    Great commentary man. So sweet to hear you talk about the fundamentals of the game, the offence in particular. Reminds me of my balling days back in high school. I feel like the modern NBA is designed for the average fan and not for the student of the game. It’s all entertainment. At the core, it’s not as fundamental as we wish it to be, or better, as it should be. I loved 90s NBA because of their fundamentals. One fundamental I see missing in today’s NBA is boxing out to get rebounds. It’s like nobody cares about these things in the modern NBA. Maybe this is why it’s not competitive.

    • @mobrown1198
      @mobrown1198 14 дней назад +1

      They don’t have to box out, or it’s very rare, because of the 5 out offense and offensive players are rarely in position to crash the boards… I don’t know how many times I’ve seen modern players grab a rebound without even jumping.
      Just stand there… and the ball bounces towards them.
      That’s why triple doubles, especially by a guard meant more back in the day, because that meant that player was active on the boards.

    • @Downdotloader
      @Downdotloader 14 дней назад

      @Mandownsports True. This is clearly visible. The interviews that the commissioner had with Charles Barkley, KG and others are just a PR stunt in my opinion. Have you noticed that there is an effort to reintroduce a bit of physicality back in the NBA recently?I think it is to enable NBA players to compete in the Fiba World Cup and the Olympics. Why? Because the loss by the US in the Fiba World Cup hurt the product of the NBA. It suggested that the NBA does not have the best players or the best brand of basketball, but I digress. The NBA is being shaped for what is regarded as the future as you mentioned, it is now clear to me now.I think this will degrade the game. The Dr J’s, the Larry Bird’s, the Kareem’s, the Jordan’s, the David Stern’s made the NBA a sellable product. Modern players are simply reaping the fruits of the labour of those guys. I think they are not doing a good job to keep it sellable. It may get washed out ultimately and then the days to do the ground work again will return. Finally, there is a saying: tough times produce tough people, tough people produce good times, good times produce weak people and weak people produce tough times. I hope this does not happen to the NBA.

    • @Downdotloader
      @Downdotloader 14 дней назад

      @ What has happened to the game we love? 🤦‍♂️True. Because of the long shots, rebounding specialists that play in college should never even think of being drafted. Who needs them? Oh, I know! They’ll only be needed to screen for the guy who will use the screen to shoot a step-back 3 point shot! 🤦‍♂️Back in high school, my coach used to make us watch NBA games (90s) to teach us fundamentals like rebounding the ball. What do kids watch today to learn these things? Maybe it will change in the future. I hope. As things look now, it appears like the NBA is about revenue and entertainment. Great point.

    What's messed up is that the players know their game is negatively impacted by LeBron. But they don't speak on it. Either out of fear of the LeMedia or because everyone is buddy buddy in the league and only interested in glazing their buddies.
    A common trait shared by dynasties is that their stars are stars at their positions, fulfilling the responsibilities associated with their positions.
    When LeBron plays PF, he plays like he's the PG. When LeBron is in at SF, he plays like he's the PG. When a PG is in with LeBron, the PG has to play like he's a SG.

Joker is supposed to be the clean up man. He can still get his numbers that way, but having a big man like him facilitate the way he does won't last. D’Lo plays much better without LeBron on the court. He’s a guy who’s played PG his entire life, he’s not an off the ball player. The same reason he struggled with Golden State, because they wanted him to play off ball…. He’s the type of PG to run the offense and get everyone involved, and doesn’t play for the assist… but rather plays to get the best shot.
    LeBron’s need to control and run the offense… and the way the players defer to him on offense, you can notice their bad body language, they play tentative..
    when DLO runs the point, everyone can play their role. You can see players running and cutting, and even when DLo initiated the offense by giving it to AD in the high post, he was able to play off of that, as opposed to standing in the corner when LeBron is running the point.
    Lebrons inability to play off ball has always been a problem…

      @@Mandownsports But he does. You lump Jokic in with Lebron and Luka, and he's not. At all... He runs the defense, tells the guys where to be off a timeout, and what play the other team is running. He protects the paint (not incredibly well, but he puts in the effort, just doesn't have the footwork). If you watch them when he's off the court, there's a big empty space in the middle of the court where other teams get easy dunks/layups. The biggest weakness of the Nuggets' defense is the 3, which is what Jokic doesn't defend because he's back, and if he comes out, they can get by him, or other guys can move into the paint and get their easy buckets. He's not an excellent on ball defender, but he's good at predicting plays and intercepting passing lanes. His rim protection has been improving, but it's still not amazing. As I said before, I'd give him a C, but he's definitely nowhere in the realm of Luka/Lebron.

      @@Mandownsports It's like with his offense... You lump him in with Luka and Lebron, but he hardly dribbles and constantly moves the ball. The guys just keep sending the ball back to him. That's why he asked for Westbrick. He wants a facilitator. He doesn't want to have to do everything.

    LeBron isn’t as smart as the media billed him to be. He doesn’t have a high basketball IQ… because if he did, he’d recognize his deficiencies….He would’ve adjusted his game… IMO LeBron with his skill set, would more effective in the mid post, let the PG run the offense, and initiate the offense… Lebron would still get his stats, but it would be in the flow of the game.

    HEY the blazers haven't been kicking the Lakers ass the past two years it's been Denver and DELO has been horrible every time so beating the trailblazers means nothing DELO don't praise him for that. PS lebron will be the all time scoring leader for the rest of your life 😎

    You're wrong on Denver cause Jokic is a far better PG than injury prone inconsistent Murray and the sooner they decide to get rid of Murray the better the Nuggets will be
