The movie was pretty good but please fact check things before assuming. The ‘68 special was never a Christmas show but Parker did NOT want him to do the song.✌️
@@hookedonreactions7649 The original plan for the NBC special was indeed to be a family Christmas special. Parker had arranged for Elvis to sit and sing Christmas songs to children. Binder told Parker he didn't sign up for that and they clashed. Fortunately Elvis told Binder "fuck the Colonel. We're doing it your way". The rest is history.
Austin Butler deserves an Oscar for his performance ... he became Elvis ... his heart , his soul , his demeanor , his talent were intense and real ! At age 78 , I'll never forget the real man , but Austin was damn close ... TCB Elvis forever !
He really should have won the Oscar. He dedicated 2 years of his life preparing to portray Elvis. A couple of times he gave me deja vu back to when I saw the real Elvis. Amazing performance!

If you despised the Colonel after watching this, the Tom Hanks has done his job to perfection. The Colonel was a genius at money making, but a serpent when it came to compassion and caring
Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, in a 2 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory. Elvis always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather, Jesse Dunning Presley, was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. J.D. Presley was quite the racist a-hole, often drunk and a philandering husband to Minnie Mae (they were actually separated long before they finally divorced in 1954) who was always competing with his sons Vester and Vernon and who was known to abuse his kids when drunk. J.D. was was publicly against race mixing and was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. It was more publicly known that the Smith family had Native blood in their family tree, so when both his sons fell for 2 Smith sisters and Vernon, on top of that, was still a minor at 17 when he eloped with Gladys who was 4 years older than him, Jesse was totally pissed off. As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (ruclips.net/video/LrFCyNMvZWk/видео.html). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.
I think how you feel is how we all feel after watching the movie. Incredible sadness for an incredible musical genius gone way too soon. Makes me love Elvis even more.
It was a hell of an emotional roller-coaster this movie. I watched it 5x in theatre. 1st time I was shell-shocked, it was hectic and I honestly didn't know what I'd just seen, 2nd time I got a whole lot more detail out of it, 3rd time I just bawled my eyes out. I think his daddy was just out of his league in the business world, and he leant on the colonel too much.
This is too funny. All you heard about was all the research that he did, yet the movie was so full of outright lies and inaccuracies that it is pathetic. That's the bad part about movies made about famous people, if you were alive when the person lived and are familiar with their life inevitably you will disappointed when movies are made and events are twisted, misconstrued, misrepresented and outright lied about to add drama to a Hollywood production.
Fantastic reaction ❤ I’m 44 and have always, since a toddler, been an Elvis fan. Read books, watched documentaries, listened to his music, heard his life story…. This film was unreal. So many tears watching it. I was sceptical because us die hard fans don’t like Elvis impersonators because there was only 1 Elvis. Austin Butler nailed this role, absolutely nailed it 🎉 Elvis was literally worked into an early grave. The colonel and all the ‘hangers on’ who were bleeding him dry. He was so generous and people took advantage. RIP Elvis… you will never ever be forgotten ❤

Even though there was dramatic license given to the “I Have a Dream” song but so much is true. Information taken directly from the people who knew Elvis. “ Elvis, That’s the Way It Is”, “Elvis and the Black Community” and Sam Bell his childhood friend verified this as well as many others. Broke my heart. He died of congestive heart failure. So sad he could not travel the world as he wanted. Such a great movie.
Since the passing of Lisa marie, I’ve started thinking about this.. Elvis’s mom, Elvis and now his daughter all died so young.. makes you wonder if there are genetic heart issues in the family :(
What's worse is, the scene where he fires Tom is another dramatic license. In reality, Elvis always believed Tom's cover story, and died never knowing the truth. In fact nobody really found out until 1981. His last show at the Hilton _did_ have an onstage blow-up, but it was nothing to do with Parker. Basically, Elvis visited the home of an employee of the Hilton after finding out the guy's wife was dying of cancer. The Hilton had a rule that forbade contact between hotel staff and talent, however, so the employee was fired immediately. That night, Elvis launched into an onstage rant against Mr. Hilton, saying he wasn't worth a damn. This led to the firing of Parker, but in the privacy of Elvis's room, after literally arguing all night.
Elvis was an extremely ill man. Some of his health issues were genetic but there was so much more. That’s why he took the prescription medication. There are several good books on his health issues but just as good is a short documentary on the latest autopsy report that’s representing the one coming out in 2027 called Elvis Presley SECRET autopsy uncovered on utube.

Noone has ever seen such fame and hugeness before, he was the first superstar and the first megastar ... The first Global star! And he invented YOUTH CULTURE! ... the teenager!
I finally saw the film last night ...I was in high school when Elvis died ....this movie was really good ..he was a star long enough to go thru many trends, and he also had many famous girlfriends that they didn't show ..hippy and rock music came thru and replaced him after a while ...but he always had international fans ....his career was just like Michael Jackson /with the drugs at the end ......Michael Jackson even married Elvis daughter for a time
You might say that you hope Elvis had more backbone, but maybe you should have had to walk a mile in his shoes (if he had any growing up) to know exactly what he went through. That manager might have been corrupt, but he knew how to push Elvis's buttons and he took Elvis out of poverty.. and that's all Elvis wanted, was to leave the ghetto behind. In the later years, Elvis found out that that manager was a snake, but Elvis didn't want to lose Graceland.. and the memories he had there with his mother, Priscilla & Lisa Marie. He never lost it.
Now you understand our grief when he died. Now you know why he sang with such emotion. Now you know why we hate Colonel Parker. Now you know. We knew for years, but now a new generation has learned what was done to Elvis. Now you know why we feel they killed him bit by bit and why we love him still. 💔😥
Elvis's mom had severe depression that got worse when Elvis got drafted. Then her death made his depression spiral out of control as well. He took anti-depressants (the same kind that Marilyn Monroe and Shirley Jackson took in that era, and who also died young partly due to them) but the anti-depressants of the day were dangerous and highly addictive.
Elvis was the best singer ever. Not only did he have an amazing voice, he could also convey the feeling of a song so you felt it too. And don't get me started on how many different genrers he could do perfectly. You might find a singer who could sing a lovesong like Elvis, and another who could sing a rock song like him, and another again who could sing Gospel, blues or country like him. But you wont find anyone who could do it all across. Elvis is in 5 ! Music halls of fames, has the most sold christmas albums, was named the 14th best country singer of the 20th century, got 3 Grammys for his Gospel music, is the king of rock'n roll, and topped the blues charts several times. He even sang semi opera (It's now or never, Surrender) and Pavarotti once said "Elvis can sing like me but I cant sing like Elvis". And when the famous opera singer Kiri Te Kanawa was asked who she thought had the worlds best voice she shocked the journalist (who thought she would name another opera singer) by saying "Elvis in the early 60's".
At the beginning of the movie Elvis and his friends visit a house party in what is the "Shake Rag" community in Tupelo. You mentioned how much that deep blues sound was moving you so I wanted to throw you a few names if you so choose to dig deeper. In the movie Gary Clarke Jr is doing an incredible rendition of the Arthur Crudup song "That's alright Momma". However he is really not singing it as we have heard Arthur so beautifully sang it. But he is singing it more as Skip James would have sang it. That high pitched, ghostly voice was indisputably a Skip James style. Also represented in this movie was Big Mamma Thornton ( Hound Dog and Ball and Chain sang by Janis) and Sister Rosetta Tharpe ( Didn't it rain ). I hope this will be the beginning of a path to some of the most fulfilling music there is. American Blues and Gospel were the very beginning of Rock and Roll.
Absolutely enjoyed your reaction. You should definitely check out the 68 comeback special. It's so good. Elvis was lightening in a bottle. The same as Michael Jackson was as well. Artists like Elvis and MJ will never be seen again. I remember where I was when I heard Elvis had died. He was my first crush and he'll always be the King.
I hope you’ve seen the movie since this. He was so young when he started and had beer so poor, he gotten taken advantage of. You’ll understand much more after you’ve seen the movie. Sometimes he was too kind and tried to help everyone else. This has happened time and time again since Elvis. He was the first, and his iconic fame he had to deal with alone with all the financial responsibilities of taking care of everyone was rough. He also had a myriad of health problems genetically passed down that he used the prescription drugs to be able to perform. I saw an interview with Whitney Houston once & she stated “ the success is great, it’s the fame that kills you” & look what happened to that beautiful talented woman. Her mom sang for Elvis and went through his death etc. Then decades later she went through it with her own daughter too. So sad. Michael Jackson, Prince, Freddy Mercury ( who by the way loved Elvis and wrote his hit “Crazy Little Love” in his memory. Stars that seem to reach high levels of fame get lost in it all & Elvis is one of the most famous people in the world. Known by just his first name around the globe and then the Colonel on top of it just led him the wrong way. Very sad. I sobbed through the ending. It was done respectfully, emotionally, and with grace. There’s a line in the movie where he said to Priscilla when he said “ no one is going to remember me, I haven’t done anything lasting” That’s the one line I would let out a hiccup sob even though I knew it was coming every time. Great movie, phenomenal acting. Don’t know if you recognized the Colonel, but it was Tom Hanks. Very much a roller coaster of highs and lows. Steve Binder did the 68 special and tried to reach Elvis to work with him afterwards, but once again the Colonel wouldn’t allow him to contact Elvis. May Elvis an now his daughter RIP without earthly burdens anymore. Loved your reaction & I do hope you see the movie. It was best in the theater but streaming and the DVD are great too. That soundtrack went to number 1 after the movie came out. ❤❤😊🎸🎸🕺🏻🕺🏻🎤🎤🙏🏼
Great reaction, and I sure hope you're going to watch the whole film. You really shouldn't miss seeing every part of it. Loved Elvis since I was a kid, and really appreciated the film. You're going to love it, too, when you see more than the pieces of this really well-done production. Congratulations to Austin Butler! He could not possibly have been better. Rest in peace, our beloved Elvis.
Just finished the book Destined to Die Young. The last 3 years he was very I’ll. He had multiple inherited health issues that lead to early deaths to all family members on his mothers side that lead to his final heart attack. It’s now very difficult to watch his performances those last few years knowing how ill he was, yet he refused to let down his fans or his family.. very heartbreaking ❤
85% of that movie was true, but when Elvis found out what the Colonel really was he was just too late Elvis would never lose Graceland with that said he truly was the greatest entertainer of them all and yet he didn't believe he could make it without Colonel Tom Parker's is loyalty was a blessing and a curse thank you for your reaction
Amazing movie! It also showed the corrupt side of the music industry. Elvis should’ve definitely had his own label. It’s like B.B. King said: “If you don’t do the business, the business will do you.” He’s so damn right.
Elvis hated the movies they had him do. He thought they were stupid. He felt they made him into a joke. He longed to be taken seriously as an actor. It's like an artist being forced to color in coloring books with crayons when the artist has visions of beauty he's not allowed to create. A tragedy.
The artsy stuff in the Comeback Special, the martial arts and stuff, I think were removed but they did film them and you can watch them on RUclips. They're Trouble/Guitar Man, Guitar Man Production Number, It Hurts Me, Nothingville, and Gospel Production Number.
Vernon was a weak man who gave into Tom Parker. Parker knew he was weak and not particularly bright or worldly wise. Elvis was never arrogant, he thought that without Parker he'd not have made it. Which is criminal for a manager to make an artist feel so beholden like that. Elvis was a good man that deserved so much more. He should have lived longer and been happier and toured the world. Amazing that he's still the bigdest selling solo artist of all time. Austin Butler and Tom Hanks deserve Oscars for their performances.
Listen, The way they portrayed Vernon WAS NOT HOW VERNON WAS AT ALL THEY WERE VERY CLOSE.... AND HE WAS BY ELVIS'S SIDE ALL THE WAY HE MANAGED THE MONEY HE WAS WITH ELVIS AT EVERY EVEN / CONCERT / TOUR / LIVED RIGHT BESIDE ELVIS AND TOO ELVIS'S MOM GLADYS WAS NOT AN ALCOHOLIC THEY DRAMATIZED SO MUCH OF THIS.... MOVIE READ THE BACK OF THE DVD IT SAYS DRAMATIZED .... NOW EVERYONE THAT WATCHED THE MOVIE IS HATING ON ELVIS'S FATHER BECAUSE OF THIS DAMN MOVIE WHICH IS NOT HOW VERNON WAS!!!! AT ALL
Elvis was an amazing person..he gave and gave until he couldn't do it anymore ..its truly heartbreaking how he was treated by the people who supposedly loved him 😭🤬🤬🤬... to all of the haters and crap talkers abt Elvis, please do your research on him before spewing your foolishness !!!...Tom Parker literally ran Elvis into the ground...can't stand that man 🤬..so glad to see you reacting to this Elvis journey...you won't be disappointed ❤ and Elvis was not fat, he was swollen due to steroids and medications..he had mounting health problems from an early age, the book destined to die young will explain his health problems
This was the best movie of 2022 and should have won Oscar. Austin butler should have won best actor & Tom hanks should have won best supporting actor. I can’t express how my heart hurts for Elvis Presley
Elvis was WORSHIPPED by his fans. Still is. Men aren’t meant to be worshipped. It’s not natural and Elvis handled it amazing for the first person to ever achieve that mega stardom.
When Lisa Marie was born he called Nancy Sinatra and was happy, but he said it was not fair because his baby would have everything and kids are born that same day and will have nothing. "It just isn't fair."'
If you want to know the Elvis story… watch Elvis by the Presley’s right here free on RUclips. It’s done by his daughter and wife. There’s 2 parts. The death threats were very real and Elvis performed on stage with a gun in his boot.
Elvis father, he had no back bone to stand up to Parker (manager), he had everything to lose if he stood up to the manager, Vernon (Elvis father) was financially responceble for the Presley estate, so he would have lost everything if he stood up to Parker, so he never dared to, he would have lost everything if he did. All the (Memphis maffia) people close to Elvis got payed to be around him, so they where his employes, so they did not care for the person Elvis, at least not enough to stop what happend, Elvis had a doctor that got Elvis a lot of medication drugs, to sleep, to wake up and so on. He also got medication for his irritable bowls, his Glaucoma and so on !! Elvis never got to play outside USA because of the manager who took 50 % of everything that was sold in Elvis name, including the I hate Elvis, or I love Elvis buttons, the manager was a heavy gambler and that is why he forced ELvis to play for years in Vegas, two shows every night for years. The manager could not be fired, he had a contract that made Elvis lose everything if they fired him and both Elvis and his dad would have been dirt poor again to, that contract was more or less a slavecontract, the problem is that Elvis and his family signed it, we can only hope without reading it, if they read it they can't have understood it... Unfortually Elvis only lived to become 42 years old...
Elvis spent his life looking after everybody but forgot to look after himself. He had his flaws, but his kindness, generosity and humbleness were unmatched. A great reaction

Watch the echo will never die..the black community
Noone has ever seen such fame and hugeness before, he was the first superstar and the first megastar ... The first Global star! And he invented YOUTH CULTURE! ... the teenager!
I finally saw the film last night ...I was in high school when Elvis died ....this movie was really good ..he was a star long enough to go thru many trends, and he also had many famous girlfriends that they didn't show ..hippy and rock music came thru and replaced him after a while ...but he always had international fans ....his career was just like Michael Jackson /with the drugs at the end ......Michael Jackson even married Elvis daughter for a time
Very good observation on the film.....again Austin deserve the Oscar for the way he acted portraying Elvis !
Love genuine reactions instead of people being like wow, cool, yeah! Keep it up man!!!
Elvis was only 23 when his mom died.
Love your reaction! This was me watching this movie.. ❤
If Austin Butler doesn't win an Oscar for this, then I swear the Oscars have to be rigged.
shout out to all the black artists in the movie🙌🏿😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥
That musician in the juke joint is Gary Clark jr. A current guitar maestro!
You MUST see it ALL! Superb film!
They showed the very end ... Unchained Melody.....
When they asked him, who are you Elvis, I wanted him to say I'm Elvis f'n Presley
Elvis also got hooked on uppers and downers in the army. I’m sure a lot of soldiers back then did.
I’m happy this hit you like this. Because it means you met the man. The good news is you’ll always have this with you when you listen to his music. ❤
I love your reaction ❤
And when the famous opera singer Kiri Te Kanawa was asked who she thought had the worlds best voice she shocked the journalist (who thought she would name another opera singer) by saying "Elvis in the early 60's".
that was the best reaction i have EVER seen GOD BLESS YOU MAN !!
You should watch the series sun records it involves the million dollar quartet which included Elvis
After Elvis died the Estate sued Colonel Parker. Once Elvis Presleys Mother died , Elvis died a little too.
This movie started me down the Elvis rabbit hole & I’ve been watching documentary films about him for over a year now & you will do the same
The only kept him because he had too much respect for his self Elvis had a touching loving heart ❤️
You need to go see the movie I saw it 3 times and each time I would see something I did not see before
Elvis recorded 769 songs Many of them are GOSPEL 🎤
Could u react to the king of kindness video about elvis and his charities, he gave away millions.
I also like how you vibed during the 68 comebak lol
85% of that movie was true, but when Elvis found out what the Colonel really was he was just too late Elvis would never lose Graceland with that said he truly was the greatest entertainer of them all and yet he didn't believe he could make it without Colonel Tom Parker's is loyalty was a blessing and a curse thank you for your reaction
She was his life and she was a beautiful woman inside and out
Amazing movie! It also showed the corrupt side of the music industry. Elvis should’ve definitely had his own label. It’s like B.B. King said: “If you don’t do the business, the business will do you.” He’s so damn right.
IN THE BLACK LEATHER THAT WAS THE 68" SPECIAL...AT END OF SPECIAL HE DID "IF I COULD DREAM"
Also.. Elvis was in the army when his mom Gladys died. Both Elvis and Austin lost their momma at age of 23
He is a manager to complete control of him, and at the time he was too naïve to notice it
The little fingers was in florida 56 yes there's footage and the trouble part although not San there the concert was Russwood Park 56
Fun fact: did you know that in the opening scene, is Steve Nicks singing Cotton Candy land?
Elvis hated the movies they had him do. He thought they were stupid. He felt they made him into a joke. He longed to be taken seriously as an actor. It's like an artist being forced to color in coloring books with crayons when the artist has visions of beauty he's not allowed to create. A tragedy.
He was nervous every time he went on stage his entire life. The older man singing is Big Daddy Crudup.
The artsy stuff in the Comeback Special, the martial arts and stuff, I think were removed but they did film them and you can watch them on RUclips. They're Trouble/Guitar Man, Guitar Man Production Number, It Hurts Me, Nothingville, and Gospel Production Number.
l have same feeling and reaction with you that see a movie . l was very angry at the agent.
The 1968 special was lit up.
Elvis was WORSHIPPED by his fans. Still is. Men aren’t meant to be worshipped. It’s not natural and Elvis handled it amazing for the first person to ever achieve that mega stardom.
Sammy David, Jr said Elvis was the only one who could fill that place.
Austin Butler is on his way for a Oscar i can wait to watch it in March.
There was only 2 singers that was very generous it was elvis and selena
When Lisa Marie was born he called Nancy Sinatra and was happy, but he said it was not fair because his baby would have everything and kids are born that same day and will have nothing. "It just isn't fair."'
I would've liked to hear more of what you thought of Austin Butler's performance
Film bardzo mi się podobal, był bardzo przejrzysty co do kariery Elvisa, Austin czyżby narodził się nowy Elvis ,Oscar dla Austina!!!!!!!
RIP Elvis
The Presley family were southern Baptists. They loved Gospel music. Elvis roots was Gospel music.
He bought Cadillac's , houses and all kinds of things for people who needed it. He believed God gave him money to share.
If you want to know the Elvis story… watch Elvis by the Presley’s right here free on RUclips. It’s done by his daughter and wife. There’s 2 parts. The death threats were very real and Elvis performed on stage with a gun in his boot.
Does anyone else hear?: “That’s why he’s the goat. THE GOAT!!!! while reading the title?
