I have used an oil extractor on boats for years as inboard auxiliary engines are mounted so low that you can't get to the drain plug. It is very beneficial to bring the engine to operating temp before attempting to extract the oil the viscosity will be reduced and the oil will come out much faster. 45minutes is way to long to wait for cold thick oil.
I had an OEM version of this tool without the pneumatic option. The pump failed after six or so uses. Then the company ghosted me when I tried to get some help. You just sold me on that one's replacement. Nice vid!
John, I recommend changing the oil filter before or during extraction to ensure all of the old oil is removed. There is some oil trapped inside the filter housing and its released when you take off the oil filter. I believe this is why you still had some oil in the pan when drain plug was removed. On my 2007 C350, I can hear a little bit of air pressure being released as I slowly take the filter cap off. Basically the same sound you get when removing a cap off a soda bottle. Hope this helps you and viewers.
I'm 57 and on my wife's 2018 C300, you have to take off both belly pans to access the oil pan bolt. I am done with that!!! I wondered of I could do this through the dipstick tube, and I have an air compressor. Thanks for making this video!
Great Great job John! I have just ordered one to do oil changes on my 2014 C300 4Matic (exactly like yours, but in blue) and my MK6TDI: tired of crawling under my cars on the driveway! Last month, an unexperienced kid here in Quebec lost his life when his car jack failed...He did not use proper jack stands...I always use jack stands with locking pins (one can also put the wheels under the rocker panels, just for extra safety), but doing the oil with this tool will make the job a breeze!
@JohnCanFixAnything my friend has a 2014 c350 and used my extractor and couldn't get any oil out of the engine, is there a reason you used the wire to run the tube down
Great job, John! Are you still doing oil change this way? Are you concerned about the little left over old oil staying in? I'm about to start to do my first C300 oil change myself in a week.
It’s been a great car. Zero issues with the engine. Had to replace a radiator fitting a couple years back that started leaking. It turned out to be plastic and not metal.
@@JohnCanFixAnything Great! I just finished mine! Wow, so proud of myself:-) First time ever in my life:-) and just figured out and reset the service interval as well, lol. My only problem was the the pump quite slow, not sure what I did wrong?
13:17 The biggest problem with that is when the tube breaks in half inside the dip stick hole. There is no way for you to get that thing out. Good luck
Had it happen you can get it out with hot glue and another piece of tube and moving quickly. That is if it is still in the oil dip stick tube and not floated down into the pan

Thank you for this video. I’m now excited to attempt to do this which is empowering.
Hey
JohnCanFixAnything, thanks for choosing EWK oil extractor and making this awesome instruction. Keep posting more! :)

Sounds great!
I got mine because of you. With my compressor is such a time saver. And, I got every drop of oil.
I really like using the vacuum system instead of getting under the car. I ended up getting a larger compressor and it makes the job even faster now.

I’m sticking with this from now on. So much easier and there was very little oil left in the pan.
@@JohnCanFixAnything Great, thanks!
My video states that EWK makes a 10-liter pump. It is not a 10-liter pump it is a 15-liter.
I had to buy the extractor hoses separately. Little mad to say the least.
Mine came with the extractor. And several lengths and sizes
@@JohnCanFixAnything got mine on Amazon at 150.00. Just spent 40.00 more on the 3.5 and 4mm extractors. What size works best for you.
The 3.5 for the Mercedes and 4mm for my Chevy truck.
Any problems with the blue tube extensions coming off?
No problems at all for me. I use it for all my vehicles now.
How do you like the 3.5 v6 I’m thinking about buying a 2012 e350 just wanna hear peoples opinion of the 3.5 v6

John, can I drain the oil the same time change the filter?
I don’t see why not. The filter is on top so it should be fine. I will try it next oil change.

There's not piece short enough to get caught inside the dip stick hole. All three are longer than that by themselves.
🙄

The only way I'll go under a car to undo the oil drain bolt is when I get a lift.
