These guys did a superb job of doing that, and having musicians remembering them 30 yrs later, is a testament to that fact. Thanks for the great music Mr. Hill. You're a world class musician.👍

It's one of those solos that if you played it without any accompanying music, everybody would know exactly what i was. Really great video. Thank you.
Not only is that solo well written and excellently played, I think a part of the magic is the tone. It sings and it sounds like its on the verge of chaos the whole time. Just shy of feedback, its AMAZING!

That was when it first came out, and I'm 53 now. I miss you Sasha
One of the greatest melodic solos in the history of rock and roll brother, thank you for that! Great to see a tutorial straight from the source, and thank you for that as well!
One of the best rock solos ever, not just the 80s. I actually met you and another band member in a small rock dive called, "The Living Room" in Providence Rhode Island in the 80s. I made a joke about how surprised I was that you guys weren't short like all the big name musicians I had met at the time. I then made a hand shake gesture like I was shaking hands with a midget and said, "It's a great honor to meet you, Mr. Dio." And you guys laughed.
Scotti Hill you were the sound of my best years! God bless you! Really you did write a masterpiece solo here.. simple but not so simple.. and melodic and powerful! To me it is THE solo of the 80s and 90s.
I remember seeing the overhand move on MTV when I was a kid, thinking it was so badass! That is STILL the most badass looking way to mute, and I still love that solo! It’s just one of those moments that I remember made me want to play a guitar: The Back to the Future Johnny B Goode scene; Eric Clapton sounding incredible while making it look easy; and the Skid Row overhand move in the video! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

I remember learning this solo out of guitar for the practicing musician back in the early 90's way before RUclips. I use to love sitting on my bed with my Kramer, also with a floyd rose tremelo, and a new guitar tab magazine learning new songs. God I miss those days.
Time to get out the HM Strat and head to the woodshed! Thank you very much, Mr. Hill, for sharing this with us. You have been asked about the solo for years because this is the greatest metal-ballad solo ever played. As a young player growing up I hung out with guys listening to King Diamond and Forbidden and such. When we heard this solo we were blown away. Rest assured that while you may have shown us the notes, nobody could ever play it like you. Best wishes from the Bay Area. MK

@@3joewj Yes, because you know more about Scotti's Tone than the man that actually WROTE the solo LOL
One of the greatest melodic solos in the history of rock and roll brother, thank you for that! Great to see a tutorial straight from the source, and thank you for that as well!
Such a great solo and that tone-KILLER!
The reason why people are still asking about this solo is because deep down they know it’s one of the best, if not the best solo ever.
It s the best solo ever!
Dear Scotti,
it is always something very special to learn directly from the master!
With loving greetings from Germany
Matthias
if i could "request" another solo lesson that would be the Wasted Time solo. I believe its one of your best!!(??)
Hell Yea!!!
absolutely!!!
Definitely!
That's a great one 👍
This is a must!!!!!
I love Scotty Hill...he was so encouraging to my young son when he was learning guitar...thank you Scotty
“SCOTTI HILL MAN” -Sebastian Bach, 1991
saw skid row 1991 at nassau coliseum...then wasted 3 hrs waiting for guns n roses to show up late..those were the days
I Graduated in 88 scotti , I remember driving in my 69 camaro with my girl that song went through my soul and that's the year i bought my Gibson Les Paul , thank you for sharing this solo .
Criador de lindos solos românticos. 😍🇧🇷🤘
One of the best solo's ever written. Thanks Scotti Hill!
I remember learning this solo out of guitar for the practicing musician back in the early 90's way before RUclips. I use to love sitting on my bed with my Kramer, also with a floyd rose tremelo, and a new guitar tab magazine learning new songs. God I miss those days.
you and me both.
thisaint myname I remember GFTPM! Spent many an hour sitting in front of those transcriptions....
Me too!!
Great magazine, whatever happened to it. First one I got was back in 91 I think. Had Kirk Hammett on cover and Shortest Straw tabbed
Same
Time to get out the HM Strat and head to the woodshed!
MK
Did anyone else go immediately after and watch the video of the solo being played in real time, and enjoy it yet again? 🤣
Yeah, sure did. Lol
I will be
Just did. Love that song.
@@Matthew-gn5yi, especially coming from the guy who originally played it. So, you know it's true chords. Not to mention, it sounds so good.
@@Mark-um5hc Yea. I was like it's not THE Scotti Hill & then I watched the video & was like HOLY SH&* it is him & he can still play just like he did back in Skid Row's heyday. Would love to see something from Rachel Bolan & Dave "Snake" Sabo.
Scotti was my favorite between the two guitarists. He always had great, fat tone and his choice of notes was always beautiful. This is definitely one of his best. Great solo.
I remember playing along to the song and I nailed that squeal at the 40 second mark exactly like it is on the record. I was so stoked. I didn't get any other parts of the solo right, but I got that harmonic squeal. lol
lol
We enjoyed it! I m 45 now, my son who is 14 years now pick up guitar too because of you n dave! Stay healthy!
How about doing a video on your version of little wing. You killed it on that song. That is the song and your version that made me save up for. Guitar.
That solo is part of my life too. I has something that touches deep inside. Brings back memories of joy, places and persons that are gone. I was 13 when it came out. Thank you.
Hey man I use to build guitars with Lumpy, he always talked about his days touring and working with you guys.
This solo is iconic...you are criminally underrated..one of the best guitar players ever, hands down 🔥🔥🔥💪🔥🔥🔥
Os solos mais românticos do hard rock. 🇧🇷🤘🇧🇷🤘
Great solo Scotti - awesome!! I listen to the live version (Wembley) all the time 👍
I wish he'd do a video talking about that blue guitar.
I went on some trip in high school and listened to this solo about 35 times in row on my walkman. It's so good as is the whole song. I never imagined 30 whatever years ago i would someday see something like this. Thanks for the song and video!
When someone disagrees with you about tone being in the fingers, show them the Yamaha at the end
Is it a bad amp?
Much love. Saw you in Green Bay Wisconsin in 1991. Thank you so much for the tutorial. I have been practicing this on guitar for the past couple weeks. Your music is the soundtrack to my high school years. God Bless you Scott and thank you for creating music that enriched my life!!! Funny how the 80s-90s musicians were gods but were actually totally humble human beings. Thank you!!!!!!!
The guitar nerd in me desperately needs to know the history of this guitar
Yeah...the tape over the Jackson logo really has me curious too. I'm guessing a contract/sponsorship from another guitar company made this necessary.
Awesome. I was getting this solo wrong years ago and then gave up on it. Now I can re-learn it from the man himself. Love it. Thanks scotti.
The reasons people are still asking about the solo is because it's a awesome song and solo but more importantly people are Finally realizing that today's music SUCKS with every band and guitarist playing in some drop C tuning and just how good Skid Row is.
Getting the details of this solo, means everything to me. Coming from Scottie himself. This is the best solo, ever.
This song is soo special to me...and this SOLO is on my top 3 list from the late 80's...thanks Scott...for making beautiful evergreen Music...you're among the guitar gods from the 80's...
'Evergreen' is a great word here. Well done 💚
Thank you Scotti, for 30 years of pure delight every time I listen to this solo of yours. A beautiful, power and emotional melody that will last forever. And thank you very much to spend the time to teach us how to play it, when I got it, it was simply magical hear it from my own fingers. God bless you man.
I had the pleasure of meeting Scott in Brighton during a really tough time personally. Absolute gentleman, so much respect for this guy
Great solo Scotti! One of my all time favorites!
The soubd of this guitar and Bach's vouce. Perfection. It's one of the all-time great songs of my youth.
This is hands-down, the best solo ever recorded and created for a hard rock song ever! I have listened to so much music since 1977 when I was three till now and this is hands-down, the fucking one that rules over all. Period. Thank you for this song. 🤙🏽🙌🏽❤️
This solo is the best solo ever made! Since the first time i saw it on tv ..i was just a teenager learning the guitar. This was my kickass favorite solo of all time to this day! Thanks god you created this masterpiece !
Thanks Scotti, I'm one them who still remembers this solo 30 years later! I remember my brother and I loved this song...had it on a VHS of fav clips back in the day...such a great clip of you guys in that warehouse jamming! Let us return thanks to the Lord Jesus for the gifts he's given: melody, guitars, distortion and so much more! He's that Rock that can make us roll in the heavenly direction... Romans 5:8 :)
A great band that produced a great debut record with great songs & excellent musicianship. Thanks so much, Scotti for taking the time to demonstrate this AND for showing your amp settings! I always loved the blue Gibson double cut Les Paul you play in the vid too.
Thanks for doing this. One of the classic guitar solos of all time. Getting a personal lesson is off the charts cool. Seeing how to do it. If only I had the tone in my fingers. And oh, the classic guitar, the legend. VERY cool. Thanks again for taking the time to do this for us. Pretty special.
