- Extraordinary video shows two Virginia men narrowly escape death as a tall tree crashed down in the backyard. Chad Day and Chris Johanssen were relaxing by a backyard fire pit when a tree came crashing down out of nowhere. They say their wives and kids were inside when the tree crashed to earth. Everyone was just about to come out to enjoy some smores by the fire pit. Inside Edition’s Steven Fabian has more.

On January 9th, 2024, it was very windy and rainy all day and night. In the nighttime, the huge evergreen tree in my backyard uprooted. It was a Norway spruce tree that was dripping with pine cones. The trunk landed on the metal fence, causing a dent. The treetop landed on top of my garage and the neighbors' garage. I was watching a video about late talkers and my brothers were in their rooms watching TV. When I heard a loud bang outside, I just thought that it was the wind. Then, we all went outside. The neighbors were also out there. I told everyone about the uprooted evergreen tree. My family on Daddy's side said that the tree was already a big tree when they were babies and little kids. When my uncle showed Daddy pictures of the tree, Daddy just said, "Wow, wow."

A huge old oak tree in my town just fell like this the other week at random not during a storm or anything and that's when it's most unnerving because you definitely aren't expecting it.
Well it's a good thing the fireplace didn't get destroyed cause it would've caught the tree on fire.

A tree fell on my house while my mother and I were in the kitchen. It was a quiet calm still beautiful summer day. No wind. No rain.
Luckily it didn't smash through the roof far enough to injure us but it really scared me because there was no obvious reason why this huge healthy tree fell.

That time a tree fell in a neighborhood and it made a sound.. I remember one time cutting a tree down by axe and I heard the tree creaking but I was looking off in another direction when suddenly I felt a shove or possibly a reflex as the tree came within inches of the back of my head and just barely scratching my back.. But this.. I wouldn't react so fast.. I'd be in panic mode

The is is why we inspect utility poles for light companies. We check for wood decay and termites. Poles not checked usually end up on peoples property, cars, and horses apparently.
