      I should probably do another review after all the updates I have done. This little tin boat has actually turned out to be a great boat. It’s been really fun to work on and make upgrades to.

    I've been there with the lack of access for the front deck on my Pro 160, (similar arrangement). I was so aggravated. I thought about specially made tools,,, but then realized the the main deck was much less work then tooling. I think it had 24 screws, and a little maneuvering, it opened up access. Wouldn't want to do that often, but shouldn't to have once the work in that area was done. I had carpeting. Vinyl should be easier. (did it while in my shop for winter service).

    Good video. I upgraded the electronics, added the boat buckles, a two bank battery charger, a phone holder and an elastic rod holder to secure rods while underway. I placed the stock fish finder in the front with the transducer on the trolling motor. I am always looking for ideas to upgrade further. In the future, I am looking at upgrading my fish finder on the front and maybe upgrade to the trolling motor.

      Thanks for checking the video out. Depending on where and what type of fishing you’re doing, the trolling motor is probably the most important upgrade in my opinion.

    Great Review!! I have a 2020 195 TXW Pro Team and have similar problems and like it for the most part. My biggest complaint is the leaking storage compartments. I bought tubes of silicone this past winter and sealed the crap out of them and so far so good. The rubber gaskets had gaps where they end, almost like they were cut too short. I have the Merc 150 and it hauls ass!!

      its a good little boat -- especially for a first boat to find out what you do or don't like what does or doesn't work it is a basic boat for sure but you can upgrade a little and make it work really well for you -- if youre still looking check around for used ones, people who've done some of the upgrading already before moving up or on. I have one and it really is a good boat a lot of positives like it's reasonably priced, easy to tow and easy to store, uses very little fuel and after you upgrade the fish finders and trolling motor it's pretty good! not the best of course but a great first boat in my opinion.

    I have a 2022 model.....pretty much identical to yours. While I do love the boat......your correct on your gripes. Yes.....added a Garmin and boat buckles. Next on the list is a Terrova. When bought the boat, I picked up a spare tire, plus a side mount kit from Harbor Freight. At 75, I dont want to crawl under the boat to get the spare! Oh....I did add a Bimini top last summer. That was money well spent.

    Pretty good review - gonna look for that rub rail this boat is lower than most docks so it needs one …. N. TX also near Lewisville I’ve got the same boat same color, I like the organization in the storage compartments and agree on the locks I want to change mine out as well-- I’d love to find the locking T handle ones that fit. I agree on the vinyl -- sloppy is a good word to describe the installation. Great review!! All in all I’m pretty happy with mine - it’s a great entry level boat and for the money, uses next to no gas hits 35 on smooth water (not rough water thats a different thing entirely) but I do think its a good buy. how hard was that rub rail to get straight????

    Is that bracket by the stbd side console for a bimini? I just purchased one, and trying to find the best mounting location for the main mounting poles. Looks like your using the tracks for the fwd and aft adjusting straps, thats what Im using right now. Was trying to avoid drilling in to the gunwhale, but dont see any other way around the console. Thoughts?

    • @RFishingtx
      @RFishingtx  Год назад

      Hi Doug! Yes. I measured 30” from the front of the rod locked to the center of the bracket. Both port and starboard side panels were used as the starting point for the measurement. I have eyelet bolts installed in the versatrack for both fwd and aft straps. Let me know if this helps.

    I wanna upgrade to the Terrova as well, but I do not like that support you have I feel like it’s in the way I feel like I would trip on it and it’s one less spot you can step I find myself needing every bit of room I can get on the deck, wondering if there is another way to add support as all that force from bouncing around during transportation is sure to cause some damage, I am looking into something that perhaps attaches to the versa track

    • @RFishingtx

    Excellent, detailed review, thanks very much! I am considering either the Pro 170 or the Pro Team 175 TXW for a few $grand more. Just wondering if you considered the 175 TXW, or if due to limited storage space you had to go with the Pro 170? Also, do you feel like the extra beam and other features on the 175 TXW are worth the higher price?

    • @RFishingtx
      @RFishingtx  13 дней назад

      @kenb6102 Thanks! I do have limited space in the garage so the 175 would be a bit too tight of a fit. If I wasn’t limited on space and the choice was between the 170 and 175, I would rather spend the extra and get the 175. Even if you do the 175 with the tournament package, you’ll still want to upgrade the electronics and trolling motor at the very least.

    Good video. What size/volt Terrova is that. I just took delivery of a 2023 black 170. So far I replaced the fish finder to a helix 7, running the transducer cable was a ton of fun. I added another trolling motor battery and disconnected the link between the starting and trolling battery, that’s only after being towed back to the ramp on the maiden voyage using the trolling motor. Didn’t even use it that much and drained both batteries. Added an onboard charger to the bottom of the battery hatch lid Added some rod savers and the VesselView mobile. Oh the fuel gauge wasn’t working from the dealer, found a wire on the back of the gauge wasn’t pushed on enough. So far I like it but only have .8 hours on the motor. Also the links to the items you have posted dont work.

    • @RFishingtx
      @RFishingtx  Год назад +1

      Congrats on the new boat and thanks for checking the video out as well as the feedback. I'm new to creating these videos so appreciate the heads up that the links are not working. I'm going to work on fixing that. As far as my Terrova, its a 55/12 volt and has been just fine for me. Interesting about the cranking battery and trolling motor battery. Those 2 should be completely separate of one another. The only item that should be connected to the trolling motor batteries is the trolling motor. The fuel gauge not working has been an issue for a lot of folks on new boats so you're not alone on that one.

      @@RFishingtx yeah I guess they wire them that way from the factory so that your engine charging system will charge both batteries. It just leaves you stranded in my opinion. Lol. Humiliating being towed back in a brand new boat. I bought the rub rail you recommended, might as well put some protection on before it gets scratched. Thanks again
