I’m a retired Marine Corps GySgt who had 3 tours in Vietnam 🇻🇳 and was a Marine Corps Drill Instructor. I loved the Corps but it was very costly. I lost my family because I was gone from them. I was medically retired as a double amputee with 100% VA. 😢
Thank you for your service and sacrifice to a country that did not treat you well upon your return. Sorry you lost your family due to that war. From an Army guy.
As an 8 year Army Infantry veteran I can tell you that what this man did was nothing short of supernatural. I spent most of my time with the 101st Airborne division. A legendary unit full of tough hombres. But we were like kids on a playground next to the Navy Seals. They were playing chess while we were eating crayons. Warfighters so finely honed and deadly that it honestly made us feel like cavemen fighting with rocks and clubs. The crazy part was, they thought WE were the real heroes.

Seeing this in theaters with my dad is one of my core memories i hold with him. He passed away 4 years ago from fentanyl but before he got into the drugs he was a completely normal hard working single father, guy would give you the shirt off his back and literally go out of his way to help you if you needed helping. Pretty sure we went to the dollar store to get a bunch of snacks and snuck it all in to watch the movie ahaha Because my dad was a CAF Jet engine mechanic he loved anything related to the military so it was just destined for me to love it aswell. I think the first war movie we saw in theaters was 2012’s act of valor and the last one was 2016’s Hacksaw ridge.
Thank you to all our servicemen and women who made the ultimate choice to serve this country and to go out there putting their lives in danger to protect those who do not have that calling. I do not think there is another director who could have done it better than Clint Eastwood. I have seen this movie several times and not once did I criticize it. It felt so real and I cried at the end when they made Chris's funeral part of the movie. That was the most respectful and ultimate nod to honor this American Veteran as well as all American Veterans it ranks up there as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the honor this nation should have for our military.
this movie is one of my favorite Hollywood movies. Unlike other warfare movies, this movie focused on the humane side of a soldier. That's the point that makes this movie special and different from other movies. I read Chris Kyle's autobiography. His story was scary and heartwarming and sad at the same time. Both movie and the book are amazing. If you haven't read Chris Kyle's autobiography, you should start reading it. it will touch your heart and make you cry.

Maybe if you also search and watch the physiological damaged they end up with and maybe the no benefits they get once they are veterans. You won’t feel you lose that much.
I thank all who have served to protect our freedoms! Although they make a great sacrifice to fight for our country please don't forget the wives and children who are left behind. I am the wife of a 26 year retired senior chief. I went through 6 deployments and weeks and months of work ups leading to those deployments my husband did while serving in the Navy. He was on his first deployment when we had our first child. Being left with two children to raise and no supportive family it took a toll on me. In 1997 I had what I call a nervous breakdown. The stress placed on me came crashing down. I was hospitalized and went through severe depression. Spouses go through a lot trying to support their husbands and holding down the family while he is away. Not only do service men and women go through difficult times, so do their spouses.
Fantastic coincidental timing! I was thinking the past couple days about re-watching this movie and then this BTS documentary gets uploaded right around the exact same time. Thank you.
I disagree; I'd say the sacrifice of ANY soldier for freedom and democracy, be it American, British or any other like minded country is the ultimate sacrifice
