✅I Bought this TOTALED Mazda How Bad Can it Really Be? 🤬

- I got this totaled 2021 Mazda CX5 from Insurance Auto Auction (Copart) This vehicle got hit pretty good, where it sustained damage to both of the frame rails and a strut tower. All of it had to be pulled back out on my homemade frame rack. There was a fair bit of challenges that I had to overcome. But it turned into a pretty interesting project and I'm glad that I get to share it you all of you!
Please don't be too long with part 2. I literally cant wait! Great stuff
Working on the next one already! 😉
The excitement on my face when i saw an upload from your channel was crazy!. Please don't make us wait months before the next upload. You are an inspiration for someone like me. Thank you!
Thanks mark ! It won't be long for the part 2
Yeah, I was checking my regular channels and when I saw a new one here, I went straight to it.
Best body repair channel on youtube! Always an instant click when I see you've posted a new video.
haha... Thanks man!!!
Same here. Watching from Queensland Australia.
One of the best teacher on RUclips....
Haha.. Thanks man, I appreciate that !!
Nice choice, i bought exactly the same car from copart 3 years ago, the maintenance is cheaper compared to other cars, and this cx-5 just works, simple reliable car + higher trim level gives you some bonuses
I've had it all fixed up for a while now and wife loves driving it. I've had Mazdas in the past and always liked them myself
This will be a good one, once again. Happy you are back with interesting fixes, can hardly wait for part 2!
👍💪✌
Thanks buddy, already working on the next one.
@@fix206 didn't thing otherwise, you are good and efficient how you fix them up, glad you can and do it.
Cheers! 👍💪✌
You are SO right about keeping the old parts!
Don't overlook how much all those clips, fasteners, etc. will cost you. If you have no recourse but the dealer, handfuls of those little parts could tally up to hundreds of dollars.
And having part numbers, or a busted reference part, can help you search used sources, or even your search for the parts you need in a salvage yard.
Today at work someone miss-placed a couple of exhaust bolts that come coupled with the compression spring... Long story short, list price on each one of those bolts at the dealership is $28, shop price is $15 and some change. So we ended up having to drop $30 on just two bolts which is ridiculous, so yeah, I don't throw away anything even if it seems like total garbage, I still keep it until the project wraps up 100%
The details are on point 🔥
I try :)
Yo @Fix206 you are back! This is an awesome build and so curious what it will take to straighten out the frame! You make my days, and are a great teacher 😉
Thanks bro! Next vid is in the works, definitely gonna have some frame work in that vid, it's gonna be a good one, hope you'll like it :)
Funny, I used to do this same stuff, but its therapeutic watching you do it lol. Nice work and attention to detail.
I feel like there is a lot of mystery surrounding the framework... So I figured I would take the mystery out of it by showing folks how I do it :-)
Keep it up! Your videos are always great.
I try to make them as educational as possible.
I came across this video for some reason, probably because i own a CX5. Nevertheless i watched the entire video with enthusiasm. I wouldn't know what to do or where to start; you have my utmost respect Sir
Great job on that CX5!
Glad you enjoyed it! Most folks don't know how this type of work is done, and I like showing you guys how I do it :)
Holy, moly man. Best channel on this particular topic on youtube! and I watched quite many already...
I appreciate that, I try to make my videos as educational as possible. Thanks for watching!!
Can't wait for part 2. Thanks for sharing.
Already in the works... stay tuned!
Thank you glad to see you back ! Looking forward to seeing this build 👍
I'll do my best to get the next vid edited and posted before long :)
The right door was opened by someone later after the accident. I guess this because passenger's airbag is not deployed
Oh I didn't even catch on to that.. You are correct !
Been an auto body tech for 20 yrs but that laser measurement system you use is awesome thanks for the tip
Alway glad to help 👍
Great video. Looking forward to part 2!
Coming soon!
I'm learning more about cars with u chief.nice one .keep up hustling
Appreciated!! Got more coming, stay tuned!
great new video, thanks for the laser measurement lesson 🙂👍👍
My pleasure!
Great to see you back again. I was just checking to see which of my regular channels had posted and as soon as I saw that you had a new video, I went straight to it. This looks like an interesting repair and you got the Mazda at a good price and the mileage is low as well. This should be a keeper for many years. Good choice. I hope the next part and following parts won't be too long coming.
Bruce my friend, how have you been? This Mazda turned out to be a great purchase and a good fit for the wife. It won't be long for the part 2 to come out... I'll do my best to push it out ASAP :)
@@fix206 Always busy here in Queensland Australia, working on different projects. Got my small shop pretty much finished, then we built a small wood shop for my woodworking tools which is also mostly finished. I haven't started my EH Holden ute (small pickup truck) restoration yet, still have to extend the shed/garage for the work area. How's that 1948 Chevy truck on the C10 frame going? We haven't seen that for two years. Hope to see more of that project and of course the continuation of the Mazda. Looking forward to your next video. All the best from Queensland where we have a pretty hot start to summer.
Next video on that Mazda is coming soon, plus I worked on and finished up a bunch of other projects just have not had time to work on the 48 Chevy. As time goes on, in the future videos you'll see all the other stuff that I've been working on as of late
Look who's back, lol
Haha.. Yes indeed 👍
Just came across your chanel and watched this video, this is great stuff! New subscriber!
Welcome aboard brother !
Another wicked vid as always dude 👊🏼😎
Thanks again!
Thanks for the details, i learned a lot.👍
Glad to hear it! Love sharing what I know
I just bought a 2021 Mazda 3 premium. Having a lot of fun, but man, those headlights are pricey! I was able to find units from other salvaged vehicles, but still expensive.
You are not kidding, some of these parts can get pretty pricey...
your back, niceee!
Yes I am! It's good to be back !
I wonder if you kept the same harness or changed it,, broken wire tend to come back with issues in the future,,
Otherwise. Fantastic work of art!
LMAO when you jumped cuz the AC lines were full
LOL... I seriously did not think that the system was still pressurized, so that burst of refrigerant kind of startled me :-)
I thought your mama always said if you keep eating those cherries you're gonna get sick!
That's what my dad used to say 😂
Great job like always
Keep up the good work
Thank you!!
Good evening 206, excellent information and content. What model and brand is your laser and that crank up laser pole. I like the other red laser with its contrast. Thank you for a great video. You take care and good luck with your rebuild.
The green laser brand is Huepar, don't recall the model number, but I wouldn't hesitate to use any laser by that brand, they are all great. The tripod with the crank is a cheap tripod that I've picked up from my local Walmart for right around $20.. The red laser is also good, just not as powerful as Huepar so it's a bit harder to see it in the day light especially on a sunny day
Very informative video. I was wondering where did you get that lazer beam device.
It's a self leveling laser, I personally like the ones with a green beam because it is easier to see in the daylight. If you are interested here is a link to one of those lasers: amzn.to/3u7HSfB
THANK YOU
You are most welcome !
👍
👍👍👍
thanks for video
Drivers side is fine. Get to pulling and cutting spot welds. I hope you call out the damaged HSS members and do not repair them.
Majority of the elements of that apron and the strut tower are all HSS as you've mentioned. I did end up replacing everything that was mangled...
@@fix206 Excellent. Seeing you kind of cater to the common Joe. It is really important your audience understands that. Pull to get the shape back. Then replace HSS components.
Roger that 👍
Hey my man, I saw a comment that you had the spotter attachment with the orange handle kit available, I’m interested in buying one. Never attempted the build since I could never find that orange circle attachment. Thank you
Yes I do have the hand puller that comes with 3 orange bases available
@@fix206 can you please link to where to purchase please. Thank you
Thanks for the informative video. One question I have is how do you ascertain that undamaged strut tower off which you are baselining your vertical alignment has also not moved. What I mean is that both the strut towers for example might have moved down with UNdamaged one moving down 4 mm therefore, how do you confirm that ? How would you baseline ? Thanks again
It takes a lot of force to move a strut tower, so it is safe to say that the strut tower on an undamaged side did not move unless the car got blasted so hard that it almost turned into a banana
Agreed. In a case where both struts might have move up or down vertically then how the correct height could be measured ?
I would inspect the motor really good might have a cracked block!
Nope, it's been wife's daily driver for a while now, the motor is good 👍
Hope you didn't buy from Copart .you seem like you have some experience,Good luck
I got a little bit of experience... And I wish I could say that I did not buy it from Copart, but sadly I did 😣
I wish you could fix my Acura😔
what laser level do you use ?
First of all you should pull all the metal BEFORE removing ANY metal parts, use all metal on the car.
That does not apply to bolt on panels, only to the panels that are welded on ...
dang.. i wanna pay you to fix my civic..
👍👍👍
Russian in action …
That's how we do it :D
