My doctor must know your doctor because I have heard that same "you are not as young as you use to be" and rest is indeed a good thing. Hope you are feeling better soon. God bless y'all and keep growimg.
😅my hubby gags every time he sees the inside of a pumpkin. His Mom said he’s done that since the first time he tried to participate in pumpkin carvings. I think it’s the funniest thing. I hope you feel better soon. 💐
My grandma gave me a great kitchen item to put under my pies while cooking. It's like a sheet pan but circular with a whole in the middle. This way, if you're moving your pie out of the oven to add crust to it like you're doing, any spillage will land on IT. ~ I had to laugh about the kitchen cabinet doors because my husband leaves them open. Every time I go in to the kitchen, I am shutting doors or drawers..lol. And he would also be the one to say..." I could run to the grocery store and be back by now." Makes me laugh...but he knows he is getting much better food than at the grocery store.
I'll have to look for something like that for getting pies in and out of the oven. As for the cabinet doors, I think my husband is pretty much used to it after 42 years and yes, your husband is getting MUCH better food from what you make/preserve than anything he can get at the grocery store. Thanks for watching!
So happy to have found your channel! Your energy, humor and personalities instantly caught my attention, very familiar and comforting. Can't wait to get caught up on your videos, thank you for sharing! Keep up the amazing work! ❤
It's so nice to see your fall color. Our sweet corn is in the freezer by June. Our field corn is harvested in July and farmers then chisel plow the earth. Now it's all ready for the November rains. The main crop down here is field corn, followed by maize and then cotton, although less of that is grown each year.
Hi, Love your channel and I learn a lot. I would have stabbed them a couple of times each and baked them whole. I remove the seeds after baking because it's easier, and easier to cut them too! Have a happy autumn.
I'll have to give that at try next time. Do you scrape much meat out with the seeds when it's cooked/soft? I was afraid it would be too 'mushy' to get seeds and not the meat.
I lay the pumpkin on it's side and keep turning it every 15 - 20 min. so it gets soft evenly. I think that it has more flavor because none escapes with the steam. I cook all my hard squashes this way too.@@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764
if you put your pumpkin in the microwave for a minute or two, it helps to cut it better. also use an ice cream scoup to get the seeds out. it works so much better and faster cleaning
I tried freezing my butter a little and using a grater for my butter,,,,worked well! Love your channel!,,,was in Pa last week,,,Sinnamahoning State Park,,,,foliage and the elk we’re amazing! ❤️
I just saw that last night on Elliot Homestead.....that's an amazing idea. I'll definitely be doing that in the future. Thanks! Yes, the colors in PA right now are gorgeous.
The pie looks delicious! You might try placing your empty shell/crust on a baking sheet before pouring in the filling. Much easier to get it into the oven without a spill. I'd be lost without my wire pastry blender, which I use for making anything that requires butter cut into dry ingredients (crumb toppings, pie dough, biscuits, etc.) I've tried a few, and the old-fashioned one with wires (not the style with wider blades) is tried and true. Hope you have a return to good health soon!
I hope this makes you feel better, I got COVID at home in June and was hospitalized. Still had to go through all the coughing, etc. I love your cabinets as is, but to countries you could get a cherry wood plate rack?
It is shocking how big of an impact it has had on my body, (and yours also) yet my husband recovered so quickly. I'm hoping it soon goes away and I can get back to normal. I've thought about a plate rack. I like the way they look. I'm in the early stages of gathering ideas and that is definitely one of them. Thanks!
This pie is going to be on my Thanksgiving table!!!…best pumpkin pie I’ve ever tasted!!! Praying for your recovery from the “virus.” I’ve just gotten over it for the third time. Did you ever post your 14 day sweet pickle recipe? I’d love to try it. Wishing you a beautiful autumn on your farm. 😊
It's definitely our favorite pumpkin pie. Thanks for the prayers...it's definitely had an impact on me. Here is a link to a picture of the pickle recipe. I was hoping to do a video this year, but since I didn't need to make any the video will have to wait until next year. Let me know if you can't read the recipe and I'll try to type it out. It's the original card that my friend, Joyce, gave to me. We often call them "Joyce pickles". I hope you have a wonderful Autumn too.
This will be wonderful to have on my Thanksgiving table this year. My son loves pumpkin pie and this will probably be his favorite. Thank you for sharing.

Yeah, I sure didn't like hearing that. 🥴. Thanks for the kind words!!!
Mom aunt always said the messier the kitchen the better the food! Miss you Aunt Velma❤
Oh, I LIKE that!!! Your Aunt Velma was a smart woman.

Oh my word, poor guy. I guess you do all of the pumpkin carving? 😊 Thanks for the well wishes.

Old canning lid works great for scraping seeds. Love your channel! Thankyou for the pie recipe.
THANKS!!! That's a great idea.

I love the fall colors too. Our field corn just came down today. We alternate between field corn and soy beans on the farm. Good to hear from you. :)
Yum🎃!!!!
It's definitely one of our favorites and it's getting to be that time of year again.
That looks so yummy..
Fall is busy putting food up for the winter. But well worth it later❤
It is very yummy. I love the fall season!
Love that recipe, can't wait to try it out on my family xoxo
I'm betting they will love it. 😁
Looks yummy I'll have to try it, love your channel you both look like you have so much fun with whatever you do!!
If you try it, you won't regret it....it's delicious. Thanks for the kind words and yes, we do have a lot of fun. 😁

I do pumpkins this way too! I find that I scoop out less flesh with the seeds when done this way since everything is softer and easier to scoop :)
@@lydia67119 I'll definitely do it that way next time. Thanks!

This pie looks amazing! I'm making this for Thanksgiving. Thanks for sharing.
I'm sure everyone will enjoy it. I'll be making one too.
Love you guys!
THANKS!
Looks delicious! I grew some small pumpkins like yours and have some sweetened condensed milk kicking around in the cupboard. Hmmmmmm...
Go for it...you won't regret it. Enjoy!

Thanks for the suggestion. That would really help in moving the pie. I just ordered a pastry blender...thanks. Thanks also for the get well wishes.
Great video ❤

Everyone that tries it loves it. Thanks for watching.
😊pumpkin pie (don't forget to roast some seeds for a snack).
We've never done that, but I'll have to give it a try next year. Thanks!
You can freeze dry the pumpkin puree too.
I'll have to give that a try. We're still learning all of the ways we can use our freeze dryer. Thanks for the idea.
The fall color is gorgeous! I will have to try that recipe as it looks yummy. Do you feed the cornstalks to your cows as silage?
It is really yummy.....hard to go back to a traditional pumpkin pie. We don't chop silage, but we did feed the sweet corn stalks to the cattle.
Hi! Would you like an unbelievable recipe for key lime pie? Willing to share! 😊
Yes! I would love to try it out. The one I've been making is pretty good, but but quite as good as it should be. Thanks!
Is there an email I can send it to?

Do you have milk cows ?
No, we don't have milk cows, just beef cattle.
