    Solos I thought were IMPOSSIBLE are now possible with Ben. I’m not sure if everyone else gets your style teaching as well as I do but damn it really is my speed. Ty I think my speed is probably a lame cousin who has an older brother.

  •  5 месяцев назад +8

    Awesome job. Though there's still a few tiny things that are a bit different in the original. At the start of the last run, it's not E on 12th fret, but F on 13th. And around the end of the run on 2nd string, E is picked 2 times. I dissected & learned this solo a long time ago, and it wasn't easy to hear all the notes properly.

    • @peterk.rosenthal1417
      @peterk.rosenthal1417 5 месяцев назад

      My good sir, if you have an F on the 13th instead of an E on the 12 then you need to intonate your guitar.

    •  5 месяцев назад +2

      @@peterk.rosenthal1417 What? Everybody has F note on 13th fret & E on 12th fret of their 6th string, if the guitar is in standard tuning. I'm just saying that instead of playing the 12th fret E note, 13th fret F is played on the 6th string during the fast run part of the original solo.

    The internet is amazing. Just listening to that song on the radio and thought to myself, "What in the hell DOES he do at the end there?" - did a quick RUclips search and there you are. I'll never be able to play it but it's awesome to see that a human with incredible talent can play it :) Thanks man.

    Thanks for the breakdown, perfect balance between professional and fun :) You know listening to the original at 0.25x, it seems to me that more of the notes after the initial "pause" are also a bit atemporal. I wonder if it's not just an artefact of the guitarist simply playing the run as fast as he could with target notes at the end and this is what his fingers came up with. The note movements are almost impossible to hear at 0.5x and certainly not at 1x.

    Excellent lesson as always Uncle Ben! Any chance we could get an Alex Lifeson lesson? Personally I struggle with wrapping my head around the legato, bending, and pinch harmonics in the Under the Shadow section of The Necromancer; there are no real good covers or lessons anywhere for me to look at to get a better feel for what Alex is doing. Please help, the first solo in that section is one of the most incredible things I've ever heard and it's easily his best solo in my opinion. A look at the solos in the Presentation or Soliloquy sections of 2112 would also be much appreciated. Or even a lesson on La Villa Strangiato if you're up for it. Many thanks my dude
