3:58 Metallica ... and Dokken!? The opening riff is vaguely reminiscent of Unchain the Night... I'm Canadian so I doubly appreciate this lesson: thanks!
I saw Mike Reno on Axis TV (RUclips channel) being interviewed by that curly-haired sweetie. I saw Loverboy at Miami University (of Ohio) back in the 80s. Another great video by you. I can't play guitar for crap, but love your videos. ( did try to play Van Halen's "Unchained" on my acoustic after seeing your video! I never thought I could play a VH song! Thank you for that! Do you like Loverboy's "Only the Lucky Ones"? I love that song and all the guitar parts. I forget the Canadian guitar player's name, but loved his style. (Paul something. Dean?). You're one of my favorite YT channels ... right up there with Foresty Forest -- he's a mountain hiker and not a guitar player, but what you both have in common is personality.
Marty finally got that technique down of muting the strings with my right palm and being able to control the strings like that, I finally got it. I'm finally there yay😎 what a world of difference when you can control the strings like that and make all kinds of cool licks
Caught Loverboy opening up for Sammy last week. My drummer is friedns with thiers, and we hung out backstage before and after thier set. They were super tight, and great guys. Paul is a powerhouse
Thanks Marty! We have these 80s nostalgia radio stations here along the coast but from some reason they never play Loverboy. They were huge for a minute, doesn't make sense. Jesse's Girl and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun over and over.
I was having a good look at the exact same schecter, same colour and all a couple of days ago. Its a beautiful guitar, sounds awesome as well. My other half would slap me if I bought another guitar 😂. Another cool lesson 👍
I'm happily shocked Marty!!!!! Being in Edmonton this was a teenage staple when I was a teen.Canada has some good classic rock from the 80's.Streetheart,Harlequin,Fist,Loverboy,Queen City Kids had some great songs, tnx for the reminder.
Cool lesson here Marty! Thanks man, just in time for the weekend too. I can't get over that guitar, that thing is tough looking and the color really pops man.

Enjoyed it Marty. 👍🏻 You should introduce your audience sometime. I noticed that your pets are around in some of your videos, they must dig the music 😅 They just want to be with their people..no matter what they have to endure to do so. 😎 Seems like I saw something that made me think you are in Tennessee. I do a lot of motorcycle riding in eastern TN with some buds from around the Knoxville area. Some great twisty roads there and in western North Carolina and North Georgia. Been learning a lot, thank you.
Yeh my pets can't stand not bring near me. My oldest German shepherd has major separation anxiety! Yep TN! Lots of great countryside here! Awful drivers and traffic 😂
Also I just discovered Lexi Rose, oh my goodness. is she beautiful so gorgeous and she's a natural guitar goddess. oh my goodness can she play go check her out. Now that's Entertainment she also works with GMM guitar Mastery method and you can see why. She also said she's only been playing for two years, that's what happens when you're young it's easier when you're young it certainly is. it was so easy for me to learn things on guitar when I was a kid and I didn't get serious with it till I was 59 and now I'm 63 and I'm just getting The Knack. you know what I mean when you finally feel like you're playing guitar,
Lol yeh the early 80'stuff in general was a bit weak for videos. I don't think the bands fully grasped the needs for an awesome timeless video. For example Journey and the separate ways video. 😂
This is the way you play it if you’re substituting for no keyboards. This is not the correct way that Paul Dean played it as he just played A straight B bar chord.
That's just like you, Marty. You come up with some of the coolest stuff to teach us how to play. That's why I love this channel. That's what I'm talking about. I used to like some lover boy stuff. Still do how about White Wedding Billy Idol? .
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker you as well have a happy and blessed weekend by the way how is scooter doing you need to get him back on and do some more science experiments lol
@Ranch5150SkinWalker awesome...not to many loverboy lessons out there for sure. Thanks for the lessons. Great channel, I see your channel has grown alot over the past year.
“TURN ME LOOSE” pleeeease!!! 🙏🎸
Yea buddy you nailed it! And turn me loose would be a another great one!
Turn me loose is another fun one one
Yeh totally! There's some really mean sounding chords in there!
I saw Loverboy open for Journey in 1981, that was a kick ass show. Mike Reno really got the crowd going.
Ya I saw the same show at Buffalo memorial auditorium. Excellent show.
@@rrdee8138 I saw them in Columbia SC. Good times indeed!

Jam of a song....anytime it is used in a movie or comes on the radio it puts a smile on your face!
I agree! Thanks man! 😎🤟🏻🎵🎵🎵
Geez I remember watching this video on MTV back in the early 80,s was about 18 ah the memories that guitar gave it a bit of a metal punch 🤘
Lover boy was good girl pick up music! 😆 Thanks Marty!
Yeh man!!
Thanks for sharing
You're very welcome!! Thanks for watching!
Haha, it was driving me crazy, I knew that riff was reminding me of something.........Carry on Wayward Son! Another good one!

No way! I just woke up singing this song in my head and here it is 😂
How about that for convenience!? 😎🤟🏻
They say that ideas (music) is put out to the universe for whosoever grabs it first. I'd like to believe that.
Nwice! Paul Dean is the man!!! just watched a video he has up how to play it
Cool! I need to check that out
Great lesson as always. Big Loverboy fan. Saw them last year and they still put on an excellent show. Paul Dean still rocks. Thanks for sharing!
So much fun to watch you having so much fun...inspiring for us wanna bees. Time to turn on the Marshall and make some noise.
I appreciate you watching! Thanks for the comment and enjoy your weekend!!!
Happy Saturday, and a nice selection!
Thanks man! Have a great weekend 😎🎵
When you were playing the first riff at the beginning, I kept hearing "Unchain the Night" by Dokken.
Good stuff as always man!
love that schecter!

Killer tone, what did you run that through?
Thanks dude! Just my fractal ax8 in stereo. I run stereo delay and verb in pro tools. I added a touch of multi chorus.
❤❤❤❤❤Thank you Marty, you make us so happy again, you are the best coach ever!!! Greetings from Germany
You're so welcome!❤
Love this tune Marty, we used to play this tune back in the Early 80s 😊

Sounds like Unchain the Night by Dokken, when you slow it down.
Excellent tutorial. Thanks for NOT leaving out the pro tip details.
First time I've heard was in GTA Vice City ... and omg that game introduced me to so much good music! #Loverboy
2nd time I've seen this in my Loverboy youtube wormhole today. Cool that the game introduced younger people to a great era of music.
That guitar is outrageous! I love it! I want one! What is it? Some kind of Explorer/Destroyer type body.....But who is it made by?
Thanks!! Schecter Diamond E series. With a sustaniac 😎🤟🏻
Sounds kinda like some George Lynch tone!
Maybe the Schecter pickups? 😎🤟🏻
I have a Schecter sun valley shredder with the sustainer in it also but I think you just have that tone in your hands. @@Ranch5150SkinWalker

The riff after the G chord in the chorus is a little off but otherwise 👍🏽
The way "music" has been the last 15-20 years I fear guys like this are going to disappear and guitar players will be extinct in 30 years.
Lover boy ? Good song I guess butt the presentation on they videos was a little too whimpy
