- My new project, A 1995 Nitro 180 TF with a mercury 115 two stroke motor!
I purchased the boat off of Facebook Marketplace for 4K. In part one of this restoration build, lets do a walk thru of the boat and check out the motor. Can I get it running correctly, or did I just waste my hard earned money?

water pump and a lower unit service cooked a power head when I was a kid . if it has a water fuel separator change the filter if doesn't have one I would add one extra protection is worth the investment

Considering the new Ranger and Bass Trackers at BPS are running in the $70 & $80k range with trailer, I am all about purchasing pre-owned boats. Hell of a nice boat you got, especially for 4k.

I have your same boat man. Bought mine for 1400. I bought it about 3-4 months ago and have been tinkering with it as well. I had your same problem. I would give it throttle and it would do good for a second then die. I have replaced ALL fuel lines from the tank to the carbs, even the one with the squeeze ball. rebuilt my fuel pump, put in a new inline filter, cleaned the carbs, and deleted the oil injection and premix. It runs like a champ now! Id do a compression test to make sure you are getting full psi in each cylinder, but id be willing to bet its fuel delivery related!

First rule of thumb, clean carbs, change fuel lines, clarify good spark, verify good compression, you just happened to get very very lucky not to get stuck on the water
I bought this exact boat last year for 7k but mine was in a little better shape with newer batteries. 4k is a good deal. We call it the "hulk" for the green color. It has a hot foot in it. I love the color. I was willing to pay more because I knew the mechanic who maintained it for 15 years and vouched for the motor.

I bought a boat on Craig’s List. The left wheel 🛞 sheared off the axle. I jack knifed the trailer and it cost me my truck 🛻🤷♂️

I have similar boat I bought 95 FS 180 new and still have it. It is a very good engine. When you shine up the gelcoat you are going to like the flake shine. Couple of tips if you don’t mind. Run 89 octane. Says to in manual. Put gas treatment asck time to counter Ethanol
When starting cold out trim all way down. Turn key to first run spot. Push key in and out 8-10 times. This chokes the engine by dropping gas in carburetor. Once it starts raise motor. You can push key in to give it a boost of gas.

Same type of problem was happening to me on my 6 hp mercury the primer bulb wouldn’t get hard and it would bog out at high rpms so we took apart the carb to clean it and found out the float inside was cracked so it was sinking and whoever put the gasket on it last had it turned the wrong way so once we fixed that it started ripping. Great feeling once shit starts working 😂

No life jackets in a boat you don't even know smart thinking.
Absolutely correct in the idea I should have had one on. Completely wrong in the statement that there wasn’t a life jacket in the boat and that it was my first time on the water in the boat. I had four lifejackets in it, and I had the boat out several times prior trying to diagnose my engine problems. Thanks for watching and appreciate the safety reminder!
That motor is garbage. Had a 98 brand new. Thing left me and my pops stranded multiple times.
