I've shot a lot of 9mm and .45 cal. over the years. I carried a 1911 in Vietnam with the 9th Infantry Division, later purchased a Para 14-45 Tactical which was wonderfully accurate. I own several Beretta 9mm's and love them. I owned a Star .380 and it hurt to shoot. I maxed the Carry Course Qualification with my Beretta 9mm Cougar but it was a bit larger than what I wanted for a carry firearm. I told myself I'd never buy a pistol which wasn't all metal. A friend bought the Ruger .380 max, I fired that pistol and the safety in the trigger bit my finger, I didn't like that at all. My friend said the Max bit his finder, too. I watched Hickok 45's review of the Sig P365 - 380, relented and bought a Sig Sauer P365-.380. It is smaller, light shooting, accurate and with a 12 rd. mag is just what I want for a carry pistol. I still shoot every month and enjoy it. I'm 80 and glad I watched Hickok 45's review of the Sig P365 - 380. Thanks.
Thank you for your service, hope you’re all right, sir.

This little .380 is a sweet shooter. Fun at the range. 11 rounds. You don't have to be an old lady to buy this pistol. .380 has been around over 100 years for protection.
It is a fun shooter. Even with the curved trigger, unlike the X and XL, you can run that gun fast and accurate.
I changed mine over to the flat trigger. Can be done
I’d recommend just buying the 9mm tbh they’re the same size but your getting a lot more performance from a 9mm and I’ve yet to meet anyone who can’t handle the recoil from a 9 from 6 year old kids first time shooting a gun to a 86 year old grandma not only that but with modern ammunition the 9mm almost performs as good as all the bigger calibers the hornady critical duty 9mm ammo passes all the fbi test and medical examiner’s couldn’t tell if someone was shot by it or a 45 with the expansion it leaves a pretty big mess inside your body unfortunately the same can’t be said about the .380 i guess if you have arthritis or a disability it’s still way better than nothing or something smaller but I’d really try going for the 9mm if your able to
@@michaelsmith4325 With all due respect, Greg Ellifritz's 10 year study on caliber effectiveness would beg to differ. .380 held its own or bested 9mm in many critical stats. I had the 9mm P365, and I shot it ok, but I shoot the .380 much better: faster and more accurately by a country mile in fact. Thus, I feel much more confident about getting accurate hits with it, and I'm very confident in its ability to end a confrontation, God forbid it ever came to that.
@@michaelsmith4325 You must not have seen the Underwood Extreme Penetrator or Defender 380 ballistics gel videos. I've seen this 380 round go through 30" of ballistics gel.
To me this is the perfect edc. Is small so you can conceal it easy in any outfit, it optics ready so you can shoot it like a larger pistol, and the recoil is none so you can hit your target over and over. This gun is very accurate. I have this and the lcp max. The max hurts your hand and the trigger is super heavy so it's hard to shoot. I love shooting the p365. I can shoot this gun all day meaning I just get more and more efficient with my edc. I'm a 5'9 180 male so don't let people tell you this is a womans gun and all that crap. A gun is a gun and this one is fun and effective and checks all the boxes of a great edc!
Don’t want to volunteer to get shot by a .25acp, let alone a .380! Two or three shots on target with a .380 is a bunch better than a dozen near misses with a 9mm! Lena Miculek’s video on comparing the .380 and 9mm P365 is spot on. Great video!
Of all the reviews I've seen on this, even including Sig's announcement video, you're the first to explicitly say it was a locked action and not direct blowback. Thank you. That's a huge part of .380 selection.
I really hope Sig releases this in a full XL size.
The 365 .380 shares the same grip module and FCU as the 9mm version. You can add the larger grip module but it will only work with the 12 rd magazines.
@@golfmanmatt I already know I can swap on an XL frame, but that requires purchasing the pistol and then another frame on top of that. Besides, I want the longer 3.7" barrel and slide as well.
I hope they release a full size. shooting a 380 of these without having to reload after 8 or less rounds sounds really fun at the range

My girlfriend got one of these last month as an edc and she loves it. It’s her first gun, she’s shot my Glock 43x and she says it’s too much for her. She is so comfortable shooting the p365 380. Highly recommend this to first time shooters and people that are recoil sensitive
Works great for this 70-year-old guy with nerve damage in his hands. With a Hogue glove, it feels nice and shoots straight. A little issue with my preferred carry ammo but still in the break-in phase. I like Underwood Extreme Defender rounds in my 380s.
@@phigdon3 I use the Federal Hydra Shok Deep Penetration, which has great reviews.

Thank you Hickok45 for always being here for us 🇺🇸
Recently got the 365-380 and yes, compared to my 365XL, my 76 y.o. arthritic hands can tell a very noticeable difference after sending 50 or so rounds in each down range.
Gun to gun, this is THE best 9mm vs .380 video I have ever seen. Same makers, for both pistol and ammo, so shooters can finally see a true 9mm vs .380 performance battle. Love the pros and cons demonstrated out in the beautiful hills of Tennessee! Keep lighting up the holler!
No you can't see the difference in performance as in what each does in testing media. Ask a trauma surgeon who has gunshot wound exposure and they will tell you as does other Disciplines in firearms actual use and they will tell you 380 is on par with many other Calibers. I know you are a he man and I'm a wimp but I've seen the top reports on Calibers 22 -44 mag. and in actual shootings the 44mag. beat the lowly 380 by very little in stopping the threat.
I traded my 9mm for the 380 due to nerve damage in hands. I can still handle larger 9mm but for a small CCW this 380 works for me.
Or glock 42
@@troytruong8246 I like the 12+1 I can carry in the P365-380.
I just added the S&W Equalizer in 9mm with the EZ 9mm technology so I can carry and handle this 9mm when I choose. More choices for those of us with compromised hand issues.
The more I watch and hear about the .380 the more I appreciate it. It’s a good little cartridge, and this is a neat little pistol. Excellent video!!!
Ammo is still overpriced when you can find it, IMHO.
@@southernbuck101georgia2 9x19 is just cheaper because it is produced in much greater number.
@@Gieszkanne but I was buying up .40 ammo before covid for cheap cheap from the 40 haters, and police departments that were changing back to 9mm.
This kid is always thinking 2 chess moves ahead.
His genuine happiness and love for what he does makes me smile every time I watch these videos. Good stuff!
I traded my Glock 43x and my Glock 42 for this Sig 356-380. As a retired police officer, I used the Glock 43x to qualify for my yearly HR-218 Conceal and Carry. I only carried the Glock 42 (380 with 6 Plus 1) because of its size and weight along with more accurate shooting results than I experienced with my Glock 43X (9mm). With the added capacity of the Sig 36-380 and being the same size as a Glock 42, I decided that was all I needed to qualify, while experiencing less recoil than a 9mm. For conceal and carry, I have become in favor of shots on target with a 380 being more important than the power and recoil of a 9mm cartridge from a micro or compact short barrel firearm. I found the Ruger Max 380 to be just too small for my hands. I purchased the Sig 12 round magazine, and I am incredibly happy with this firearm for conceal and carry.
Great comment. Ive been considering trading in my 42 for this too. Love the possibility of easily adding a dot to it. Do you notice the weight difference at all? I know its a good bit heartier with the extra ammo alone.
@@bearlemke Yes, I did notice a slight difference in weight compared to the Glock 42 but, that is to be expected with the extra 4 rounds in the magazine. Still comfortable to carry! It is easier to conceal with the 10 round mag, although I did buy a 12 round mag. I use the 12 round as an extra carry mag.
@@jckcpd4539 Roger that. Love the idea of having 12 rounds vs the 8+1
I sold my Glock 43x also because it was too snappy for me and I'm looking into this gun or the LCP max with the 12 round magazine
Unfortunately, after seeing so many ballistic tests of the 380, I decided to trade in Sig 365-380 for the Sig 365 in 9mm. The 380 round is not very good on expansion, velocity, and penetration. I love the size of the Sig 365 for conceal and carry. I know the recoil is strong but so is that Ruger in 380 because it is so small with a short barrel.
I just love listening to you talk about firearms because you do it out of passion. You really love what you do and it shows. Thanks for the entertaining and informative content.

I just got one and I love it. First off the 365 is an amazing firearm I also have it in 9 mm. But I absolutely love the 380. For women who are worried about recoil it’s a little bit easier. I don’t mind it as much with a 9 mm but for a change of pace 380 is great. So if you can find one get one. And the price is right
The one I want to know about is the 17rd macro dropped today.

Thx always nice to see your videos
I own a 43yr old BDA.380 and to date very reliable. I found a 2mm difference, with bullet weight, load that varies but it hurts and does the job...in my opinion/ experience. You are right it's a real gun.
380 will get the job done! And you will probably put more rounds on target due to the lighter recoil
Let’s be honest. Recoil with 9mm vs .380acp is not like comparing 357 mag. and 38 sp, where the difference in recoil is substantial and a legit consideration for most people.
9mm is already fairly light on the recoil to begin with. The difference in recoil vs a 380acp, unless you are really sensitive to it, is actually minimal.
All that said, you are well armed in most situations with a 380acp. The biggest downside to the 380acp isn’t its power, because it will get the job down. The biggest downside is these days is the availability and price.
More wise teaching from master Hickok. Keep up the great work.👍🏻
I adopted one a few weeks ago. After several boxes of ammo with no hiccups and some sight adjustment, it is now my secondary EDC.
What’s your first EDC..?

Beautiful Video Thanks I Love Hickok45 ❤
Not sure if anyone has commented on the Browning you had but I believe it was the Browning BDA, aka FN 140DA. Very nice little piston indeed. I believe Beretta had a version as well. As ALWAYS....Very good video!! Keep up the good work! I know you're not a fan of "micro" pistols due to having LARGE hands, but Thank You for giving us a fair and non biased opinion.
I have the .380 the light recoil makes this thing fun to shoot and my follow up shots are solid .
I bought this recently, I'm in love with it. How slick it feels and it feels perfect in my hands. I have small hands for a guy so I can't really buy Full Size pistols. Another plus is my mom already has a .380 so I don't need to stock up on ammo now. Mine came with a speed loader and two 10 round mags. My dad bought a Two Tone P365 and his is the 9mm version. Im a lil jealous his came with a 15 rounder and two 12s plus a holster. dang. The fact these come optics ready too is a plus.
I have several .380’s but the Sig 365-380 is the lightest shooting one I own. Even the Bersa Thunder which is a much heavier gun doesn’t shoot as light as the Sig. You can run that Sig so fast because the muzzle flip is almost non-existent so the gun stays on target.
Can you explain what you mean by “lightest shooting”? Is that trigger pull, recoil, something else?
@@gghostrrider he means the recoil doesnt feel heavy
Thank you Hickok 45. Good info.
Aside from the great video, I'm just amazed how he was able to hold that tiny pistol in his hands
It boils down to this.....what works for you after reading some facts. MOST ANY firearm is better than not having one. Merely showing strength and intent to protect yourself or family many times diffuses the problem. If forced into it, be proficient and accurate! Practice.
God bless all here.
Lil’ old .380 sure made those soda bottles jump more than I expected. Also knocked over that bowling pin. I’m sure not going to volunteer to stand in front of one. Please don’t take away my man card!
To be honest, I shot my new P365 380 just this morning. It’s a great shooter and, turning 70 next month, I figured I should take a look toward the future. With Hornady Critical Defense in it I don’t think I’ll be all that undergunned. For now, though, I’m still going with my P365XL for EDC.
Just pick one of these up today, I hated the LCP, uncomfortable and unreliable but man is it small. Now that ammo is back on the shelf cant wait to shoot it
Awesome video. Love the small pocket pistols
Glad you ran the holler points through it. Some pistols can be finicky with defense ammo.
I have the 365-380 and I had a bunch of feed issues with Fiocchi defense ammo! Zero issues with any other ammo
@@jasonciavarino1723 I had issues with the same ammo in a Bersa Thunder 380 about 14 years ago. It was my first pistol and I’ll always remember that.

Loving the targets with sponsors!!!
Sweet 380, I grabbed a Sig P365X about a month ago, in 9MM of course, love the size and night sights. My first above average EDC I'd say:) Took me a couple of months deciding, almost went with the Glock 43X, and one or two more in the running, happy with my choice. The night sights is what done it for me, spent the extra $50 or so bucks to not have to add anything.
Night sights are mostly useless, but people seem to like them for some reason.
1911 dude
@@pewpew9193 compared to the stock Glock sights (the original comment)? I absolutely disagree.
Yep I own a Sig 365 also great gun and your much better off with 9mm over a 380 of the same size. And plastic Glock sights are useless, much rather have steel night sights on any pistol than plastic sights that break off.

I think this is a perfect size & weight for a 380 CCW pistol. I have a P238 (almost the same weight) and the P365-380 and I enjoy shooting the P365-380 a bit more and use it as my EDC. I was originally going to get a Taurus Gx4 or Hellcat but when I saw Sig was going to release this I waited. No regrets! And if I absolutely need more firepower I have an HK VP9SK, though that pistol is a little harder for me to conceal.

I have quite a collection of handguns but for my go to it’s the Sig P238 Equinox. Small lightweight extremely accurate so easy to conceal. Everyone will say 380 is too small for carry but I’ve yet to find someone who will let me shoot them.
It is so easy mixing up .380 (or 9mmx19/9mmx17) and 9mm. I would not have the same cartridges on my shooting table together-been there, done this !
Have some respect for the man. His literal profession at this point in his life is demonstrating firearms. He can figure out how to not load the wrong ammo.

Vert informative video Mr Hickok, love my lcp max as a small pocket or waistband handgun. I do not hate sig, enjoy my legion p226 and p320 x5. I do not see a need for a larger .380, if I want larger, will carry my m&p shield 45 or cz 2075 rami. Again love my lcp max.
You pretty much hit the target every time! Do you leave one eye closed? You are a good shooter…. Wish I had that great of eye sight on targets……… Thanks for sharing your videos!!
How does shooting the LCP Max compare to the 9mm Sig in terms of recoil feel? That would have been good to try in that comparison too, to see whether the pocket 380 kicks as hard as the bigger micro 9 or even harder
I am one of those who thinks that the problem is where you put the bullet and this gun is with me and you don't even notice that I have it, I love it
Beretta, CZ, and Sig. You cant go wrong choosing either, but your best choice is choosing many from all 3.

@@147CombatMedic Yup, haha, they're how I found his channel!
Yep had a tip up Beretta 22 it’s how i taught both of my sons to shoot a pistol when they were very young. I liked the fact that it was just one shot if you wanted with the tip up barrel. When I could trust them more with it we loaded up the mag.
In my experience, the action makes far more difference than the caliber as far as felt recoil is concerned. I can fire a .44 magnum pistol with no problem; the pistol and my hand rises after the bullet has left the muzzle. Ditto for a 1911 or Glock in .45, 9mm, etc. But a Polish P64 in 9x18 (just a hair bigger than .380) is the most painful pistol I have ever fired. The barrel is fixed to the frame and transfers most of the recoil directly to the hand. Ouch!
I have a Sig 226 and a 365 9mm never the less the 365-380 Is what I have in a "seatbelt holster" as an anti-carjacking self defense firearm. I needed a good capacity light enough replacement for my (no fun) S&W Bodyguard which I nick named the "punisher" it held six rounds of 9mm and after six shots my hand and wrist were numb and my hand throbbed after 12 rounds. I tried other 380s but the smaller guns like the LC9 were fairly uncomfortable as well. I can shoot my p226 all day and not feel sore. The Sig 368-380 is the best so far. I took some white enamel paint to the 365-380s magazines baseplate logo so I can tell at a glance they're not for the 365 9mm.
Great video, and good advice like always.
Suggestion: What do you think of the CAA MCK conversion kit?
Hope you’re healthy hik!
Another great video!
Just bought one of these for my first EDC. I have a PX4 Storm so I have shot 9mm, but I was worried about how jumpy the 9mm P365 would be. I shot my dad's LC9 and that thing was so uncomfortable to shoot. Felt like it was going to fly out of my hands. I assume that the 9mm P365 would be pretty close to the same feel. Hoping I made the right choice, but so far it's a super sweet gun, and the optics plate included is a nice bonus. I am more concerned with putting multiple bullets on target in a short amount of time, instead of a slightly more powerful round and less hits, should I ever need to use it in a defensive situation.
Add a Holosun 507k red dot and Wilson Combat XL lower frame with 12 round mags and it’s a beautiful combination.
Hickok, Nice belt buckle 🤠
I discovered why you shouldn't use the 9mm mags even though they do work decently. I experienced several times where the gun didn't return all the way into battery and required me to hit the rear of the slide to move it into battery. While simple, if this happened in a real fight you would be in a world of hurt. I had another 380 mag to try and it worked perfectly everytime.
All my homes love Hickock
Primary residence/ vacation, or rentals?🤣
I have the LCP Max and the 365-380. The LCP is just easier to carry in multiple ways, but the 365 is definitely more pleasant to shoot.
Have you noticed any issues with the LCP Max pinching your trigger finger? Another reviewer mentioned having a problem with that.
@@zoeyb.3701 I have a lcp max and it pinches the hell out of my finger. That’s why I’m here checking out the 365. Lol. The normal 9mm p365 is more pleasant to shoot and has less recoil than the lcp max in 380

Evenin,Sir.
So, is the Sig 380 going back to Buds, or has it found a home on the compound?
I carry an LCP 2, at times, especially in the summer although I lean towards Glocks, and carry a G27 when clothing and mood allows for it.
I'd been straddling the fence on the purchase of a 365 in 9mm . Because of the size, and to confuse my kids on magazines, when I'm gone , since all I have are glock mags with the caliber marked on every one of them.
I've always wondered why Glock never made a single stack .40 similar to the G43, mainly, or even the 43x in a .40.
For some reason this gun is not easy to find in the stores in Central Florida and nobody has it in there rental cases. I shot the LCP max and that thing shoots terrific, extremely accurate!
The .380 mag body has longer feed lips. The guts of the 9mm fit inside the .380 body just fine including the mag guts +2 for 9mm.
I want a longer slide .380 for the increased sight radius. The .380 has less flash and concussion for shooting without eye/ear protection. A 3.7 - 4.0in barrel .380 would be even nicer in that regard, they could call it a target model.
If 380 is good enough for James Bond, it's good enough for us.
I had feed issues with Fiocchi defense ammo! Out of 50 rounds had 20 or so failure to feed. Not one hiccup with any target or other defense ammo
