I'm surprised that the Bee Gees "Fanny be Tender with my Love" (released in January, 1976) was not on that list. In my opinion,, that song is quite electrifying,, and can be kind of a tear-jerker at the same time,, while listening to it.
Where do I start...I'll be there; You light up my life; Three times a lady; You're in my heart(you're in my soul); you're my first, my last my everything; After the love is gone; Close to you; She's gone; Me and Mrs. Jones; My eyes adored you......
How true Jim. I was born in March 1963 and was a kid of the 1970s and I am glad glad that I grew up in a great decade for music. Music from then will be played for many decades to come but as you say the garbage around today will be forgotten about.
I agree wavesurfer. Kids today don't know they are born. I wish we could return to those days from about 1971 onwards to 1979. Best Music Best Television Best Radio. We had Noel Edmonds on the Radio One Breakfast Show Top of the Pops on a Thursday Starsky and Hutch on a Saturday Night. Chopper Bikes etc etc. we found an old dumped pram and made a go cart out of it. Go out all day untill it got dark.j think kids today are too moddy codalled.
@@TonyWeaving exactly, agree 100% with you, i don't recognise the uk anymore because it's just not the country it once was but i am so grateful i was born in the 60s and can say honestly i did love my childhood & as you say we went out playing all day, made our own fun like making catapults and old baked bean cans into stilts, no phones, no social media, just brilliant fun with friends, i remember those days with a smile 😁✌
My partner who was a lot younger than me said what did you do about food being out all day. I said we didn't really bother we had a couple of bottles of drink and that did us.
Born in January of 1968 and having had much older siblings as well as other older relatives who all loved music of all genres meant that I was exposed to and grew up on a steady diet of all of these songs and then some. I knew who the Bee Gees were LONG before "Saturday Night Fever" came out and I was already hooked. BOY, did I have a wonderful childhood, and I sure am grateful.
We’ve Only Just Begun by the Carpenters was played as we came out of the vestry from signing the register for our marriage back in 1973. I really had to twist the ministers arm to do it, but I believe it was played a lot that year, once he worked out the lyrics, he liked it. “ white lace and promises, a kiss for luck and we’re on our way……. We’ve only just begun “
OH YES ! ONE MORE CLASSIC LOVE SONG FROM THE 70'S !! THE MAESTRO : MR BARRY WHITE, & THE LOVE UNLIM,ITED ORCHESTRA , " LOVE'S THEME ", FROM LATE '73. THIS IS A TRUE TIMELESS CLASSIC ----------------MJL, 78 Y/O
August of '73. Gee, I turned 13 in August of '73. A great groove, too! You Make Me Feel Brand New. Had it on 45 rpm. Wonderful Tonight. Make It With You. Danced to it in '73/74.
My favorite 70's love song to Heatwave's "Always And Forever!" What a beautiful song song came out in 1977! That'sy choice for love somg in 1970's for sure!
Eagles - Best Of My Love, Olivia Newton John - Have You Never Been Mellow, Frankie Valli, - My Eyes Adored You, Captain And Tennille - Love Will Keep Us Together, Hamilton, Joe Frank And Reynolds - Fallin In Love, Dianna Ross - Love Hangover, Mary MacGregor - Torn Between Two Lovers, Player - Baby Come Back, King Harvest - Dancing in the Moonlight, Pure Prairie League - Amie
In my humble opinion I'm Not In Love by 10CC is the greatest love song from the 70's!! Another beautiful song that should have been mentioned is , Just The Way You Are by the brilliant Billy Joel 😊
Meat Loaf’s Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad Dr Hook’s Sharing the Night Together England Dan & John Ford Coley’s Love is the Answer Manhattan’s Shining Star (technically 1980, but it’s still a damn good song) Player’s Baby Come Back
70's radio may have been a golden era but the radio played these songs to death. They are good songs but sheesh I don't hear them anymore .They have become consumed.
I always liked Bob Seeger's "We've Got Tonight", and the Carpenters "We've Only Just Begun"... Also Barbra Streisand's "Evergreen"....They defined the 1970's love songs for me.
I don't think you can narrow it down to just ten songs. You've got the Carpenters, Olivia Newton-John, Commodores, Rod Stewart, Leo Sayer, Frankie Vali, Lobo, Donna Summer, Chicago, Fleetwood Mac, Rita Coolidge, Paul Davis, Ambrosia, Jim Croce...etc. The 70s was jam packed with love songs. And the best thing about them was they were singing to the woman or the man. It wasn't about them, the songs were messages to them.
“Lean on me" Bill Withers was the first song I ever dedicated to a girl, it was 1971 and we were 4th grade classmates and she needed a friend. The next year, 72, I dedicated “The first time ever I saw your face" R.F. to her After our first kiss. From there, I’ve given away zillions of love songs
Let's Get It On - 9 You make me feel brand new - 8 Tonight - 7 Make It With You - 6 Your Song + 5 Without You - 4 I'm Not In Love - 3 Let's Stay Together - 2 How Deep Is Your Love + a Always On My Mind - 1 The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face -
I gave you a like because you did include some beautiful songs. But me, I'm an early 1960's Baby. Some songs that were more romantic include "Stoned In Love With you" by the Stylistics'; "My Eyes Adored You" by Frankie Valli; "I Like Dreamin'" by Kenny Nolan. Those are just to name a few.

Let me know what your favorite 1970s Love song was. Do you think there's a song that should of made this list?
Chicago If You Leave Me Now from 1976 should have made the list.
I'm surprised that the Bee Gees "Fanny be Tender with my Love" (released in January, 1976) was not on that list. In my opinion,, that song is quite electrifying,, and can be kind of a tear-jerker at the same time,, while listening to it.
What about 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' by Olivia Newton John also a soundtrack in Grease.
I miss The Carpenters lovesongs throughout the 70s, start with Close to You in 1970. Agree with you about Roberta Flack as no 1 ❤from 🇩🇰
I agree I hated it as a kid but now I love it
Debbie Boone's song is the one that comes to mind - U Light Up My Life. The song I still listen to is Afternoon Delight.
We played the Bread album over and over ❤
Born in 1968.....Someone missed Nicolette Larson "A lotta Love" that song still makes me cry, what a Beautiful Woman when I was a child
Where do I start...I'll be there; You light up my life; Three times a lady; You're in my heart(you're in my soul); you're my first, my last my everything; After the love is gone; Close to you; She's gone; Me and Mrs. Jones; My eyes adored you......
You Light Up My Life, I Honestly Love You
The late 60s and 70s had the best music. The garbage they’re passing off as music now is a slap in the face to song writers.
