These days the adapter cords come in handy. I bought the small adapter plug instead of the cord on Amazon so I can use 4 pin mics on the 5 pin 148. The plug is also much cheaper than the cords.
Must common issue is the mic isn't wired for the radio. Could also be a damaged mic. I would start by trouble shooting with another microphone that's known to work and is wired for that radio just to rule out the radio.
I have an RCI 2970 with 6 pins, talk about garbage. I have two turner +2's one has an actual white wire and the other one has a translucent wire which its conductor looks like a ground/shield

5 pin and 5 pin din. yes they are different. I hate 5 pin as well. and I am stuck with a few 5 pin radios and a lot of 4 pin mics.

I have 19 Cobra mini try to hook up a. 452 power all it does is squal when to talk what I'm i doing wrong
