I guess it depends on how you define underrated. It was very well received by gaming publications and players alike, it sold pretty well and it sits on a very positive rating on Steam, based on more than 93.000 reviews.
Underrated as in you rarely heard about it in medias. I preordered this back then, but even after a month since release I barely see any videos covering this game
@@Azukaae, the game has been a benchmark for graphics and Raytracing for years. Everyone was talking about it and there were plenty of trailers showcasing the game before release.
The dirt mechanic on guns is most noticeable on assault rifles because it heavily slows the rate of fire the dirtier your gun is, but other than that, its pretty unnoticeable on other guns
The 'Two Colonels' DLC really moved me to tears at the end. The way it portrays the place that Miller explored is incredible, providing a deep understanding of what happened there. The story is perfectly told through the perspectives of the two colonels, each offering a unique version of events.
I watched and saw a few sad/happy movie and game scenes but I didn’t experience excitement or sadness because I was an acoustic shut in who didn’t have friends to communicate with and use emotions. But this game made me cry. Rest in peace Colonel Miller, you will be missed 🫡
3:33 In Metro: Last Light, it's revealed that other Dark Ones that were in hibernation were hidden away in D6, the Little One woke them up and brought them to help Artyom in the final battle against the Reds. The final scene is them going their separate ways on the Surface.
As far as I remember Metro Exodus is not based on any of the Metro books, it's inspired but they made the game mostly on their own (or with consultations with Metro author, don't remember) and thats why there are dlcs (probably) cause they could add something to their story. I actually finally got to play this great game and its DLCs this month as well. Its a very interesting take on the single player shooter genre, and of course the setting is un-matched.
I have the Metro trilogy on Xbox, Exodus is such a great game, I just wish the dlc weapons were useable in the base game to help with the rather thin variety in addition to having a museum mode like Last Light had.
I haven't watched your videos on a while, so I'll watch this. Man I don't know how long i've subscribed to this channel because it's probably too long.
This game is a game that I truly love without anything else to add and it's sad to know that it's no longer being taken care of properly by the developer. The last I know of an update for this game was 3 or 2 years ago and I still play it even though it is no longer updated regularly.
I must admit I never played it, despite having loved the first two games, because Exodus reminded me too much of the Steam vs Epic debate and Epic's sus marketing strategies. Now that thing's far behind us and I think I'll give it a shot: it's neither too short nor too long, super well made and very fun :)
I remember my first time playing metro exodus I had a weak pc at the time Only being able to play metro exodus at less than 35fps low settings. Gunfights turned it to 20-fps. Didn't stop me from playing the game at all due to how beautiful it is. Now, i have an rtx 3070 and i replay this game once every 6 months when the craving comes back. Really good game.
9:15 The books and games diverge greatly. The first game and book are fairly close, though there some differences. Anything after that may aswell be separate story arcs. Also, as a rule of thumb the books are way more depressing than games.
I'd say the game did rather well considering that this series could be considered a bit niche. It could ave done better, but it did well enough in my opinion
3:30 Lol, in original russian versions of the games and books they are called just "blacks" if you translate literally and I was always curious how they translate it for english people. Yeah, "dark ones" sounds like not a bad choice
True story : I have metro 2033 and metro the last light when epic Games makes it free for 7 days. But when i see metro Exodus, and yes it was quiet underrated but i think it's really good though.
Underrated? No. Its just not mainstream. Im really, really tired of seeing people call a game that is absolutely beloved and adored by its playerbase/fans be called "Underrated" Not being mainstream is not the same thing as being underrated. How can you call it underrated if most people dont even know it exists to call it bad or good in the first place? and those who do know it exists shower it in praise and adoration. Im just tired of seeing people not know how to use words. Although, Exodus did break 10 million copies sold, and thats not small numbers, so metro is slowly but surely becoming more and more known.
I wish some of the bugs were patched out. Its not fun to be in ranger hardcore and be softlocked because you have 15 minutes of filters and the game doesnt want to let you use them (pressing T to no avail and having the gas mask worn)
Every console generation has a franchise that defines it. We had Mass Effect, God of War, Halo...and Metro was the franchise of the last gen, but nobody played it. Which is a shame because the Metro series (Exodus especially) is the finest slavjank you can get. It's slavgold. And the RTX update looks gorgeous and it runs great! I hope the 4A folks are doing good in Malta and now free from Embracer. They had to move out of their Kyiv home during Maidan, and I can imagine they are watching ongoing developments pensively. Also: Exodus, which is based on the Metro books, is in fact its own story. They moved away from the books starting with Last Light.
Hey Lamwarp, idk if you've played Prey (2017) yet but you should its an amazing game, one of my favourites. The same studio that made Prey also made the Dishonored series.
can we stop calling well-received and financially successful games "underrated"? it doesn't make any sense. Metro Exodus in particular is considered to be the peak of the franchise, it is by no means underrated. F.E.A.R. 2, Dark Souls 2, both Lords of the Fallen games - now that's where using the word "underrated" would be appropriate.
Actually, the games storyline is very different from the one in the books. The thing is that the writer of the books is a writer on the games, so technicaly, they are both cannon.
