This is getting serious. I think Dr. Campbell's alert level has jumped up to "a bit cross." There is no higher alert level in Britain.
On a less humorous note, a sign of the serious decay of a civilization is when the people no longer have faith in their government. I think this situation is going to be the straw that breaks a lot of people's backs in that regard; I think a lot of people are going to end up feeling betrayed.
Not that I had a lot of faith in the government to start with, but the sheer incompetence (and possible corruption) of the WHO and the CDC and the Feds in general has really put me into a mindset of I'm on my own with this. The government is to be ignored or outright distrusted.

Where in the hell is their humanity?

The hospital got shut down madical staff and patients quarantined, cdc had to track down all visitors at that period. The hospital and gov. are considering criminal and civil law suit against her. This is one of many cases of reckless and selfish ppl. Even though majority of ppl are following government's guide and common sense very well, I'm thinking as long as these idiots keep popping up this virus is not going anywhere for more months.

For example, at the nursing home Life Center, they have yet to test ANY of the staff. So for weeks they have been going back tot heir homes and infecting communities and that is at the advice of the health Care Quality Assurance Commission otherwise known as the board of nursing. I truly believe those that published and disseminated that information for the last several weeks are responsible for the deaths of the vulnerable in the hospitals and nursing homes. Governments are deciding how best to cope with the inevitable pandemic. Costs and benefits are calculated in money terms rather than human. This is already explicit in the UK over issues like flooding (and think back to Katrina in the US). Naturally, such thinking is not for public consumption right now.
As for China. The machinery of surveillance and control (facial recognition, constant location tracking, links between employers, state and housing supervisors) is great for suppressing both a virus and other things as well. Its cost is justified because its a pre-existing project (partly) repurposed.

However, I'm also a solo parent to a 12 year old who is meant to spend ten hours a day in a petri dish of other middle schoolers leaving me with a dilemma. Your information is helping me navigate this difficult time. I kept my son home on Friday and yesterday received an email from the school department that a parent in our district has tested positive. You've given me factual information to fight this good fight. Thank you from a Bostonian.

I am totally convinced spread is wanted in Canada, Britain, and most especially America. American officials are handling this so stupidly as to take it well beyond absurd to absolutely deliberate as no-one is that stupid.
Just too much is being chalked-up to "Oops" and paradoxically so. We got Blackhawks flying in test kits to a cruise ship that has cases, but Oregon isn't gonna close schools when they have a case? Me thinks appropriate government action with quarantining cruise ship passengers is media play to make it seem like the government is taking this seriously. Meanwhile, all tests for citizens will require doctor's appointments bringing Covid-19 together with routine check-ups. All in the same waiting room and no masks or goggles. It's nuts. Especially considering toddlers and small children who can't keep their hands outta their mouths. Every other country has off-site testing facilities... even Britain has little pods for individual testing OUTSIDE of hospitals.
We're told "Masks are ineffective for the public" while the government hoards masks and has taken full-scale priority from suppliers like 3M and Honeywell where masks will not be on store shelves anytime soon.
In my own community, where there is a case from someone who flew in from Italy, we're told to "Go out! Go to the ballgames! Go to the concerts! It's just like the flu."
I don't want to believe they want spread, but looking at their actions in so many different ways that conflict with basic logic and reason, how can we come to any other conclusion. It's not reactive or no active.. It's worse as we're flat-out lied to and given a false sense of security that will guarantee spread.

When the W.H.O. is saying, "this is NOT like the flu" and media and politics still continue saying, "this is just like the flu"... that's above and beyond "stupid" and even "egotistical". That's willfully ignoring and deliberately shouting the opposite.
I'm no medical genius, but how much of a genius does it take to recognize that no country cripples it's economy to put millions in quarantine for the flu? We're seeing that with both Italy and China.
How much genius does it take to realize, if you don't want spread, you don't tell people to go to ball games, or put Covid-19 possibles getting tested into the same Doctor's office as little Timmy and Grandma Nancy getting routine check-ups? And you don't tell them "masks are ineffective" while you buy up all the masks in production in the weeks and months to come.
At the very least there are free RUclips tutorials on how-to make masks with activated carbon and HEPA filtration we could be far more effectively be directed to, but we're flat-out told they don't work while they buy them up. That's not stupid. That's deliberately manipulating people to not desire masks while governments take the whole stock.
Everywhere one looks at decision-making the decisions are all "stupid" and the absolute inverse of basic common sense. No-one is that stupid... especially collaboratively so.
No. I'm very sorry to say they're not stupid, Hon. They're treating us like we are. There's reason why Dr. Campbell's popularity has soared... we want actual information, because we're not getting it from those we've hired to be "EXPERT" and protect us.

The government seems to be an issue in every country, just like the WHO said “no one is ready”. This seems to be really true. I understand the Dr. Campbells comments and worries. They seem to be more worried about the present economy than health, and they don’t seem to see that we are the economy and the tole will be much higher. Some examples of my country (México) failing to understand, interpret and foresee the situation: We have NO airport screening, all travel allowed. 7 confirmed cases, one 71 yo male severe case, arrived from Italy 21st of feb, the public was told about this patient yesterday (7th march) and the government says “he was in contact with a small number of people”. Seriously? The first three confirmed cases in Mexico were diagnosed and quarantined 3-4 days after they arrived from Italy, where are the other travelers? Airport staff? Take care of yourselves, take care of your families, specially the older ones. The government won’t take care of you, we the people have to take measures to prevent bad scenarios. Stay informed, be proactive in your own homes and don’t believe everything they tell you. This is not to panic, but to give more proof that we as individuals must ACT NOW.

Just chill and relax FOR A MOMENT and reflect a little bit.
The economic impact that the virus is bringing right now THAT'S the problem.
What cure in the world help you if you go to the bank and can't even withdraw 1€.
What cure in the world will help you when people arm up because of an economic crisis?
This will not the same as 2008 because WE DON'T KNOW the financial damage this virus may cause.
In 2008 or 2011 we did now the financial numbers/money we had to pump in the economy BUT NOW that's not the case.
It's not about the death rate (even 2/3% is a very fatal number, imagine 2-3% of 5 billion people dying) or killing mankind, it's about the crisis that's resulting from this virus.
PS: I'm not implying that money goes over health but what health in the world will help you when there is war in every corner in this world and you have NO MONEY OR ANY MEANS TO FEED YOUR FAMILY let alone yourself?
THIS Virus is made for this it's not a coincidence that it originated from CHINA while the CHINESE NEW YEAR, the perfect time for a potential pandemic (where many many people travel across the continent).
Then it went FROM CHINA TO IRAN (like wtf?) than TO NORTHERN ITALY (???).
Italy, a country which is already struggling for years within, a country which is also very central in europe and close to france, germany, switzerland and even to spain.

And, let's consider PREVENTATIVE TIPS too-Not allot of videos are addressing those! .WHO should be called the "What, How, and Oh, we really don't care" Organization! But can you give advice on SOME OPTIONS for us to protect ourselves WITH ?) I joked on the Agenda Free TV Chat today, "Single Quarantined woman seeking man with a limo and allot of ALCOHOL!" They are updated there and accurate, but in counting the deaths of those who who might have died of the common flu, anyway? Not that I find that "funny", but seriously, can you give us some advice in more descriptive detail? For example For those who have to go to work, or be out in public, i.e., such as shopping etc ?Seems GLOVES are allot more practical than continually washing hands to touch something infected (such as an infected shopper's COAT by accident et., )A Scarf dipped in "something", if vinegar and alcohol isn't good enough, (and dried in a hot dryer ) would protect a person out in the PUBLIC, somewhat, wouldn't you think ?I wear glasses btw. so clumsy googles are out, for me-(Though I have some for sculpture work, etc., ) CLUMSY! My advice is mostly for others who MUST go out in public; lots of frantic people out there (I'm reading comments from) worried that the manufactured sanitizers are SO over-priced, duh-follow the money-, and suggestions of BLEACH are all over the place. (Gee, I think that's a dash and a common? Oh, well) I knew a girl in Florida who was a "landscaper", and she washed her hands IN STRAIGHT BLEACH for years-So apparently bleach, much like vinegar, contains allot of H2O or her hands would have become completely destroyed!? , Last night I was reflecting on the NURSE'S comment, they too are out of masks-these masks are stupidly uncomfortable too; Now here's a weird question for a bio-chemist (which you are not, right ?) What if surgeons, MD's and nurse wore a "total BUBBLE" of strong plastic around their heads? Be messy when they sneezed, but think about it ? Those masks and goggles look really uncomfortable-and they have to keep CHANGING, replacing their MASKS too! (That's why I suggested inexpensive Maxi Pads to breath through!) Crazy , yes, but DR'S need more protection than they're getting, TOO!can you form some OPINIONS with SUGGESTIONS regarding the "HOW" people can protect themselves ? Scarves tied like a bandit ? a breathing " pad" of some sort, WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST ??

It's abysmal here in the US. I've never seen such a laid back, reactive response to something so deadly in all my life. Schools and universities wait until someone comes back positive then reacts by closing them down for either a week, or 2 weeks, and very rarely a month, but at that stage all the students/parents are going to spread it to other family members, and other family members are going to spread it back into the community by the time the schools open back up. Every flu season is also a perfect example of US incompetence. When 10% of the whole school is infected with influenza, the schools shut down for 48 hours for "deep cleaning" then wonder why when they open back up all the kids are still getting sick. *sigh*. I doubt USA will employ the counter-measure actions Italy has, so I expect this thing to absolutely blow up.
On Saturday on my drive home from work, I passed about 10 different restaurants, from Denny's, to lots of Mexican places, as well as Steak N Shake, etc. Guess what? ENTIRE RESTAURANTS were full. About 30 cars in each and absolutely packed. People do not care....Then I was at the stop lights, near a restaurant, waiting for it to turn green and I saw someone coming out of the restaurant coughing and sniffling like they are really sick. So no cares here...yet...until their grandparents start dying, or their parents, but then it will be too late.
