Almost 30 SD2 videos and only one tutorial? If anything kills this game, is the lack of tutorials and manual for new players :(
I'm not struggling to understand how to play the game because a lot of the mechanics are left over from SDN44, but for new players I can understand the struggle. A few new features don't take that long to learn like new command units, artillery observers, and commissars, but the army general is one of the biggest blunders. I only know what I'm doing through Eugen demonstrations and watching other people play, but I still struggle to know what I'm doing or supposed to be doing. It's not a grand strategy like hearts of iron, you're just grabbing territory for no reason. So then I think to myself, what's the point?
Well, I think this game's target audience is mostly players of SD44, RUSE or any of the Wargame titles.
Sure, Army General isn't easy to understand right away, but the point, like any skirmish or online battle, is to win and most importantly to have fun :p
im trying to play hte game, and so far ive won 1 match out of many, simply by being russian and throwing men at the problem. trying to do the first campaign, and i know its the most difficult, but somehow i think the game basics arnt explained well enough to me. "here are some units, throw them against the enemy, use the AI so you have to do nothing", doesnt really explain how indept and horribly complicated this game actually is. this game make me long for the days of call of duty where i can simply be a freaking peasent among millions and go out there and die.
Vulcan, many thanks for supplying your battlegroup codes, a big leg up for a new player. Much appreciated
Glad I could help!
Great, I'm looking forward to the tutorials to come. Thanks for the effort.
Yay! I've had the game since the first beta and still feel and act like a complete noob. Been looking forward to these tutorials! Many thanks!
Excellent! Been waiting for this and it came on my bday!
Please do more tutorial videos. 👍 📚 📼
or just play and learn .
@@Thonglover37 or just don’t be a dickhead?
Providing tutorials for complicated games earns you automatic entry to the afterlife of your choice! The blessings of the Machine Spirit be with you!
Good man. Thank you for producing this 👍🏻
Nice to see your videos featured in SD2, mang! Going to have to watch them all now!
Thanks! It's awesome.
Pro tip to get yourself better at the game:
Watch your Replays, look what went wrong and what went right for the enemy.
Even look at your succes, why did it succed, etc.
Pro-players of *all* games do that, thats how they *actually* improve outside of games.
Because most of the time they dont spend in games, but practice and rewatching.
Granted maybe not so much in SD2, but games like Rocket League.
Most hours pros are playing are practice and watching sessions.
Thank you Sir Marvelous explanation, if only developers would do this with all games. Lol I would hire you. GL
Great tutorial series, thanks for all the effort!
The Battlegroups are amazing for a first time player! Would you happen to have a list of DLC that is needed for each one? I don't have all the DLC so I am unable to import some of the groups. Thank you for creating this, it is very helpful for new players!!
Great video, thanks for the Tutorial
Really good starting guide, very useful.
i LOVE the intro . so on point :D
Just watching this to give you some more views and support. Keep up the good work vulcan and see you tonight for your stream :)
Thanks, although next stream is next weekend. Will update on the community page when I know which days for sure.
The 2023 shorthand: Single-Player and multiplayer 1v1 is all about infantry spam, get in there and push to hold. Tanks and such are just to support and hold the land that infantry rushes took.
Multiplayer is mostly 10v10 which is the exact opposite. The name of the game for most Multiplayer matches is heavy armor, heavy guns, and off-map arty...preferably hittting all at once to frustrate the other player so they rage/sad quit.
Watching these videos is slowly but surely making me less intimidated by SD2 (and hopefully preparing me for WARNO down the line). As someone who very rarely dips a toe into strategy games, thanks.
It's still a bit silly that these kind of games don't have decent/proper ingame tutorials and the community just expects you to learn by watching hours of videos.
VulcanHDGaming:: That's Hell of good Advice 18:23 ima do that and keep playing with Ai till i start getting better TY man and thanks for the Google Docs Custom Made Decks, course ur name will be on them.
thank you for the tutorial. Appreciated.
Thank you for this intro. I picked this game up and could not find any help or tutorials. These will help us noobs get into the game.
Looking forward to more tutorials
As someone who plays more age of empires, stronghold and total war this was quite helpful
Useful thanks! Do you have any plans on playing the Army General?
Campaign video will be out in 3 hours
Awesome job; very helpful!
None of the codes I've tried to import from your file work? All give a "The string does not represent a valid battlegroup" error. Same result for base units as DLC units. not sure what I'm doing wrong there, but thought I'd mention it in case someone else is biting the curb with them.
Thank you for making this! So useful for a noob like me.
My pleasure, make sure to also check out the following tutorial.
Fantastic Job soldier - Regarding importing I noticed if I export it copies it to clipboard then if I import after that my clipboard remembers the last export and automatically puts it in there so we have to understand when we import we gotta remove the jargon.
So, one question, if I buy SD1 after installing SD2 I still get the back to war DLC?
Thank you so much for the tutorial man, it's very useful to new players!!
thanks good info
god bless you mate!
The playlist Eugen Systems made with the community guides is a total of 2 hours jesus christ
2 hours is pretty fair. I remember EU4 was a nightmare to learn at first. Like what was important and what wasn't. It's sandbox so it's a lot less clear in the beginning.
SD2 you learn what doesn't work and what works really quickly. Very complex underneath but it's accessible because they didn't make it as granular as some of their past titles. Cutting out a lot of extraneous detail is something Paradox doesn't do at all. Everything here is like spreadsheets.
I'm making a spreadsheet for this game to track decks and whatnot 😂. I love it, but I have thousands of hours in strategy games.
Does Eugen have plans to add the DLC divisions from Normandy 44 as additional Back to War DLC?
This is really useful, as I plan to buy Steel Division 2 one of the days!
Thank you
Great introduction. I’ve only played the first few tutorials so far and I’ll definitely be watching the rest of these vids before venturing any further. Something I wonder if I just can’t see for looking though… During the tutorials I wanted to pause, but couldn’t find the key. Also I’d really like to see a “follow cam” for individual units, is this a thing?
Playing 1v1 Bobr on defence against 4 ai is crazy, I love it.
Bit annoying you can't filter the armoury by division, as some units are available only in certain divisions.
THX for the good Turorial.
Other Question: is Wargame: Red Dragon to old or playabel?
btw vulcan nice my favorit Bomberplain
I honestly think there will be the other Axis minors aswell
Finland, Romania, Bulgaria even maybe, etc.
The expansion pass lists new nations as coming, so I'd assume either Romanians or Bulgarians since they're likely close to the AO during the time period of the game (Summer 1944)
Great!
I would enjoy more tutorials
awesome channel!
Thank you!
What happened to that Armoury tutorial? I remember watching it a while ago but I can't seem to find it now
bless u sir
Where's the next one? ;-) Just razzing you, but would love to see the next one in the series.
Watching this while down loading the game. :D
I just downloaded the game after watching your videos! I was wondering which reinforcement packs I should dowload... Ive seen comments that some or a hoax and actually come with the standard game. I know thay are free... I just whant to know which are worth dowloading.
Can't use your battlegroups because it has stuff we can't access.
Hussah!!!!!!! Good man! Hoping you delve in to the Army General, the Campaign manual is tits on fish!
I preordered sd2 on steam and don’t have access to the campaign?
On sale right now in steam!!
Question, is there a way to extend. 1 playtime and eliminate points/ capture points win loss? Kind want the kill all enemy/rout enemie on the battlefield (like less then 10% ) - like in close combat.
In conquest mode when both players have 12 points for very long, everyone run out of units, so practically who have more units in the end, wins (by capturing entire map) longest game I had about 85 minutes. In breakthrought same points end up in draw.
i need to know how to group units in battle. for example mortars and how to quick select them to make them attack something without scrolling down the map
Use Ctrl and a number to create a group whilst having the mortars selected, then when you need them, select the number of the group you assigned them to. Press T to fire position and voila! I'll be showing it in the basic gameplay tutorial.
you can also press tab to give order only to one unit in selection. T-click-tab-T-click-tab-T-click to give 3 mortars 3 different targets. The same with smoke but B instead of T.
Nice work. Am new to SD. Cut my teeth on Company of Heroes 2. Is this game worth the time needed to learn how to play? Seems like having to take a university level course in something. I like games I can sink my teeth into but still..... I hope the SD AI is just as good as this video. :)
How copy/paste in the deck code? option isn't appearing.
I can't even change my nickname, lol. The box doesn't come up to type in. All seems overwhelming and that I should get college credits for learning it, still I love WW2 RTS and will give it a go.
The battlegroup code for the 184th Rifles Division is not recognized by the game. I tried to manually copy and paste it and it still stated that it was not a valid code.
When i copy one of the battlegroups codes, it doesnt give me the option to right click and paste the code in game. Am I missing something?
I am way past being able to learn a complicated game, let alone manage so many set pieces on a battlefield. What I would like to know is if I can build two armies, make both sides AI and watch how the game unfolds.
hi might appreciate your videos, trying your deck codes a lot are saying invalid?
I'll be updating them all in the coming couple weeks.
Look at this little conscripts
Here's what not to do: Do Not begin with the Army General campaign. You have been served a friendly warning! :-)
Edit: You will be steamrolled without mercy.
Why not?
is it easy to learn tp play
Where do I find the Battle Groups to import from your setup?
There is a link in the description :)
Any news on why panzer lehr is missing units from SD44
All western divisions missing units, bazooka scout plane (I dont know if anyone ever use it) for 3rd, Challenger tank from 15th Scottish (I liked this one though it's more a tank destroyer role than tank) and few others.
There are no news about it.
If I buy SD 1944 after getting SD2, do i get the free DLC as well.
You will get the Back To War DLC I believe, yes.
Is there an Australian Campaign ?
I'm having trouble importing any of your battle groups. I'm copying the codes, but they aren't automatically pasting in game. Anyone have any advice on how to get it to work?
Just discovered...if you double click on the BLUE link...it opens the full link. I copied this...and in appeared in my import box then.
Holy shit
A video just covering the main menu
THE MAIN MENU
talk about shilling
I can't download most of the Battlegroup codes because they have DLC units. Is there any way to note the ones that don't have DLC units? Or is there another list? Thanks!
There is a link to an excel spreadsheet which lists the divisions and codes on the document. It shows which DLC you need for which division.
@@VulcanHDGaming Excellent!!
ffs THANK YOU
How much more demanding on your system is this game compared to SD:44...?
not too bad actually. Runs pretty smooth.
Could you tell me how can I paste the code in the game?
Go to battle groups and click import in the bottom right
Doesn't give option to paste after I click Import.
what kind of complex game dont have ingame tutorial?
It does these days :)
39 maps?? I currently only see 8 in the menu.
I'm not wondering what to do next, I'm wondering when they're going to fix the stupid "press C to crash" bug.
Report it on the forums or on the discord if that's the case. I've never had an issue with it, not since the beta at least.
i can't copy and paste the codes
Sorry to hear, might work with a different browser.
Not to be picky, but... 3:22 I'm not sure it's fantastic practice to be playing at half-speed. To get used to the game mechanics sure, but not the gameplay... I played SD44 at half speed... and never got used to full-speed because of it.
Nice, I didnt know we could use NATO symbols for the units.
ok ive been watching quite a few steel division 2 videos and can someone explain to me how this game is fun, because it just looks awful. yea its got some new and nice move commands and combat features but it seems like any of the three wargames and ash and shadows are much more fun and give more freedom on what to do and how to play? also seem more tactical and balanced than this.
War porn☺️ Do you need SD1 installed to get the Brits etc in SD2?
P.s Great vid!
I think so. I got the 15th Infantry in SD2 for owning SD1. There also the 3rd armored, canadians and french. Or like Vulcan said, buy the Back To War DLC for SD2.
you need SD1 purchased, not installed.
@@Lykas_mitts Presses pause. Thks.
"so you purchased steel division 2..."
N...no?
...but yes
I just bought the game, And realize I need to pay a extra 30$ to play a Canadian Division -.-
multiplayer ruined the game single player is where STEEL DIV 2 IS AT
Why did you make this? Just read the manual lol
I was expecting a guide for new players. Not this menu walk through. Honestly if you are buying a Grand Strategy. You should at less the gaming skill to navigate a menu.
wow, why on earth do you have to design a battlegroup before you've even learnt how to play the game..... madness
Because you need a battlegroup to play. I also have a deck sheet full of pre made divisions if you need them.
So many different groups , and USA only has 2 xD what a joke
This game is getting RIPPED on Steam in reviews so I bought Gothic Armada II on sale instead for $26.00.
it has like 71% postitive reviews.
Jesus Loves You
This is not a tutorial.
What a downgrade the ui literally looks like it’s from unreal engine marketplace
oh, this british accent. So hard to understand...
MP SUX ON THIS GAMETOXIC PLAYERAS single player general mode beats mp anyday
BaTTle groups, not Baddle groups, you're not american
I bet the Devs loved you, worst tutorial in history, I can Imagine in real life you find it hard to get yourself accross. Damn going through every option menu. thats the way not to do a Tutorial. Get people straight into game skirmish using battlefield mechanics then the rest of the options menu will naturally follow.
Check out the Basic Gameplay tutorial if you'd like help with game mechanics.
