excellent video, as usual. thanks Joe for helping us all learn a bunch of useful and time-saving (and interesting) stuff. look forward to your next videos!
About MediaInfo you mentioned: There's a "better" version called MediaInfo Lite which may sound like the lesser version but it has actually a much cleaner and simpler interface, it allows you to export all the media info into a text file as well.
Big thanks for the work you are doing ,, its helping me to understand and learn things I wasnt sure about ..... All the best for 2019 and keep up the good work ;) Greets from Europe !!
Thanks Thio you rock young man. (If i have a problem with my computer i check with you first. You've saved me 3 times this month, so thank you for the video's)
This guy creates these meticulously crafted videos that tell us "Hacks" but they don't actually work. And he tricks us into watching by explaining the mostly true science.
Awesome video. From this list, I love the programs I already use, so I have a good feeling about the ones I'm going to try. especially Flux. I didn't know that was a thing until now. The other day I tried Windows Night Light but I thought it just messed up the colors, so I switched it off.
Had to get Recuva after the Win10 upgrade stole all my desktop files. Piriform is a pretty good developer, but it made me so sad to find so many of my beloved files drowning in a sea of technicolour and text code overwrite. But I did find them, even only so I could finally put them out of their overwritten misery. Thanks for the list here, Joe :)
Recuva saved my life once, my pen drive broke and it wasn’t registering, then I formatted it and used recuva to recover the files, on that pen drive was also a really important project I had to present, but I had like 10 backups of that anyways
DaVinci Resolve is definitely a great video editor, but it doesn't support MP3 audio which is a big put off. You have to convert the audio to something else like OGG.
I've been using mp3tag for years, it is awesome. Some downloaded albums don't have track names or artists or even album artwork, with this I can input them all so when I play some music all the info is displayed on screen and even on ipod
This is a very good list. With one exception. MP3Tag. It does the job, yes, but it offers nothing that MusicBee doesn't (which is more than just a music player). You really should check it out...
I cant wait to put these on my fixed very old desktop. Intel core 2 duo, nvidia gt 640. It looks like it will be better than my current laptop. I have another gaming desktop with a gtx 970 intel core i7-4980k but broken graphics card and dont have money.
Great video Joe. I would however really appreciate if you could do a video on how to recover a internal HDD data connecting it to the computer, what software to use etc. Especially if there is a software which can do it while it's in boot mode.
Another good editor with a "free" version is Lightworks. Only real limits of the free version are needing to renew the trial licence file monthly (easy done) and the 720p export limit.
Thank you for the heads up on the MPC player. I have been using VLC player for years, and this player has much better video quality. Side by side comparison was night and day.
This video was great! Make a video in which an extension does not affect the browser because some programs when needed to be downloaded for free need extentions and the extensions tend to change the apperence of the browser
I love Explorer++. I download the invoices for all of my monthly bills and my bank statements. When you do that, you normally have to browse to find the proper folder where you want to save the file. Explorer++ displays the full path to the folders at the top, so you can copy the path and when the site asks you where you want to save the file, you simply paste the path in front of the file name for your download and it saves the file into the correct folder. It has lots of other features as well.
Don't forget about Firefox web browser. It really became a great competitor to Chrome. Better yet, try out the nightly version and you will notice a completely different experience than what you probably were used to.
It does feel awkward to see your videos real and are not a joke. Probably the first time I see some of these kinds from you LOL. This Video however is very helpful, and I have found the right app for me. Thank you
Windows 10 Version 1703: right click on desktop and go to Display and under Color you will see "Night Light" that you can set a time you change your screen color and it will change back after a time.. So I set mine from 9pm to 6am and it lowers how bright the screen is or what color.. No program needed as you named in this video as this is a option now in windows 10.
I've got a great new way of stopping people making bullshit waste of time videos. It's amazing. You bury your foot so far up their ass they're never tempted to do so again. And this one really works unlike others i've seen on here.
You need Windows Creator to run Davinci Resolve. I ran it without it and it changed my Registry Keys, erased my System Restore points and hid my Nvidia Control Panel. Thanks, Thio Joe!
My favorite free software is hands down 4K Video Downloader. It lets you download youtube video and/or audio such as mp3. It gives you options as what quality to download (up to 4K) which is pretty cool feature. Plus i just love the way that app looks and feels.
The problem with LibreOffice is that much of the code is still written in JAVA by programmers who don't have a lot of experience. Often components don't work as they should especially in the database. The Open Document Foundation needs to be more aggressive with the removal of JAVA components from this software truly separating it from its parent openOffice.
ThioJoe, you should check out alacritypc too! It's a tool where you create profiles that when they are launched, they close specific services and programs that you yourself told it to shut down. You can also defrag memory as well, as many times you want(this is not a sponsor, its just a really cool program to share)
Joe, can you tell me the software or hardware we need for streaming from Android phone? Thank you so much if you answer my question. Great video by the way. GOOD JOB you got 1 subs
flux is built into Win10 now isn't it, Night Light or whatever. I don't know if its any good because I don't use software that does that and I'm never planning too. I don't have any issues with sleeping after using a screen or falling asleep while looking at a screen.

Sorry for the errors, ment. In learning how to use my computer.
@ThioJoe , I downloaded FLUX after you mentioned it in one of your previous videos. It's been a Godsend. Sleep pattern is much better now.
I like that program "Shut down" . It saved me money on the power bill.
Some great programs in there! Could not imagine What i would do without some of those...
am gonna test Rainmeter and LastPass
thanks :)

very useful video, thank you for making it
why notepad++ isn't featured
So glad Discord is on this list
for MP3s I use the excellent free soft "MusicBrainz Picard" auto-recognizes & tag a whole folder at once!
wow all of those programs seem really handy, i might use one of them, i do use discord though and i love it it's really fun to use.
