Been a boxer for 25 years been in my work out the whole time I’m pushing 40 lots of people still think I’m in my 20s I agree with everything you just said!!!

Hey so I have been jumping rope for several months now, but I noticed if I do the classic skipping of just both feet up and down my calves tire so quickly (within a minute), so what Ive been doing is either alternate each foot or doing heel toe heel toe alternation if that makes sense (just takes strain off the calves) and I do 1 minute skip, 1 minute rest. Still beneficial im assuming as im sweating like crazy, but should I try both feet method or could i do the alternating and just increase from one minute to 2 (right now im just increasing my total time per session). What im getting at is... you skip on both feet for 1 hour straight no breaks?

I have depression but while I’m jumping rope my only focus is the challenge and the growth with the rope. Started jumping rope within the past 2 weeks, I’m usually on the elliptical…I’ve lost more weight my legs feel better and I get better sleep. I don’t jump rope everyday but I do use the jump rope 5 times out of the week.
As an avid rope jumper (jumped since January 13 to May 5th 2022, M-F, for 50 minutes each day), I can honestly agree to most of this. However, some of this needs clearing up for any newbie who might be considering getting into this hobby. The third reason for jumping rope says Your legs get stronger: “Based on a study, regular rope jumping significaly improves leg strength and sprinting speed. This exercise works your major leg muscles, including the calves, quads, hamstrings, and glutes.” - REALITY: I know you’re seeing the pics of people with nicely defined legs, sort of ripped, but getting ripped muscles from only jumping simply isnt true. If anything, only jumping rope daily sucks the fat out of your leg muscles, calves, quads, hamstrings, and glutes. It doesnt define anything or get you ripped. “With this, the popular belief that strength training is the only way to gain muscle can now be refuted.” - REALITY: Sorry, but strength training IS the ONLY way to gain muscle. Even using a heavy weighted jump rope does not gain muscle on you. Jump rope only shreds the fat out of your body, and nothing else. Yes, its very effective at just that, but know that it can only do that. You will never see muscle gains from jumping rope. 10 weeks of me doing it faithfully back to back followed by 5 back to back weeks changing to a weighted rope can attest to that. @ 8:06 - “One of the major benefits of jumping rope is its positive effect on mental health” -This one is debatable. 11) “Your mental health is better.” “15 minutes of jumping rope a day can reduce feelings of sadness and even help fight depression.” - REALITY: It depends on HOW depressed you are. If only slightly, then maybe it can, but if youve been suffering from major depressive disorder like I have for 25 years, I can guarantee you that jump rope MAY fight the depression at the beginning, but your depression has its own immune system that eventually fights and conquers the good feelings that jump rope puts into you in maybe a couple of weeks. Then, you’ll still jump, but only out of force of habit. And if severe, the depression can hang around even during the jumps, and even after youre done. Under serious depression, the rewarding feeling you feel at the beginning does start fazing out. Talk to your doctor or therapist about taking medication as part of a workout regimen for your serious depression, as exercise alone rarely helps. I also want to add that they show a couple of pics in this video (and any pic on google) about guys jumping rope with defined abs and chest and arms. They did NOT get these well-defined abs and chest and arms solely from jumping rope! Again, jump rope doesnt make you gain muscle in your arms, chest, arms or your legs, the only physical change is that it makes you lose weight. For noticeable muscle gains you have to combine jump rope with ab sculpting exercises (no sit-ups or crunches, as those have been found to do damage to your spinal cord more than strengthen your abs), and chest and arm exercises which involve lifting weights. These are all observations I made from 15 weeks of jumping rope. I still jump to this day. Just I do 30 minutes instead of 50, and I do it three times a week. Nevertheless, I still recommend jump rope as a much better alternative to running or jogging or sprinting or biking to burn calories (and only that). You’ve been warned though: if you take the fifteen week challenge like I did, you will lose weight- lots of weight, and all over! There is no such thing as “spot treatment” where you only lose belly fat and nothing else. In my case, not only did I lose my giant belly, but I lost fat in my arms, my legs, my thighs, my calves, my glutes, my chin, and my face. By the end people were telling me I looked sick (and not the good kind of sick where its a compliment), so I had to cut back. Its THAT effective! Also, NO type or amount of calorie burning exercise regimen is going to burn calories if you dont pair the workout with a healthy low-calorie DIET. If you burn more calories a day than what you eat, then the workouts WILL be effective. If you dont, you will never see any difference. Also, try not to eat any meal high in calories for at least two hours before jumping. If you do, youll only be burning off what you just ate, instead of the bothersome calories already inside you, which is what you want to burn. Speaking of seeing a difference, when I paired jump roping with a low calorie diet, I noticed a small decrease in belly size by the end of the FIRST week. By the end of the third week, other people were noticing it too. It works THAT quickly! You will notice that difference on yourself too! So yeah if you only wanna get super thinner and shred fat: jump rope! But if you want to add muscle and look ripped, lift weights in addition to jumping. You’ll also burn even more calories by combining the two. Good luck, and happy jumping!🫶🏻✊🏼💪🏼🌟 -Tony
@@lizzy8353 One thing I forgot to mention: Another thing regular constant jump rope does for you: It boosts your endurance💪🏼. Its gonna start taking you longer and longer to break a sweat. You should be already feeling an improvement in extra energy for your workouts, and in two months your partner will notice it in the bedroom😎. The way you help in boosting this endurance is: As a beginner beginner, on your first week, try to get to 50 skips, then stop and catch your breath for a minute, then do fifty more, stop for a minute, and then again (or do 25 skips and stop for a min. Depends on your fitness level). Do this until your phone says 15 minutes are over. The next week, instead of 50 skips, try going for 65 and then stopping for a min. Do that for the whole week every day for 20 minutes a day. Thats your Week 2. Keep raising the skip numbers by 10-15 more than what you did the week before. In faster a time than you think youll be doing 45 minutes and skipping 100 skips straight until you stop for a minute. Youll get to 500 skips and you still wont break a sweat. You will surprise yourself! So yeah thats all. Good luck!!😁😁
I never worked out consistently and started to jump rope just for "fun". I've been doing it a couple times a week for a few months already. I have noticed changes and weight loss, a long with better eating habits, integrating some running/walking and light weights. I gained so much weight during covid lockdown I was so unhappy with my body. If you're like me that gets bored with work outs, jumping rope is a fun way to start. I play some fun jams while doing so. My cardio endurance has definitely gotten better.
Yes great video for sure. I broke my ankle during COVID season and I honestly didn’t do my therapy sessions to get my foot and legs back strong. I am so motivated after seeing this video. Now I know how it can strengthen my ankle, my foot, legs, tone my body and relieve some mental stress. Thanks so much for sharing this.
When you will start to do it the key is that just be consistent don't take break because when you will start doing it after taking break for 1 day you will struggle a lot your ankles will be paining and you'll feel heavy and frustrated . Just be consistent and try not to bring your hands up keep them down like really down so that you won't be feeling your shoulders are paining .
I like that you mentioned that it tones the body. I was watching a video where this man's over all body got tone just from jumping rope. He also lost weight too. Lifting weights is not the only way to get toned. It's best to learn about this form of jump rope exercise, and apply it.
Today I jumped rope for the first time in a decade. I couldn't get more than 20 skips without tripping, but I stuck with it for 30 minutes. Tomorrow's another day
I started jumping rope everyday for 5mintues, break every 1mintues. I can tell you I lost massive fat, my heart rate is great, mentality 100..I say rope jumping is better than running or any cardio
I do it for 40 minutes 5 times a week. Because I fast Mondays and Thursdays (PS: the fasting on those specific days is just a Muslim thingy). I've been on it for 6 weeks now. My tummy is reduced greatly, endurance levels are higher, lost a good amount of weight. My man boobs is reduced drastically though my ultimate goal is for it to the boobs to be gone. Flip side: My right knee aches.. Conclusion: I love it...
I started jumping rope recently because I'm isolated from a gym (on the road) and I can't carry any other equipment with me. I'm doing the Jump Rope Dudes 90-day weight loss routine, and so far I am loving it. I'm covered in sweat after 30 minutes, and I get my day off to a fantastic start. It's harder to do when it's very cold outside and I have no indoor space, but the Crossrope jump mat does help in these situations. I'm hoping to stick with this for the next few months to see how things improve. I've combined my route with a low carb diet and intermittent fasting, so let's see where this takes me. I'll post back in a few months with an update!
Wow, thanks for sharing, have always avoided jump roping as I'm not good at it and slightly overweight so I worry about the impact. I'm keen to try it out now, hope to hear about your progress!💪
@@黑猫警长-l2u that's right! Well, it's a 30 min workout and there are some rests so I would imagine the total amount of time actually jumping is like 20 minutes. That alone is intense.
❤😊 yes I am fan of this exercise jump rope .. my exercise is cycling 🚲 and jump rope. Even you jump rope 150 times a day it could help a lot and still can burn calories. Just always listen to your body when you feeling tired or you feeling being heavy weight , just do it jump rope even 150 jumps a day . Jumping rope is really helpful to make you feel relax and to loss fats to your body .. just follow also good diet , eat good amount of food but not too much . And always drink enough of water.. jump rope 3 times a day for beginners..
My favourite workout! I started a while ago and incorporated it in my workout routine. My endurance improved, my legs are lighter than they were. I could go to 10-15 mins straight but I only do 3-4 mins series cuz I have a shoulder problem and the pain becomes unbearable. Anyway, I recommend it to everyone !
Never liked doing cardio, hated running, and jogging! I liked sprinting, but it was so hard on my body and would strain my Achilles Heels, until I couldn’t walk because of the pain... But then I found jumping rope, and have to say, I love it!... Yes it is challenging, but so satisfying, that once you’ve mastered the art of it, it is the only cardio you’ll ever want to do. I love it, it has become a passion of mine, so much so, that I’ll be jumping rope till my 70’s and beyond, the good LORD willing... So go out and buy a jump rope, I recommend the Crossrope brand, and make it a lifestyle, you won’t regret it, I promise.

Im happy i just started on 7 days ago. I must say day 4 was the most challenging because my body was painful, i was almost sick bit i kept on and im much better now. 🤷🏽♀️
I did this before I did like 1500 skips sometimes 3k skips split to 2x a day so 1500 each in a day… I was 73KG and I lost up to 64 to 65KG and then I stopped coz I was going to skinny… it really works… skipping does help for weight loss…
My jump rope is a clear plastic tube with wooden handles. I filled one with water and one with sand. Weighted jump rope.. I'm no good with a normal rope , but the tube keeps it's shape making it easier. I started with an empty plastic tube rope because that's the only rope available in the kickboxing gym. It's a great warm up before training
Doing it over a week now every day it becomes more fun than working out. I still have a lot of improvement to go but it has been a good addition to my other stuff I do😊
I started jumping rope for two day it feel satisfying and I feel could continue done this healthy and good exercise as my routine… this video is touch to me let me have more motivation to continue jumping rope :) thx RUclips suggest this video to me when I start jumping rope❤️
Thank you so much for the information you have shared. I will try my very best to do jumping rope everyday as I am struggling to luz weight my body is overpowering me and am always lazy to do workouts.
I'm 286lbs and planning to start doing jumping rope along with a low carb diet (been on a low carb and lost 41lbs with just that alone and need to move it now) Hope it kicks my weight loss in a higher gear :D
I began using jump ropes and burpees into my workout. Somehow I feel like a badass... It is odd to say it but honestly great at the same time. Trying different burpee combinations like 2-4 pump burpees, bodybuilders, L-sits, w/pull ups, you name it. Doing ladder reps or circuit style workouts does make differences.
The major benefit for me which is not listed here is that it’s a very good wrist exercise, if not the best. As I have already hurt my wrist from doing push ups without warming up my wrist, I always have to wear wrist braces every time I do any reps involving usage of wrists, and I only do pushups with a set of bars. But recently after I use skipping as a warmup cardio, I realise that my wrists can take pressures a lot better. So, as jumping ropes are very affordable, I suggest everyone, especially ones on heavier side, to incorporate skipping to their workout routine.
My wrist used to be weak AF with any floor work when starting out. Poor form and over eagerness caught me out fast. I was given a PowerBall Gyro. Within 28 days I put the thing down and have never had wrist issues again. The muscle I built has compensated for it ever since.
Started jumping roping two days ago and feel a lot better already I hope this helps me lose wait as I need to lose some for soccer can’t wait to came back to this comment and edit it saying I did it and lost weight :)
Jumping rope was kind of a game changer for me fitness wise, that was the one tool that I was overly excited to pick up and use everytime because it’s so addicting and easy to track progress and challenge yourself with
Make sure you rotate your wrists to spin the rope and not rotate with your shoulders, you'll burn out quickly using your shoulders and won't get a good work out.
Am jumping ropes from many years, it helps me in one thing I was always prone to gain much weight due to genetics but in many years I gain to much muscle in legs, high level of musscle mass, even though am overweight due to muscle but my cardio is much much better than many of my skinny friends everyone tells me that I can't walk that much but I can walk to much, it's not only cause of jump rope but due to active lifestyle
I used the weighted jump ropes for a while. They worked great and gave a great workout, but I started getting shin splints. Maybe I did too much, too soon. I need to try to get back into it and ramp my way up, I guess. I’m in pretty good shape and very competitive, so it’s possible I just overdid it.
Yep, you overdid it. Speaking from experience lol. You should: - stretch more, before and after jumps. - start with weightless jump ropes, if you're a beginner. - invest in a great, comfy pair of workout shoes. - consistency is great, but giving your body rest-time, is even better. Don't go at it everytime/everyday, just because you're motivated. You have the right idea now, so start small and build your way up. That's what I'm doing now, cos it gives your body time to adapt.

I’ve been rope jumping since my competitive tennis days 30 years ago. It’s phenomenal and even fun. I’ve tried many variations as to how to incorporate it in an overall fitness regimen, but the one that has provided the most significant and fastest gains is using it for cardio intervals between weight/strength training exercises. I split strength training into upper body and lower body days, 5 strength exercises each day. On upper body days, a typical interval will be e.g. the dumbbell shoulder press, immediately followed by one minute of rope jumping at a pretty intense pace, then one minute of pushups, then another minute of jumping. Then 30 seconds rest and onto the next dumbbell exercise. Lower body day is similar except I do jump squats instead of pushups in between the one-minute rope jump intervals described above. I share this because it’s quick, efficient, and gives me great results and maybe will give you the same.
Jump rope is not only belly fat loss exercise but also thigh and Ass exercise . Most of the youtubers won't say this thing.... It's underrated for thigh n ass
You’re right about the thigh and ass exercise, but not about the belly fat loss thing, it burns calories amazingly absolutely but we can’t actually choose where we lose the fat, it’s completely up to your body :)
@@Yosavaridd depending on the composition, it could do either but for the most part it’ll grow your calf’s :) the poor thing about calf’s tho is that the size of your calf’s are highly decided by your genes. 65 year old male here. Started skipping rope. Was up to about 4 minutes, three times per week. One day felt knee pain then found out I had torn my meniscus. Four months later still recovering. Four months! Never had knee problems and now Dr. Says my knee will never be the same. I question benefits vs risk of rope. It seems like there are other lower impact exercises such as bike or elliptical that would be beneficial without the severe impact of jumping rope.
@@iceoj4980 why take up an exercise that you can’t do for the rest of your life? I do squats, deadlifts, dips, chin ups, and more without any problem. The severe impact is the problem with skipping rope and I know there are variety of other options that achieve the same result without the impact of skipping rope. Younger people’s joints may tolerate it but they will eventually have problems. Not true for most other exercises.
These days you can buy skipping ropes, not the children's ones at any retail shops from about 20-30 dollars, depending where you can shop, or retail shops could have specials on such equipment such as skipping ropes, etc. Just need to look for somewhere which you can buy one, not that expensive. Also just a matter where you want to buy a skipping rope too. Matt

Good luck, and happy jumping!🫶🏻✊🏼💪🏼🌟

Thanks for the advice!
@@kartikasari8351 No prob! Anytime. Good luck!😊
Thanks for clearing up those things. I have just started jump roping a few days ago and i plan on sticking with it for a while.
@@jblackbath Thank you (also no partner will be noticing anything as i'm only 15 lol)
I've been jumping rope for 3 months now, feel amazing, could see body changing. I stop when my body tells me too.🤸♂️🤸♀️🤸
Yes great video for sure.
Feeeeeel the burnnnn👊🏿🔥😲
I like that you mentioned that it tones the body. I was watching a video where this man's over all body got tone just from jumping rope. He also lost weight too. Lifting weights is not the only way to get toned. It's best to learn about this form of jump rope exercise, and apply it.
Does it reduce breast size?
Today I jumped rope for the first time in a decade. I couldn't get more than 20 skips without tripping, but I stuck with it for 30 minutes. Tomorrow's another day
How’s it going to today ( also 30 minutes is actually really good even though you can’t do more than 20 most than most starters )
I have started jumping rope for a week now . I definitely feel the results
I started jumping rope everyday for 5mintues, break every 1mintues. I can tell you I lost massive fat, my heart rate is great, mentality 100..I say rope jumping is better than running or any cardio
Bro can we get same Benifit with skipping without rope
I do it for 40 minutes 5 times a week. Because I fast Mondays and Thursdays (PS: the fasting on those specific days is just a Muslim thingy). I've been on it for 6 weeks now. My tummy is reduced greatly, endurance levels are higher, lost a good amount of weight. My man boobs is reduced drastically though my ultimate goal is for it to the boobs to be gone.
Flip side: My right knee aches..
Conclusion: I love it...
Glad I introduced myself to the Jump roping 3 years ago, now I'm looking better and feeling better than I've ever had!

Anyway, I recommend it to everyone !
i just cant stop jumproping! i do jumprope everyday for about 45mins or more straight. today i got 9k jumping💪
How do u count bro.... Seriously 9k?

I definitely incorporate jumping rooe in my regimen, I also advise clients to do the same.

IT WORKED ,and I have been keeping it going.
Up to 30 seconds trying to do 3 sets at 30 seconds but 2 sets all i can do for now but man am i hyped at my progress
I can think of a better wrist exercise, only takes about 2 seconds aswell, feels pretty good...
My wrist used to be weak AF with any floor work when starting out. Poor form and over eagerness caught me out fast. I was given a PowerBall Gyro. Within 28 days I put the thing down and have never had wrist issues again. The muscle I built has compensated for it ever since.
Thank you for the video, I shall surely enhance my jump rope skills.💪🏽

Exactly.. I personally hate exercise but its the only one i love!
Make sure you rotate your wrists to spin the rope and not rotate with your shoulders, you'll burn out quickly using your shoulders and won't get a good work out.

You should:
- stretch more, before and after jumps.

Just the video I have been searching for! Thanks a lot.

Does it make your calves bigger or smaller?
@@Yosavaridd depending on the composition, it could do either but for the most part it’ll grow your calf’s :) the poor thing about calf’s tho is that the size of your calf’s are highly decided by your genes.
