Um, about Cheryl Lynn: While "Got to Be Real" was her only POP hit, she had a number of other R&B chart hits over the years: "Shake It Up Tonight" (#5, 1981); "Encore" (#1, 1984); "Every Time I Try to Say Goodbye" (#7, 1989); and the duet with Luther Vandross, "If This World Were Mine" (#4, 1982). Oh, she also helped Toto hit the Top 20 on the R&B chart with "Georgy Porgy" in 1979 (she basically sang the song's chorus--perhaps as a favor to one of the guys who helped her write "Got to Be Real" as David Paich was one of the founding members of Toto).

    Amazing 1970's disco songs revisited!
A few of these songs were not actually one hit wonders as those particular artists had more than one hit, at least minor hits.
These were amazing and wonderful pop and disco hits of the 1970's! Although i am a man living far out in South Asia, i enjoyed listening to these songs very well. ❤ That was a wonderful time! 😊
    Fond memories remain.
I miss that golden era of music. 😔
Thank you for the video! 🎉

We used go to Buzzby's in San Francisco during the 70's, that had a all steel dance floor and a DJ up above it with lights like a theater marquee. They put sawdust on the dancefloor so you wouldn't slip and fall. Heard these songs there, and had such a good time. If I had a time machine would love to go back there and get the experience again (but not in my old 70 year old body) Dan Hartman also had another hit "Instant Replay" that got a LOT of play back then in the discos. I love all these songs. David Paich’s last name is pronounced “Paych,” one syllable, not the two syllable “Pay-itch.” You said “Disco Duck” had a “unique duck voice.” No, it sounds like Donald Duck. Not “everyone” was dancing to it. Michael Zager’s last name is pronounced “Zaygur.” It does not rhyme with “Jagger.” The “Let’s All Chant” lyric goes “…everybody work your body,” not “everybody moves your body.” You can hear the real lyric right after you spoke! Andrea True Connection was not a one hit wonder; their “N.Y. You Got Me Dancing” reached #27. You said “More, More More” had lines like “I want your love, I want your love.” No, that line is nowhere in the song. Are you a bot who got confused with Chic? Thelma Houston was not a one hit wonder; after “Don’t Leave Me This Way” reached #1, “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning” reached #34. Sylvester was not a one hit wonder; he had three top 40 pop chart hits and you did not even featured the biggest of them! “Dance (Disco Heat)” reached #19; ”I (Who Have Nothing)” reached #40. Your graphics omitted the parentheses around “Mighty Real.” You said Sylvester was known as the queen of disco. You think he was called that more than Donna Summer or Gloria Gaynor were? Songs are not one hit wonders; artists may be. Artists record songs; songs don’t record songs.

ARMED/EXTREMELY DANGEROUS may well have been their most mainstream billboard pop hit, but the group has several other songs that are popular among black urban listeners, especially those into house music. LET NO MAN PUT ASUNDER, DOUBLE-CROSS, DOCTOR LOVE and HOLD YOUR HORSES are all righteous club bangers that are easily recognizable to listeners. To a lesser extent, I would also make this case for Thelma Houston. But this was a fun video overall. Took me back to some cuts I hadn't thought about in decades.

    Earth Wind and Fire
In the late 70s, I was working as a flight attendant for TWA. I worked on a charter flight for the group. They were SO drugged out during the flight and proceeded to do over 100k damage to the aircraft.
A few walked [the group, their musicians and staff] embarrassed. But many of the 50 plus members were HIGHER than when they got on the plane. In fact, one of them slid a block of Blotter [LSD on paper, ⅓ inch squares] into my uniform jacket pocket, saying, 'you're cool man'.
And yes, I tried a piece of one at The 'Hottest' Disco in Manhattan, 12 West, the following weekend. What made that night extra special was that one of their songs played while I was on the dance floor.
AND YES, I do miss the 70s. [sheepish smile]
