I loved how they did the open-level style. Not overtly big. Its like dialoge in a script, it must serve the purpose to the narrative, and i think each level does that really well.
I played it back in 2019 with only 10 fps on my old pc...but as I'm playing it right now again on my new pc i feel this game was way better than I thought...every thing in this game makes me crazy! First time on my new pc i played it 15 hours in one day and after that I don't even felt tired...I explored every possible location in the first map without killing any humans even bandits...except that cannibals who told lies to people for bringing them in for eating them in that bunker...now I'm in caspian map for my new exploration
This game literally introduced me to first person games, before Metro Exodus I straight up refused to play first person games, but this game was so great that even I couldn't resist playing, and God what an amazing discover it was. Also thanks to it I discovered many other incredible first person games, like the Bioshock series. This game will always have a special place in my heart. If you manage to get it on sale it's an absolute steal, I believe it's worth way more than its full price. Also I suggest playing it in the original russian localization, the immersion and acting is incredible. And last but not least this game also has the best and most badass waifu of all time. Now stop wasting time reading this comment and GO PLAY METRO EXODUS.
For me personally aside from my leapfrog when I was really young my first real single player game I played was COD 3. I think that made me fall in love with FPS games from a young age. The first scene in the game where your getting in the URAL and the private is trying to catch up to it, then the mortar hits the ground in between the truck and the soldier, causing it to flip over and roll... man that gave me chills. Felt like I was actually in the shits lol.
0:45 it's really the best, not a second spent in this game was meaningless, every thing you do, every step you make and everything you find has a meaning, the world is so rich, the characters are very likeable and Artyom is basically the guy we'd all dream to be lol, and the story is just perfect.
There was a Steam sale that sells the whole Metro series bundle for $7. Watched this video and proceeded to purchase it. 10 hours in by now. I like the weapon mechanics but thou I wish you could carry many weapons but the point of the game is not making you feel like you're a superhero, you're just a guy. the first 6 hours is literally just tutorial for me. Its a slow burning game. This is specifically for those who love stealth game with a bit of a bang. Only go boom boom when needed.
ive kinda been a fan of the series since last light was first released. i went to download it on my 360 and saw there was 2033 and decided to go through that before going through last light. i actually loved them enough to read the books. is it worth it? i guess it depends on the person. i loved it. but i also heard a lot of complaints from people who werent really into it as much as i was. like i saw posts talking about "where do the dark ones come in to this?" or "a metro game that doesnt take place in a metro" which id argue.... if they stuck with what was written in 2035 we would be getting basically the same thing we already experienced. instead we got this which still took inspirations from the book even though other than the introduction... there really is not much of a similarity and i liked that.
I own Exodus on Xbox One and 100% completed the game almost a dozen times. First few was to have fun and experience everything, unfortunately the last couple were from a bug that deleted my save data when attempting to start New Game +. Asides from that error, the only major complaint I have is the noticeable lack of weapon variety. Weapon customization is incredible, but being able to customize a revolver dozens of different ways doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a revolver. The two expansions introduce new weapons, a Flamethrower, handgun, and assault rifle, but they’re locked to only be used in their respective expansions. Had they been usable in the base game, it would have been a massive improvement for Artyom’s armory selection.
Great review as usual ! Your talent of putting your opinion into concise words is amazing. That is high quality work, really ! I find the abrupt gamepad movements quite painful to watch. I’m around 3/4 of the way through this game, and it really is something special. Some of the best gunplay mechanics and actually useful crafting that fits fully into the game that I’ve ever come across. Decent AI that isn’t totally stupid, and nobody is a bullet sponge besides one or two bosses. My only criticism so far is indeed the silent protagonist: it’s lazy, clearly Artyom should be voiced and countless times we’re talked to and there’s radio silence back and they respond as if we have said something. It’s an outdated concept that needs to go, or make silence an option for those that love it.
I've been playing Metro exodus for a year now, both in normal and hard mode. It made me play Redux as well and even though these games are pre PS5, they look amazing and they do not dissapoint. Worth every peny!

It has some pretty annoying mechanics like charging weapons and batteries which both discharge way too quickly and not being able to skip the looooooong cutscenes is a pita when you replay and just want to play not sit through incredibly cringy dialogues (especially with Anna in English version). Ps. Why anybody needs hit markers? This game is best enjoyed with zero hud items and screen prompts.
