Damn, that's a shame all that equipment left to rot. Some of its outdated but others would get used as good yard trucks where I'm at. Thanks for taking the time to film it!

I.M.H.O.,you have some of the BEST Video's on "RUclips"! You don't just show the equipment, but you also take the time to tell a little history, and you know your "Stuff',when it comes to engines, and Most of the equipment! Keep the Vid's Coming! It Can't be Easy, trudging through the underbrush or climbing all over that moss-covered equipment, either!! My Hat's off to YOU! THANKS!!

Another good one. Good thing they are going to clean up. There is probably a lot more old iron around the lake. Log floats for moving equipment was common when I was a youngster. The fuel drums looked a little worrying being in close proximity to the lake. Logging is a tough business and a lot of small guys have not made it. This is a result... Too bad. Nice job getting through the weeds giving us the rundown. lol

I would love to have those old log trucks. I actually own a 1963 Peterbilt log truck that had been sitting in some mountain town in Oregon for 20 years. It runs great and I've only replaced things that I had to, to make it legal and drivable. And it still has the original paint that I think is yellow, but I can't tell because it's so rusty.

A long time ago i was a sawmill engineer and the owners had a bigger pile of crap than that, enough to build a couple of spare sawmills with junk left over. Their idea was to buy up dead mills and reuse the plant . I spent more time rebuilding worn out machinery than installing good new plant The motor mechanics were kept really busy keeping the fleet of trucks and loaders etc running. Same story there ,lots of dead trucks to pick over to get parts.... In the end you finish up with acres of crap .

That old Arrow Denver machine is a drop hammer. Used for driving pilings, or posts for guard rails could be converted to a boring or coring machine. wouldn't be surprised if some of that equipment would still run with fresh batteries and fuel.

This is the area where supposedly one of the crew working out here shot a sasquatch and all the sasquatch in and around would not let a man work or from what I was told a couple workers were attacked and severely injured..they would push there equipment right off the bank and I was told it never stopped and the word got out and they could not find any workers that would stay out here longer then a day . So the owners took what they could barged it up 30 40 miles and start another cut , and they said they did not even unload the equipment because the workers got the hell out of there when logs started flying in off the bank, the old man that told me this said them logs were 30to40 foot long and that is why this lake is so desilet . This ain't no place to come visit and relax, these things will RIP you apart and I dont think they are going to forget what happen in the past either .

Can someone explain this [what seems uniquely Canadian] trend for just leaving lots of good kit to rot....what happens to cause this?

In 2012, Gerald Tapp asked me to go in and lowbed anything of value, out of there.
By the sounds of it then, and the looks of it now, there wasn’t anything worth going in for.

Excellent, Well where to begin, Gerald and Bobby both stubborn men with a lack of understanding of the world in which they created, We wanted to pay for a charter flight to this location Gerald just stalled us, our intent was to document their logging history, Of course we had no clue what was on site, Your fine tour has opened our eyes big time... Now we know why he was hesitant in fact avoiding us... Anyhoo,A Great video, A historic document, Thanks for posting.

Well Gerald it trying to clean up all his junk, not likely to happen. He is currently trying to clean up the Queen of Sidney, filled with his assets. I guess Port Metro in chewing his butt! All his assets should be seized, and proceeds to clean up all their mess.

This is so sad to see. This looks a lot like up on Prince of wales Island, the government suddenly cut the supply of timber and folks couldn't give away their equipment so they just left it in the brush. I guess I'm living in the past and the future has past me by. So sad.
BUT, on a lighter note, I saw some grapples laying around there that would look good in someones front yard!(;>)

It's not a drill it's a slide hammer it drops a heavy weight. Probably had it for small piles. They were used in 50s 60s for breaking concrete and compacting trenchs. Or put cutter on for cutting asphalt.
