I wonder of this unassuming, quietly spoken man comprehends just how popular amongst the hairy biking, engineering and dull old men communities he is. Allen Millyard we love you!
The velo solex, my introduction to internal combustion on 2 wheels! We bought it on holiday from a junk shop in France for 25 euros, the address on the suppling dealers label (round the corner) was amazingly still a bike shop and even more incredibly had 2 new Michelins on the shelf. WD40 or similar down the plug hole overnight, old piece of cable bodged into a semi functional HT lead and we were riding around the campsite next day!
@@gregtaylor6146 Actually some joined in with the bodgery or offered advice/tools and others smiled and told us how they used to have one etc. The French appreciate their heritage and younger generations are strongly encouraged to go outside and learn/practice useful skills. We're talking about a few gentle test runs, during the early afternoon in a sparsely occupied and open site, primarily under pedal power as dirty carb and wobbly diy HT lead made for very intermittent and unreliable running. We just wanted to see if it would/could go. You'll be glad to know the hairline crack/split on the underside of the fuel tank leaking the occasional drop of fuel onto the exhaust below ended play fairly quickly.
See, Jimmy Savile was NEVER a national treasure but everyone knew him. Alan Millyard on the other hand IS a national treasure but only us bikers know about him! The world is the wrong way round!
The Buick has the proper amount of patina! I remember my dad had a '56 Special & a '57 Roadmaster. Mom liked the '57 Chrysler Saratoga though. Them we're the good ole days!
Not only the flux gap but also the flux density. It worked when it was new, but these old magnets lose their power over time, so the loss of flux density, plus a large flux gap results in too little power from the magneto to generate a spark.
That’s a nice little battery set up on the ( previously magneto spark bike engine) but it will need a charge before each ride as it doesn’t have an engine driven dynamo. It is lovely though!
3 cups of tea! That's a bit optimistic? 😮😳😁 Edit- ok I just watched the end...😊 I'll bet all it needed was a carb 'tickle', the previous owner probably didn't realise what that button was for? Runs sweet.....😊
Great video as always. Alan is a master!! I’d be keen to know what’s been changed that the flywheel air gap is incorrect or at least, can’t be adjusted back?. One more question, how will the battery be recharged? There isn’t an alternator and reg / rec. I suppose for a short ride it doesn’t matter :)
To be quite honest Henry 🤷🏻♂️ I’ve never heard of flux gap either. Only ever heard of flux compensater, but that was on a Delorion & Millyard was a mad professor.
Knowledge is knowing that "Frankenstein" was the Doctor........ Wisdom is knowing that Dr Frankenstein was the Real Monster...... Henry has Knowledge, But Allen has the Wisdom... :-))
Well shit I bought one of these a few decades ago out of a barn in Woodstock Ct and have not put much effort into getting it to go it looks great as is and set me back a whole 200 bucks i planned on restoring it in my retirement but maybe I’ll start early
Millyard is sooo humble.
evil genius
@@michaeltaylor8835For sure!
Even when he's called 'Mill-Ward" 😂
Mr Millyard IS knowledge, I love to watch ❤ this genius. Wh. from Sweden.
Allen is a the MAN. Always a plesure to see him work his magic.
I swear, give Allen a cup of tea, a cupcake, a couple of hours, and he'd get a Matchbox bike running.
Amidst the world going to shit, at least we were alive long enough to see Allen Millyard fix things on RUclips.
Amen to that!
That is what the one brass feeler Guage in the set is for. It's non magnetic so you can check the gap without the magnet grabbing it.
Persumably then the coil positions can be adjusted?
Allen is the GOAT :)
Allen is a god when it comes to motorcycles.
I wonder of this unassuming, quietly spoken man comprehends just how popular amongst the hairy biking, engineering and dull old men communities he is. Allen Millyard we love you!
An engineering genius at work. Mr Cole you are lucky to have him. My regards to you both.
Thanks Henry & Allan & Guy. The three of you remind me "The Last of the Summer Wine" totally awesome.
I love Allan at work especially when he is cutting engine's in half welding em back together genius stuff love the channel MrCole.
Mr Millyard with his knowledge, Guy with his character and Henry with his charm 😂 - winning combination!
Agreed. There's a little bit of the original Top Gear vibe to them.
Legends on wheels , all the best gents
That era Buick always takes me back to the old TV program Highway Patrol with Broderick Crawford. What a beaut!
Outstanding job on getting that bike to run. Bet it is a blast to ride.
What a star that man is ❤

I bet the other campers on that sight were overjoyed ........ NOT.

Alan's combination of genuine technical knowledge & patience again. When a bike sees Alan walk in, it just wants to run 😉
I always enjoy these videos
Thank you for the entertainment.
This video turned out perfect, and I'm quite pleased with that
😂
Watching you lot on the telly is like watching Last of the Summer Wine 😂😂😂😂
Humility and genuine experience makes all the difference.
I could smell it when that bike started up 😍
Allen is the 'motorbike whisperer!'. Brill, Nuff said. 🙂
That’s exactly what I was thinking when I watched this!
Just love these blokes.....really cheers me up watching any of them fannying about!!!👏🏻👍🏻😄

I never get tired of listening to and watching Henry, Alan, Guy, Fuzz and Sam. And jellybean !!
Keep on drinking the tea.....

Realy love this program.
Pure joy. Thank you men
Allen is the Yoda of engineering.
The BIG question is: has Allen's missus ever ventured into pains au chocolat?
A flux-ing good effort!
Allen is a legend, deserving of a Knighthood at the very least !
New governor general for New Zealand!
I do not like motorbikes, but love watching Henry and his mates having fun
When it comes to knowledge, you may hardly find any better than Millyard.
If you put Millyard, China and Sam Lovegrove in a workshop I bet the end result would be cool af!
See, Jimmy Savile was NEVER a national treasure but everyone knew him. Alan Millyard on the other hand IS a national treasure but only us bikers know about him! The world is the wrong way round!
A very Happy Birthday!
Many Thanks also for all the videos 🙏🔥💐🌺
Vid title one letter away from being naughty. Clever boy!
Your TV is watchable, i cannae deny it.
Allen is a motorcycle wizard!
Millyard is genius 👏
Mildly ought to be made a Lord. The man is a genius. Super Star. So humble.
A master at work 👍
There is no one quite like Allen.
Nice work guys whod a thunk it the flux capacitor eh 😂

The look of that bike in 2024.... I love it... just down to the bare - no nonsens'.. Cheers From Denmark 👋
The Buick has the proper amount of patina!
I remember my dad had a '56 Special & a '57 Roadmaster.
Mom liked the '57 Chrysler Saratoga though.
Them we're the good ole days!
Learnt something new, every day - "Flux Gap"
Good to see he didn't Flux things up
Allen is a wonder and the focus on his own, he don't need any support.
Keep Allen fed on cup cakes give him a grinder and I'm sure I'm sure you will have a v twin by the end of the day.
Thanks Henry Thanks Allen

Your dog should have her own show
Hour & a half? Only one cup of tea 😂😊
Yuk Henry. That tea looks as though it doesn't have tea in it!
Flux me Allan is amazing
He doesn't miss a thing
😅 its always flux capacitor !
Even if you threw it over a cliff , it wouldn't reach 88 mph ( I think that's the required speed )
Allen is a genius. (Oops, typo)
At least get his name right.
Yes, I See. The Flux Capacitor Was Only Putting Out 1.20 Gigawatts & It Needs To Generate 1.21 Gigawatts. Millyard FTW!! Thanks For Making My Day!
Alan is a WIZARD !
Genius is Allen
At least it wasn't the flux capacitor that had failed, otherwise part 2 could have been filmed in 1871.
The Living Legend!
I could watch hours of this fun
I am A. Millyard #1 fan!!! 🙂🙂👍
Henry, please please give me wee jelly bean.
Come on Henry, you've seen 'Back to the Future' and the Flux Capacitor on the DeLorean, so the Flux Gap is probably it's 'Evil Twin'.
Great video as always. Alan is a master!! I’d be keen to know what’s been changed that the flywheel air gap is incorrect or at least, can’t be adjusted back?. Always great

All credit to Henry on his lack of interest!
Knowledge is knowing that "Frankenstein" was the Doctor........ Wisdom is knowing that Dr Frankenstein was the Real Monster...... Henry has Knowledge, But Allen has the Wisdom... :-))
Alan the GOAT
I am fairly happy with my lot, but if I could be Allens` neighbour and friend I would be in heaven.
Cole has come on a bit since he was doing peoples sheds at night with the Gallagher brothers 😁
tell me when allen visits does he come with Mandy cake ??
Well shit I bought one of these a few decades ago out of a barn in Woodstock Ct and have not put much effort into getting it to go it looks great as is and set me back a whole 200 bucks i planned on restoring it in my retirement but maybe I’ll start early
Flux gap.... I love that word
If I had that Buick, I’d keep it as is.
Allen Millyard! Nuff said!
Would love to watch this whole series but I don't live in the UK and don't have a VPN. Anyone have an alternative method?
Claimed 3 cups but it took Allen only 1.5 cuppa.
Allen, has the knowledge maybe Honda could use him in their HRC team
Just brilliant 😉
flux capacitor is very important
....Probably 3. Nope> 1hr & a hauf
'flux gaup' -had to go back & look at that again...heard 'flux cap'
Next child a flux gaup😂🤣
it's "GAP" which is: "clearence" - or the small space between two objects - hope this helps
Allen Millyard !
Flux gap !
Younger generation & magnetos ???
In a class all by himself !
