Your analysis of the difference between American /European propaganda in National Media is spot on. It’s difficult for some people to go deeper than tribalism and stat sheets with regard to analysis. It has created a toxic atmosphere subtly destroying what could be a great opportunity to expand basketball around the world. IMO racism and xenophobia are toxic for team sports and society at large
Wonder what he will say about Cooper Flagg, he isn’t a European born guy and he’s probably going to be an all nba type of player. Cause when he talks about Euros ruining the game, he never mentions Giannis or Victor. So if he goes at Cooper, you know what it really is about.

Honestly Gil has to be playing a bit because at this point it's a little ridiculous how many of his takes are just xenophobic with no basis. Like he has to have seen that narrative and decided kept running with it.
What I’ve always hated in nba media is: Black American young prospect = next Jordan/kobe/lebron White/european young prospect = next bird/kucoc/turkoglu Before these players even get drafted, the media is already making judgements on them based on where they’re from or their background and it’s totally unfair to these guys.
Last 15 champions (2009-2023): Dirk/2011, Giannis/2021, Jokic/2023 had an international player as the main guy, so 3/15 = 20% In that time span, Kobe, Steph, Kawhi, and LeBron (honorable mention KD) were the US players to lead their team to a championship The International representation is not insignificant Also, 15 years ago, nobody was saying International players were taking over the league. That started about give years ago. In that time span, an international player has won the MVP every single time, and won the championship as the lead guy 2/5 seasons. Gil either a hater or dumb, or maybe both
It’s hilarious he didn’t even mention Dirk who beat Kobe-KD-Russ-Harden-Lebron-Wade-Bosh in 2011 lol. And I suppose we could get into the semantics of “main” guy, but I seem to recall the Spurs having two pretty decent Euros and I think they had a little bit of success. Kobe probably doesn’t win his final 2 titles without Pau who was their 2nd best player. His whole premise isn’t just stupid it’s embarrassingly false.
Heaven forbid we give praise to a Euro for putting up historic numbers on a winning team. Gil is somehow more patriotic than a rural Kansas boy in 1942

Eh, he's been shitting on Giannis, too. According to Gil, Giannis is the reason Dame can't play good ball no more.
Yeah, but those are raw statistics....how many people are actually comparing them or saying Luka is at that level? Even Kidd's comment didn't do that....he was just saying there is a level HOF's like Dirk are at and obviously Jordan is on a different one and said Luka is in the Jordan "realm". That doesn't mean he thinks Luka is as good or better than Jordan.
@@superstar_h_gamer5211 No, I know you weren't saying that. I'm just saying if that's what Arenas is referring to it's stupid. Looking at raw numbers and saying "Well, the last person to average such and such was.." is just looking at numbers. Doesn't mean the person or people looking at them automatically are saying: "This guy is on the same level as this guy."

I think in the next few years we’re going to have a cool lil problem where there might not be a face. We’re just gonna have a buncha gods playing the sport we love to watch
The difference between Harden and Luka is the playoff performances and respectfully Tatum has had bad performances in the playoffs and been bailed out by his team while Luka can’t even afford to do so
I’m a Mavs and whenever Luka is brought up by other fanbases, the number one criticism is that he don’t play any defense even though that’s far from true this year. So to say that he doesn’t get criticized for it is 1000% untrue. In fact, Reggie Miller was the one who called him out for being out of shape as one of the key reasons why it’s was so poor and the media ran away with that take for like two years. Lol.
Say this all the time “black Americans don’t hate racism…. They’re annoyed they were left out “ Obviously it’s not all, but when you listen closely you hear it. Similar to how some feminists don’t want equality just “their turn”
Luka is the scoring leader right now. Second in assists and top percentile for rebounds. Stats don’t lie but Gilbert does. That’s why he’s named Gilbert that’s Karma.
I think nick wright might be included in the Luka overhype saying he’s already a top 20 player all time but the logic goes out the window cause he was the BIGGEST Jokic hatter in the world lol
If we're keeping it funky(and I know we're not) no American player would have been allowed to lose in the first round by gentleman's sweep and then just claim "it wasn't a loss it was steps to success" without getting absolutely KILLED by the media. And no American superstar would be able to ride one chip for the rest of their career without even coming close to sniffing another one.
I agree that Luka is basically a prime Harden. The treatment between him and a prime Harden is baffling. We never considered a prime Harden the best player although his stats were other worldly. We’ve been quick to put Luka in that convo. This is the first year he may be there.
Because Luka is already better than peak Harden at age 25… Luka’s best FG% 3PT% 2PT% eFG% are all better than Harden’s career high. More rebounds per game than Harden’s ever had. It took Harden a decade on infinitely more talented teams what it’s taken Luka 5 years to match and largely surpass individually. Infinitely better passer than Harden at any point. And again, he’s 25. Peak Harden was 28-30.
To be the face you have to be the face of teams that contend most years like the Bulls or LeBrons Heat/Cavs did. Luka might win a championship or two but his Mavs are unlikely to contend every year. And thats what being "the face" really is about. And I'm not a rings person but the main character is the one the story follows the most.
Here’s a list of some of the players who have as many All-Star appearances (3) as Gilbert Arenas: Detlef Schrempf, Brandon Roy, Dan Majerle, Glen Rice, Marc Gasol, Ben Simmons, Phil Chenier, Deron Williams, Peja Stojaković, Rich Hamilton, Buck Williams, Mark Aguirre, Eddie Jones. Agent IQ 0, Agent 0 Relevance, deserves the same attention we give to them
12:15 this is the main problem I have with mainstream sports media, everything has become too much about the narrative and not enough about the actual game. The craziest opinion dominates the waves no matter how bad it is. It’s so annoying.
If you wanted to, you could look at Luka and say "he's Michael Jordan without the defense," but then you'd be like... not comparing him to Michael Jordan. He has a Jordanesque offensive impact, but not the defensive metrics. "Prime James Harden" is a decent comp, but Harden's best 5 years were seasons 7-12, Luka is only now in his 6th season as a pro and it's basically a tie.
It’s only been a few “faces” of the league. You can be the best player in the NBA and still not be the face. It’s only been about 3-4 faces of the NBA since it started
Is comparable to a Magic or a LeBron in their game. The scoring and the passing. He’s not on their level yet to say today he’s as good as those players. We aren’t going to say he’s better than Bird, Magic, LeBron, or Jordan. He’s young and got a long way to go. But the skills are there to see him being in the conversation with those guys when we project his career and what he will do in this game by the time he’s done.
Want to talk about criticism being more for US players compared to Europeans? Let's have a comparison of the reactions to Mitchell, Embiid and Luka's 70 point games. Or what ESPN was saying when Luka dropped his 60/20/10 game. When Luka does all time great, unmatched stat lines media say the league is broken or the opposition was terrible. When Mitchell and Embiid dropped 70 those same people were on their knees slobbering.

@@cbjones2218 Tatum is not good enough to be the best player on a championship team
The amount of black media personnel saying SGA is the MVP is amusing to me. I'm a casual so I could easily be mistaken but I don't feel like there's a case for him, less efficient and dependent on free throws, but he has the athleticism people love.
Hating on Luka is crazy, he is so humble and talented young player
Far from being humble, he whines and complains all the time like US born PGs…
Gil’s CTE Arena back at it again
Wonder what he will say about Cooper Flagg, he isn’t a European born guy and he’s probably going to be an all nba type of player. Cause when he talks about Euros ruining the game, he never mentions Giannis or Victor. So if he goes at Cooper, you know what it really is about.
Luka is already the new face of the NBA outside of the USA
Gilbert played 11 seasons and Luka already has more points than him😂😂😂
I know this is not a white vs black thing because african americans feel the same way about the african guyanese doctor but it's funny that he puts things on people that if one didn't knew luka personality would think it's true. American kids are ending school and joining the nba chest out luka was winning against adults in europe and never asked for anything, yall can't comprehend that.
to be fair, espn does compare numbers of mj and luka. but that’s simply because there wasn’t another player since mj with those types of numbers. but that’s comparing their numbers, not the players. there are aspects of luka’s game that some espn commentators compare to lbj and harden. they’re also quick to compare luka’s record breaking numbers with wilt or robertson, but again because he’s the first player since those two with those types of records. espn and the nba love to highlight all kinds of record setting numbers, probably because those kinds of things bring them more views. i think they would do the same with any american born player if he put up record breaking numbers
Yup I agree
The only time Luka was ever compared to Jordan was playoff numbers they were very similar but that’s as far as it goes
Gil is the king of confidence over facts, he just speaks, sometimes he starts to contradict himself and gets angry, it’s funny.
Gil, Kenyon Martin, SAS, Keyshawn Johnson etc cant stand the fact that white dude is the best player in the NBA. Luka will win his first ring and FMVP in june this year and they all gon' be on life support

Americans have always made it harder for foreign players. You don’t need to look past Hakeem. If Hakeem was Phillip Davis from Iowa he would be ranked higher on most people’s lists and would’ve been promoted like crazy in the 80’s/90’s
perfect timing was watching your older videos and a new one pops up good stuff low🐐
I thought you were just a reaction guy I dident know you were absolutely brilliant in the sport of basketball you’re honestly great brother
Think it’s less about being European and more about skin color honestly but people not ready for that convo
Exactly as a black guy you can see they don't want the "white boys" running a "black" sport

Imagine saying the ex PLAYER is wrong but a bunch of casual fans are right.. yall insane 😂
That’s what I’m saying
So thank for this channel. The break downs are great

Honestly Gil has to be playing a bit because at this point it's a little ridiculous how many of his takes are just xenophobic with no basis. Like he has to have seen that narrative and decided kept running with it.
What I’ve always hated in nba media is:
Black American young prospect = next Jordan/kobe/lebron
White/european young prospect = next bird/kucoc/turkoglu
Before these players even get drafted, the media is already making judgements on them based on where they’re from or their background and it’s totally unfair to these guys.
Last 15 champions (2009-2023): Dirk/2011, Giannis/2021, Jokic/2023 had an international player as the main guy, so 3/15 = 20%
In that time span, Kobe, Steph, Kawhi, and LeBron (honorable mention KD) were the US players to lead their team to a championship
The International representation is not insignificant
Also, 15 years ago, nobody was saying International players were taking over the league.
I’d like to know where Luka isn’t being criticized for his defense. ESPN/TNT go out of their way to shit on Luka
Heaven forbid we give praise to a Euro for putting up historic numbers on a winning team. Gil is somehow more patriotic than a rural Kansas boy in 1942
Gilbert is American Born...his 4 grand parents and his father are not !!
😂
I've seen people compare Luka's stats this season to a couple different Jordan seasons from the 80s, but that's about it. I haven't seen anyone compare him to Jordan himself.
oh my you brother spitting out a very goods fact. you just earned my like and subs. keep it up
For me. It wasnt even the homophobia or low class from anthony edwards that made me kind of a hater.
It was the MJ comparisions.
Gilbert just talking about me comparing Luka to MJ
Hot Takes:
Players too Good to be an All-Star, not that Good to be a SuperStar: Jason Tatum, Carmelo Anthony, DeMar DeRozan.
Players too Good to be in the G-Legue, not that Good to be in the NBA: Dennis Smith Jr., Quinn Cook, Michael Beasly
Gil be moving the goal post or changing his logic depending on the subject
Sabonis, Sengun, Gobert, Porzingis and Bogdanovic (before the trade) and to an extent OG Anunoby and Vucevic have great seasons and no one even cares.
Gil is engagement farming, he will do it with Cooper Flagg, who is legit the best white American prospect since Larry Bird.
He only hate on foreign born players
Over chet?
@@thedepresseddog6035 Chet is a beast, but athletically and defensively can't stack up to Flagg, who at 17 is 6'8", 200+ and is still growing, he reclassified to get to NBA at 19 and will physically be able to hang.

But if someone said the same about a black player... 😑
love the 2 second filter at 7:49😭
Luka from day one was shit on for his lack of defense. Even right now he's still getting shit on for his defense and he's actually been an average to slightly above average defender this year, and has been pretty good on defense the last 3 years. Every year he gets better on defense.
Preach. Wish I could like this video more than once.
You should have a show in MSM,always good takes.
Anyone else think Gil is going after “Euros” because he’s actually mad about white guys being some of the best players in the league? Because he explicitly gave Embiid and Giannis a pass on his “we shouldn’t let Euros in the NBA” take.
Eh, he's been shitting on Giannis, too. According to Gil, Giannis is the reason Dame can't play good ball no more.
@ thats just crazy the damn trade killed the bucks team set up wise you could blame giannis for that though
Man these old heads want Tatum to be the best in the league so bad when he’s just not
literally the face of euro basketball but now us euros will have nearly what 4 out of the top 5 players in the league being euros maybe even 5
Tbh you got the best views out there 👏👏
Luka MJ isn't a comp but
Lukas stats in the playoffs are so eye popping he's constantly on lists with Mj i think that's what he's talking about
Yeah, but those are raw statistics....how many people are actually comparing them or saying Luka is at that level? Even Kidd's comment didn't do that....he was just saying there is a level HOF's like Dirk are at and obviously Jordan is on a different one and said Luka is in the Jordan "realm". That doesn't mean he thinks Luka is as good or better than Jordan.
@@KClouisville I never said he's correct dude. I'm just saying that's the only time I've heard Luka mentioned with Mj that's all
@@superstar_h_gamer5211 No, I know you weren't saying that. I'm just saying if that's what Arenas is referring to it's stupid. Looking at raw numbers and saying "Well, the last person to average such and such was.." is just looking at numbers. Doesn't mean the person or people looking at them automatically are saying: "This guy is on the same level as this guy."
Not the RUclipsr we deserve, but the RUclipsr we need.
I feel like Gil ans Low are going to end up debating and working together
Gil has given low so much content this month 😂
😂I mean...all things considered...hes the only one who fits the bill with exception of Trae Young. Those two are the only ones with consistent improvement with flashes of being the #1 guy. It's just unfortunate that they are on bad teams or stuck in the phase of Rebuilding.
Zion has to climb through hell just to be relevant again, Ja keeps cheddar bobbing himself & Jason Tatum is a Choker.
I think in the next few years we’re going to have a cool lil problem where there might not be a face. We’re just gonna have a buncha gods playing the sport we love to watch
Saying Luka was being compared to Jordan and saying he's just James Harden like James Harden wasn't being compared to Jordan 😂
They’re annoyed they were left out “
Obviously it’s not all, but when you listen closely you hear it. Similar to how some feminists don’t want equality just “their turn”
I hate that everyone is so focused on who is better than who, who is the greatest, etc. enjoy the talent
He maybe referring to all the times Luka does a record breaking something and the media keeps showing lists with Jordan on it.
They did the same for James Harden
Gil is just baffling. I'm not even mad at this point.
Luka is the scoring leader right now. Second in assists and top percentile for rebounds. Stats don’t lie but Gilbert does. That’s why he’s named Gilbert that’s Karma.
Need to thank gil.
I think nick wright might be included in the Luka overhype saying he’s already a top 20 player all time but the logic goes out the window cause he was the BIGGEST Jokic hatter in the world lol
Nick Wright is high af saying Luka an top 20 player all time but thats how Lebron meat riders are
Nick wright had Jokic like top 15 all time??? How is he a hater???
@@doomsday_72he does now but my point was he doesn’t just ride euros which was gils point
Let's just call it Gils Barbershop and really get chatting.
Peak Harden was 28-30.
gil's arena is a xenophia-con-fest
To be the face you have to be the face of teams that contend most years like the Bulls or LeBrons Heat/Cavs did. Luka might win a championship or two but his Mavs are unlikely to contend every year. And thats what being "the face" really is about. And I'm not a rings person but the main character is the one the story follows the most.
Here’s a list of some of the players who have as many All-Star appearances (3) as Gilbert Arenas:
Detlef Schrempf, Brandon Roy, Dan Majerle, Glen Rice, Marc Gasol, Ben Simmons, Phil Chenier, Deron Williams, Peja Stojaković, Rich Hamilton, Buck Williams, Mark Aguirre, Eddie Jones.
The main knock on Luka from everyone in the main media is that he doesn’t play defense, what is this dude on smh it’s concerning.
Got you a sub bravo your good 😊
It’s only been a few “faces” of the league. You can be the best player in the NBA and still not be the face. It’s only been about 3-4 faces of the NBA since it started
Lucas game is identical to Houston Rockets James Harden, Gil was definitely right about that though, same exact moves same exact style..
They need to go ahead and invite you on Gil’s arena
🔥🔥
All I got to say is “ Taco Bell commercial” 😂
Gilbert is wrong, but Low his point was how Luka is/was in the goat conversation
actually great analysis and input- no diddy
