Crabs aren't really low tier by themselves, it's more that the meta has shifted since their introduction to offset them. The entire reason why you only started to see the more interesting Gastropods start becoming viable in the mid Jurassic is because the crabs came onto the scene around then and crushed a lot of the simpler bivalve and gastropod builds into irrelevance.
You can make the same argument for any other trash build, because they also outcompeted a species that occupied the same niche before them. So no, crab = bad.
@@давидцыгановский I mean, it's still a better build than people give it credit for. There aren't a lot of better benthic scavengers (outside of some of the more niche deep ocean ones) than crab builds, after all, and there isn't a whole lot that tends to have good match ups with them outside of higher tiers.

I love the little factoid of hermit crabs finding shells that are too big for them, and rather than leave they form a line in ascending order of shell size. Once one comes along that is big enough for that shell, the next smallest will take the first's old shell, all the way down the line until the small one that got there first gets a new, perfectly sized shell.

Like most people, I also grew up playing video games, including Runescape. Your videos are just the perfect combination of education and fun. Great narration and I love the video game references and humor. Thank you!
If anyone ever gets hermit crabs just know they're a lot to take care off, they require specific humidity and temperature, 6 inches of specialized substrate, a varied diet, at least 20 gallons of space, and a good amount of unpainted shells to choose from. It's also good that they have fresh non-chlorinated water and salt water.
I remember when I was a kid there was a kiosk at the Mall of America that would sell Hermit Crabs with little plastic pet carriers and a small habitat. At the time it was the coolest thing ever, but looking back on it those cages were hardly “habitats”. Luckily they aren’t sold there anymore
A classic as always, TierZoo. Been hoping for an insect tier list, or at least one about ants, since they were mentioned previously as being higher tiers in the insect meta.

But if the class you rely on loses popularity or gets banned, you're gonna have a hard time unless you can spec out of it real quick. Avocados tried that with giant sloths and the only reason they didn't lose all viability when the sloth was banned is because humans had started using them too.

Agreed with saltwater tanks in general. I'm from New England and I went to a vocational highschool, with Environmental Science as my trade. We had freshwater, saltwater and semi-aquatic tanks. My favorite tanks was one of the saltwater ones that had a variety of creatures: a few anemones, a few small saltwater fish, a few crabs & hermit crabs and one small ground dwelling fish. The tank was big enough to host them all. We also had a toad I found in my yard that we put in one of the amphibian tanks and we named it Stoner Kevin.

You should research prairie dogs if you want to find out about social builds. They had the largest cities before the humanoids wrecked them. What have prairie dogs done to deserve it? Just exist, apparently.
I’ve heard coconut crabs are actually surprisingly terrifying to even human builds, because humans actually liken such a crab’s pinch to the bite force of a lion build. Plus, there are rumors among humans who specced into history-related intelligence that Amelia Earhart (an early user of flying vehicles) may have been eaten by the things after the plane vanished (hopefully the fall damage OHKO’d the poor thing before the crabs got to her?)
Coconut Crabs wouldn’t have _actively hunted_ her, they would’ve just waited until she collapsed from a combination of exposure, fatigue, starvation, dehydration, infection, and/or blood loss, and then leisurely strolled over and slowly torn her to pieces while she was still alive but too weak to resist, like they do with any bird who for whatever reason can’t stay in the trees all night. So it’s less ‘death by wolves’ and more like ‘death by pigs’.
This is good, but I’d love to see a tier list looking at the subterranean members of sandy intertidal ecosystems. The stealth playstyle is definitely viable on the beach, just underground!
@@nerdywolverine8640 well you actually dont know, yes it is if we are describing a cyber giraffe which is blue: blue cyber giraffe. If we are describing a giraffe of the color: cyber blue, then it is a cyber blue giraffe.
Yes they are they have the ability to shoot lasers, a gift from the now extinct human and the cyber armor give them great defense. Despite being slow they can shoot robot green spy birds using their teeth and long neck. Their problem making them low tier is how they only spawn in the mega zoo and can barley get XP and evolved the ability to gain XP with their radio waves irradiating local animals without robotic parts like the primal orangutan which hasn’t gotten into making robot expansions yet as they have a lower intelligence than humans. Over all the cyber blue giraffe is a solid C tier as it can climb to high A if they can not spawn in zoos only.

Hermit crabs are very successful and completely viable in most coastal and ocean servers, I see them all the time when I visit my local beach server. a very good pick for any coastal or ocean server players looking for a good creature to main. its also a very noob friendly build, good for both new and experienced players. and is a very simple build and can easily be modified to certain strats or server environments. its only real threat is human pollution and climate change but these 2 threats seem to hurt its predator's more then it so its not all bad. I give it a 9 out of 10 on the build rating, the only thing holding it back from a 10 out of 10 is human player made environmental damage, otherwise its a very good well rounded build that anyone can make work. Good work hermit crab players, you spent you're evolution points wisely.

Maybe, but honestly I think a better answer is to just nerf humans. They are simply WAY too op, and there would definitely be huge outrage if the devs implemented a stat that's entirety based on how likely you are to be targeted by humans.

Crabs aren't really low tier by themselves, it's more that the meta has shifted since their introduction to offset them. The entire reason why you only started to see the more interesting Gastropods start becoming viable in the mid Jurassic is because the crabs came onto the scene around then and crushed a lot of the simpler bivalve and gastropod builds into irrelevance.
your name is simmilar like that website
Powercreep = low tier
@@BobJones-pg9zy y
You can make the same argument for any other trash build, because they also outcompeted a species that occupied the same niche before them. So no, crab = bad.
@@давидцыгановский I mean, it's still a better build than people give it credit for. There aren't a lot of better benthic scavengers (outside of some of the more niche deep ocean ones) than crab builds, after all, and there isn't a whole lot that tends to have good match ups with them outside of higher tiers.
So cool of the Devs to outsource balance patches to the Human player community. I mean, their playerbase did find the exploits in the first place. Hope it goes well.
I wish the max level players would stop farming XP and abusing game mechanics, instead help the low levels deal with this.
@@HolyDuckTurtle A lot of players are just afking at the top of the leaderboards hording all the good loot and in game currency. It's ridiculous, people keep talking about adding a new Mars or Moon dlc but what we really need is just a fucking balance patch.

@@blueberry1vom1t No, we don't need balance patch as it would probably sent human player base back in like 2000 years of evolution at least. Remember that player base is greedy and toxic. They are tryhards so making balance patch forcefully would make it only worse.

I felt like re-watching this video after finishing Another Crab's Treasure.
This.
Hermit crabs are often said to be an easy pet, but this is far from the truth.

@@glupshitto5019 As if humans aren't picky? lol
A classic as always, TierZoo. Been hoping for an insect tier list, or at least one about ants, since they were mentioned previously as being higher tiers in the insect meta.
I love my buggies
Ants alone can have their own tier list. So many different variants and specializations in that playstyle.
A lot of people underestimate the “domesticated” ability. You can farm food and water with protection from bigger builds.
human mains have a similar ability called Employment. basically a requirement to get by in this stale ass meta, but idk... i mean yeah it's technically more freedom and resources compared to Domestication, but the average time and skill point investments required are nuts. the fuck do i do with better gear if i don't have time to use it?
But if the class you rely on loses popularity or gets banned, you're gonna have a hard time unless you can spec out of it real quick. Avocados tried that with giant sloths and the only reason they didn't lose all viability when the sloth was banned is because humans had started using them too.
@@storyspren most fruit and veg builds have it coming, their entire gimmick is dying and respawning.

Having hermit crabs was one of my favorite parts of owning a saltwater tank. I mean, i love the fish obviously, but it was always awesome to pay attention to the little dudes helping to keep the reef clean. Had no idea how important they were to reefs before that.

I like how this fish is like:
"Mmm, this rock looks yummy..."

This is especially true on pacific islands.
Hermit Crab players are the types of people to pick the noob-trap character, but choose to actually push the limits of their character instead of sticking to the basics. Props to them for that.
