- In this video we show you framing our campervan walls with battens and talk a little about why we want to escape the rat race and how adventure is a big part of that.
About Us
Welcome to Life Adventure Projects, we’re Andy and Sophie and last year we made the decision to work on changing our lives for the better. We’d grown tired and weary of the rat race, only living for the weekend or looking forward to a holiday once a year, so we made a plan to start working on projects to improve our lives.

I run my own construction business, so a 6 day week is a short one! My Crafter is about 8 months in so far, even with build experience it takes time. For some reassurance, if you took the van to a professional converters for a £35K+ job, that would be 400 to 500 ‘man hours’.
The reward at the end is worth the time. I had a transporter prior to the crafter, and once finished was worth every second & penny that went into it.
Hey man, thanks for the insight. We are not going to rush it, if it gets to much / risky on parts we will seek professional help.
What a lovely couple you are, really like watching your journey into converting your DHL Van 'Ray' :-)
Hey Sanj, that’s really sweet, thank you so much. Hope you enjoy the journey, we really appreciate the support 🙂👍🏻
Have you seen campervibe's channel? ...That channel is AWESOME for the build and the subsequent lifestyle adventures.
Hey Pete! Yes we love their channel! They’ve been good for picking up tips, but also loving their travel vlogs! 👍🏻😊
check out The Rolling Rucks as they have just finished a lovely VW Crafter conversion, they will have loads of tips for you, also Gadget John, he certainly knows his stuff......you are both doing a grand job, looking forward to the next installment.......
Hey Sandy, thanks for your lovely comment and tips! We will check those two out, great to have you here for the journey! 👍🏻

Hey Stevie, thanks for your comment, we appreciate it! 6 months is great - I hope you're enjoying using it now it's done!
Wait until you realise B&Q and Screwfix are owned by the same entity! :-/
Loving these videos so far, doing great on the Van and the video :)

Hey! Oh that’s awesome! Have you bought it yet or will be this year? You’re going to have loads of fun winging it like us 😄🙌🏻 we could probably help you avoid a few mistakes so when you do feel free to give us a shout! Cheers!
Excellent job guys, I've just finished converting a renault trafic, same as you I has literally no experience so it was built the trail and error, RUclips and quite a bit of swearing but it was all worth it on the end
The swearing is compulsory I’m certain 😂 that’s awesome - congratulations!! What are your plans with your van? Thanks so much for your comment 🙌🏻👍🏻
Just remember every days a school day and you never stop learning! Even when your really old like me 🤣
Never truer words said, we are learning a lot! Probably too much because my brain is getting fried 😂 Hope you have a lovely weekend planned. 👏
Just found you guys, loving the honesty of your van build! I see from your choice in B&Q’s you live not far from me so I’m looking forward to seeing where you guys choose to van adventure in the future! Best of luck and I can’t wait to see how the van goes

Sophie love your coat lass keep up the great work both of you 😘
Hey Denise! Thanks for your comment - oh gosh it’s a really old new look number but thank you! Appreciate your support 🙂🙌🏻
Hi, I just found your channel 😊 your doing a great job 👏 I agree on how long everything takes. I also work full time and like you said weekends are pressures I've got a vw crafter xlwb and I'm on my 2nd year and only half way through the conversion but have enjoyed travelling in her in the meantime. Look forward to the next video.
Thanks Antonio! Really appreciate the comment, we are getting there, slowly but surely. Quite the learning curve! 👏
Shiney new to your channel. Loved your content so far and feel your pain in learning how to build a camper. Mine is a Citroen Relay and I'm almost finished. Its taken a year so far, working 60+ hours through the week, then full days at the weekend. Draining but most definitely worth it when you're done.
I'm no expert, but I'm happy to help with advice when I can.
It can be a long slog can’t it, think we’ll be around a year by the time it’s finished. Glad to hear it’s worth it though! Yeah for sure we will be in touch for tips, always better to pick up from someone who’s been there! Thanks for taking the time to comment, really appreciate it 🙂
Keep up your great work guys, it is a big big learning curve I do hate it when you see videos that work all the time wake up to the real world we all make mistakes Ps if you want free wood we go to ikea for the cupboard in the bargain corner wow saved lot's for our Luton van
Thank you! Yeah for sure, we're complete newbies at it so there's no point covering up mistakes - it's better to learn and share! Thanks for the tip, will remember that!
Hi, dropped into your channel by chance and felt compelled to comment and would love to convert a van of our own one day - your both doing a grand job and you show that it is possible if you get your heads down despite the ups and downs of the conversion. Good to see ideas that work 🤩and those that don’t🤬. And that’s fitting it around a full time job as well, you come across as a normal everyday couple, very refreshing and look forward to more of your van adventure.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, we really appreciate it! There have definitely been a good few ideas that haven’t that’s for sure 😅 but it’s completely possible (at least to get to where we have, who knows what the next part will be like 😬). Appreciate the support Stewie!
You two are doing a great job keep up the good work 👍
Thanks Darren, really appreciate your comment and support! We’ll give it our best shot 👍🏻
B&Q and Screwfix are owned by the same company 🤣 enjoy your time together as when you have your animal sanctuary you won't have any time left to enjoy what you have. I'm starting a Transit custom conversion, RUclips is my research tool at the moment hence finding your channel.
Haha are they really?! The little swines!! I guess them large buildings must be expensive to run…
Good luck on the conversion mate, takes a lot of research and planning. You start something, realise you need to have done something else before starting that, then realise to start that you need to do something else 😂🤣
Kingfisher plc
Try liam the terrible or The Urban vanlife for back library and tips. Good luck
Love those two! Thanks Ian - always good to get recommendations, appreciate it 👍🏻🙂
It takes about 2 weeks full time (8 hours a day, 6 days a week) just to sound deaden and insulate a van.
Even when you have done it before.
People don't tell you that.
I'm planning to start a van build and I expect it to take at least 16 weeks full time.
I know what you mean, it really was a long and laborious job! Visually not a lot seems to happen for ages.
Keep up the good work, you should also check out camper vibe and urban camper for tips and tricks
Thanks so much! Appreciate you taking the time to comment - we love those channels! Honestly we couldn’t do it without other peoples vids 😄
On the name I thought because the van was bright yellow I thought it was Ray as in Ray of sunshine 🤦♂️ . A tv program 😂😂😂😂
🤣 - but it is a pretty darn good TV programme 😂
Good luck with the build, check out Scott and jen his videos are really instructional and down to earth xx
Thanks very much, we will give them a watch!
Keep up the good work guys it's coming along nicely check out Liam the terrible you can get some good tips from him
Hi Ian, thanks for your comment! Ah yeah we love Liam the Terrible he’s great! We’ve picked up a lot of tips from him 🙂 cheers 👍🏻
Just binge watched your first vlogs and can see your really starting to get the hang of having the camera on more. Probably feels a little odd filming putting a bit of wood up, after all 'who would want to see us do that ?'
I don't have a van, I live on a narrowboat, but there are a lot of parallel's between the two.
All the best with the rest of the build and your adventure.
Hi Peter 👋🏼 yes that’s exactly it, it feels strange to begin with but we’re remembering to pick it up more now and film random bits that may make it in, or may not. Interestingly we’ve been watching a lot of narrowboat vlogs recently and it looks like such a wonderful way to live - peaceful, slow, but with some adventure. Thank you very much for your comment, we appreciate it.
I'm retired and it's taken me a year - so far 😄
Hi Clifford, thanks for your comment. That sounds like a great project! Honestly going slow and steady always wins the race, we will be around a year we hope by the time he’s finished!
good luck try france in summer its great
Oh yes for sure, France will be one of the first on the list! 🙂
