I'm Filipino-Canadian and it makes sense. The Q400 costs an Airline $2000 Cdn or $81,000 Php an hour to operate this includes fuel and maintenance. If PAL decided to dry lease or finance the Aircraft instead of purchasing the Q400 it would only cost PAL $5000 Cdn an hour. In retrospective its costs $10,000 Cdn an hour just for fuel on a 777 and that does not including maintaining the aircraft. For Island hopping the Q400 makes perfect sense.
Flown in them 2 times this year in Philippines, definitely one of my favourite planes. Even though they do feel wobbly in the air. They power up so damn fast at take off it’s crazy.
I've rode on this aircraft just earlier going home and surprisingly it's more quiet than the turboprop planes Cebu Pacific have. The noise is still there, but it's more muffled
So delighted to ride with this aircraft. as an Aircraft enthusiast this bird is beautiful and surprisingly quiet for a narrow extended fuselage, extended range Q400 NG. Turboprops finest!
congrats Philippine Airlines...i will try to fly with u with Q400 soon..last time i fly with Q400 was late 90s SAS Scandinavian Airlines System in Copenhagen to Hamburg flight
Omg...how tight is the pitch on the new config of those seats?? BTW...this type of aircraft is extra noisy because of how/where the engines are located (so close to the fuselage creates a reverb drone sound) and can't climb high enough to go above bad weather...but rather it must fly through it. Why are airlines not investing in/considering a regional jet strategy like the C-series or Mistubishi's MRJ70/90?
71cm leg room... For 1h 30 min is enough but more it will be really tight. I am just thinking that some airlines have 74cm and i think that is tight. As a person with a hight of 1m 73cm it's okay, but taller people really will have problems
I wonder how they delivered it from Toronto to Manila? if the Q400 is intended and made for short haul flights??? 🤔 Anyone's welcome to shed some light on this.. really curious...
@@souko6229 thought of that as well altho NAIA Manila Airport runway is not made for big jets like Dreamlifter or Beluga.. this is also why A380 cant land at Manila Airport.
Its not dummy. Its a turbo-prop which is a jet turbine engine that drives a propeller. Turbo-props are beneficial as they use less fuel and are easier to maintain then a pure jet engine. I shouldn't have to educate you but the biggest cost to maintaining an Aircraft is the engine. Its costs almost nothing to operate a Q400 which is $2000 Cdn an hour.
Donnie Ledesma the Q400 aircraft is mainly used for “interisland” destination, short distance destination, fewer pax vol, small airport with small runways. It is illogical for pax to avoid the Q400 flight coz it is the only aircraft capable of servicing that destination. I regularly take this bet cdo-cgy and I even enjoyed the old q400. Never had complaints on the legroom and for crying out loud it is just a short flight not even an hour.
@@russ3llfromup good to hear you are happy with 17 inch wide seats and 28 inch pitch. For most normal sized adults 5'10 and up it is tight and uncomfortable. Luckily Cebu Pacific is now deploying the A320 on Cebu-Iloilo and Cebu-CdO routes. Enjoy the Q400 for all it's worth. Even the ATR72 Cebu Pacific uses for short runway routes with thinner passenger volumes like Cebu-Camiguin has wider seats at 18 inches.
Bombardier is so much beautiful and the best aircraft of Pal than the ATR72 of Cebu Pacific
Thank you PAL for buying Bombardier.... Bombardier has the best Aircraft and very reliable.
This aircraft has good & very efficient & reliable turbo engines.
Chad both Bombardier & airbus provide the most efficient aircraft. Boeing is pretty good as well.

Chad It's an amazing plane. First flew it a long long time ago in Canada. Now where I live it's the only plane in and out of this area
CRJ is great! :SD
Bombardier deserves much credit for developing the aircraft, the Q400. I love to watch Captain Marina's video, of Baltic Air. She is a great pilot.
Havilland Canada developed the "Dash 8" and when Bombardier bought the company in 1992 they renamed it to Q400

It does a mean barrel roll too!
I get to fly that plane last year and omg,, it was like a rollercoaster ride
We used that plane going to Coron and i'd say it runs very very fast upon take off and landing.
This video is treasure for me. Thank you for sharing.
Love the 1st part of the video with the different designs & music 🎶
In PAL they call it the flying pencil
PCA- PAPER CRAFT AVIATION no the a340 is the flying pencil
I thought the 757 was the flying pencil.

What are the differences to latest ATR72? I love both.. but I´d like to decide which one is my next beautiful big scale RC model ;)

Seeing a cutaway of the Q400 makes me realize just how *big* of a propeller driven airliner it is. It's a prop but it's HUGE!!!!

The plane of a real king and a real hero...

Bombardier Q400 NextGen отличный самолёт... Моделирование и ещё раз моделирование!
Great looking aircraft
We flew on this yesterday from cagayan de oro. Its better than cebu pacific.
Mohon info untuk usaha penyewaan pesawat terbang dmn yaa
Every flight on these type of planes and I sit in a window seat, there is always no window for me to look out (it happened on two flights)
How come delta airlines and AA do not use your aircraft?
It’s very beautiful
You all comments respect our country and airline company im a filipino
I love the Q400!
PAL’s Q400’s are way better than Qantas’ as Qantas has ageing Q400 fleets and horrible seats and legroom
Pal Nice Design I Want Quickly Ride On This Plane Q400 This Going To Tagbilaran Bohol
My favorite cabin is extra capacity

It's horrible, 28 inches. I'm 5'10" and it is cramped. Avoid the 90 seater PAL Q400s always.
Well its because of *FUEL*
Still better than the old Dash. Isn't the max altitude 24,000 feet? Should be close enough to a kid.some bad weather or turbulence.
Wow that's a beautiful aircraft
I want to fly this aircraft so badly

or maybe they ship it? or perhaps make at least 2 legs of the delivery flight. 1st leg, land somewhere then refuel then fly again to destination.

This plane has the worst legroom of any PAL's planes. Avoid all Q400 flights on PAL if you can.
