These generation 1 colorado/canyons were affordable. Tacomas are too damn expensive, even used. Nice trucks. Easy to work in and around. Great fuel economy.
@@mr.gainiac6304 The Colorado has a 2.8 4 cylinder, and the canyon has the 3.5 I5. Before 2007, those were the only 2 engine options. After 2007, they changed it to a 2.9 4 cylinder and a 3.7 I5. They also added a 5.3 V8 in 2009.
I own an 04 Caynon Z71 Crew Cab with Leather and the 3.5L i5, hasn't let me down in the 5 years i've owned it. In that time I've owned about 7 other vehicles, none of which have been as reliable as my canyon.
Why I'd this video out there? Both engines available in both trucks. Both trim levels available in both trucks. The only differences are the badges, the grills, and the air bag cover on the steering wheel.
My friend has an 08 Colorado EXT cab with leather. It's just perfect for what she does. She works on a farm and still gets good gas mileage driving to our home town and back to college.
I haven't heard to many good things bout these trucks but haven't ever seen one in depth before until this vid. That chevy sure is yellow thou. Lol. Thanks for the tour and comparison on these. :)
Ha. Funny you post this. My dad just sold of his rusty old sonoma sls (245k miles with a 2.2 I4, manual trans; he bought it brand new in '98) and just bought a brand new gmc canyon sle with a 3.7 I5 with the offroad package. Both red extended cab trucks. Lets hope the canyon is as awesome to us as the sonoma was. Nice reviews thumbs up :)
@@retrogaminggenesis6102 haha wow 13 years ago already. He's still driving it! Over 250k miles now, original drivetrain, still chugging along great. Other than that, not too much rust given the mileage, age, and climate it's lived in. He takes care of it - Mobil 1 oil changes every 5k miles, fluid film undercoatings, washed/waxed regularly. Some things have worn out and broken on it, it's been towed a couple times, but nothing major. He actually uses it as a truck too. I bought my first house a few years ago. We're always tackling projects together and that Canyon is in the middle of all of it. Countertops, a snowblower, a pellet stove, a mattress, furniture, ladders, chainsaws, pallets - all kinds of stuff has been hauled around in the back of that thing. What people don't realize is that both of these trucks are known as the Isuzu D-max for the rest of the world. The only difference is that both the Chevy and GMC are made in the US. These cars are the smallest trucks Isuzu make.
I have a 2007 Colorado crew cab LT with 3.7 motor the Colorado in the video is a very base model. I love mine and the 3.7 I5 is a great motor with lots of power 243hp.. Only the base model had manual windows And the GM CD/MP3 players suck. I put a Kenwood in my and I love it, plays cds, mp3sand FLAC files with usb port. Make sure that you put 75 series tires on it(70's throw off the the speedometer by 5 miles an hour at 60).
The GMC canyon is the best! The front end looks 10 times better than chevy's. Throw a lift on a GMC Canyon, and you have one of the best trucks out there!
Today I'm going to check gmc canyon .. The guys is original owner it's a 2004 with 190k miles.. My question is how many miles this trucks can go without major breakdown or problems
I've seen reports on Chevy Colorado forums of 600,000+ miles as long as you maintain them. The inline I5 is a good motor, just idles a bit rough. The 3.7 fixed the head problems that they had with the 3.5 liter.
cool video! i always loved the way this truck looked, just wish there was more incentive to buy one over a silverado.. GM didnt get the fact that this truck not only doesnt do the pickup truck stuff well, but it didnt do the small truck/ practiccal driving thing well either :(
