@@SnowBee good to see you again as well, have weatched all the videos you have put out and liked the amm but have not commented on them life has been hectic. Hope all is good with you
@@MrWhitearchon Thanks, yes, doing well, just hope I will have enough time when some of the big games come out later this year. Of course, who knows when A20 for 7D2D will ever drop.
I got lucky and found a bat tumbler key on day one before i even hit the trader, and i found it by searching a bat tumbler so free car. getting gas was a bitch though i broke down so many cars it is not funny.
I am really enjoying the mod, but there are a lot of things I do not understand nor can I find answers. How do I get slime? What am I supposed to do after the initial quests?
Yeah, I will be doing a beginners guide soon. Everything starts from reading your journal, and then making sure you get a quest table or bench crafted. You can find quests in their for the main story line. The slime quest is there. They are generally underground in caves. Just wander around and explore. Slimes in caves also reset.
@@SnowBee Gods speed friend. Thank you. I started exploring bc you stated it was essential. I have definitely made some progress but am still a bit lost. Thank you for the instructional content!
Yes, some do find it quite annoying. There is one or two that I don't enjoy, but it is what the dev has put in. The mod in general though, is pretty awesome, but does appeal more to some than others.
Eventually when you get through a few more overhauls I would love to see a video comparing all of them in terms of difficulty, performance, immersion, balance, progression, story, uniqueness, quality of life, etc., and what you would say is just overall most fun for you.
Hey Pendulum I have been avoiding that, but you never know, I just may do it. It is just a pretty difficult and often quite subjective question, so often turning into "this mod is better than another". I am not naive, I certainly do believe certain features in various overhaul mods are done better than maybe another mod, but I still am cautious to go about comparing them. It can often end up in a mess of disagreement and unhappiness. However, I maybe able to do it in a balanced and not too critical way.
Hey Gronal! Haha, well now... I guess that is what these videos are supposed to do. lol There is an update, version 6.8, coming out in a few days, so you may want to give it a miss until then, as it may require a restart.
@@Gr0nal There is an EXP version that Pipermac is looking to have tested. So you can give that a go as it has the new themepark he has added for v6.8. It is on their discord if you want to try it.
Lol when I want to take a break I avoid 7d2d RUclips videos... Except Neebs. Though, I'm taking a break from Neebs too while I get over Thick44's untimely passing. The man was pretty close to being my favorite, along with Appsro. One of their most competent gamers is gone for good.
@@bankruptcoffee650 For me, it was when TotalBiscuit passed away, who was a content creator. I was quite heart broken for many days at the loss of such a great talent and source of wisdom in the gaming community.
@@SnowBee total biscuit died?! Sorry about that, got my biscuits mixed up. Still I used to watch both. Total biscuit was definitely in my sphere of RUclips. The one I edited out kind of went drastically far away from my sphere....
Hey Anthony Yeah, I hear you. It has a lot of additional content, however, the core game is still there. So you will still farm, cook, fight monsters in the same way... just you will not get bored soon as all.
Hey man, I just found you after watching sons of the forest videos. Just want to tell you to keep doing this if you enjoy it. Your editing is actually good, and your content is good. I can see you making it far in the youtube-game, just need to find the breakthrough!
That was an EXCELLENT fast overview of the overhaul! For anyone wanting to check out this overhaul, make sure to have a base with a LOT of space and rather high ceilings if you plan to use/checkout all of the workstations!
Hey Emerald You read my mind! Yes, it is one thing that I would do different from my last playthrough, and I certainly will have that in my beginners guide. It was only once I started doing stuff with the cloning did I realise I underestimated the space required in AOO. Good point!
Glad it "worked". Yes, the thumbnail is supposed to be connected with the cloning in the mod. Kind of a "twins" theme. There is one zombie or monster, she is displayed near the end with her audio. She is a "girl scout". Anyway, the whole cloning feature is what inspired the thumbnail. :) The story is pretty long, I think a lot of players don't complete it. However, I hope Pipermac does not nerf it. It is a pretty good story with a lot of supporting POI's and content.
I mean, this looks very cool. The trend in 7D2D mods to add lots of new content is probably positive on balance. Although...while I realize it isn't all this mod does, I'm becoming increasingly skeptical that simply adding a huge number of items, stations and craftables serves to genuinely improve the already great 7D2D game loop. I'm pretty confused by the sheer number of added cooking stations in this mod, for instance. How do all those new cooking stations make the game more fun to play? More is not necessarily better, IMO, and adding items and workstations increasingly adds to the player's mental burden of things they have to track. It's a somewhat unique problem in 7D2D because time is a factor that generally works against you as you prep for the next night/horde/high tier raid/etc. I don't generally have the capacity to spend time figuring out yet another crafting station/materials/crafting loop when what I really need are critical supplies like first aid and repair kits. And I find it particularly tedious and unappealing when mods require additional low to mid tier crafting stations simply to craft items that are similar to or straight up identical to vanilla items. Many mods that do this never really seem to fess up in their descriptions, simply touting 'MORE' without nuance. And adding a huge number of new entity types without some effort on the part of the modder to also address the inevitable performance issues introduced by those new entities seems to be becoming much more common. Having played since A16, I'd guess this is probably among the biggest challenges for TFP with vanilla, and for good reason - it's important to get this right, as there are few things more annoying and immersion breaking than dying due to lag. These things are mostly a matter of taste, for sure. I'd say DF gets this balance mostly right, while for my tastes Rebirth and Ravenhearst devolve into tedium that make them less fun to actually play. Do you have a sense as to where this mod lands in comparison?
Yes, I have heard more is not better argument a lot related to overhaul mods. Especially in the context of DF, AOO and when Undead Legacy started bringing in more difficult monsters last year. As much as the statement on its own is always going to be true, it can go the other way as well. I mean, why not? Seeing as it is a matter of preference, and some people enjoy those additions over the vanilla version, it is really just because players enjoy it. As much as Khaine started doing DF as he felt some stuff was lacking and he was bored over the end year period in 2017, he does tweak, change and add stuff based on players wanting or not wanting things. Albeit, he does draw the line. Do you need all those workstations? Nope, I used maybe half of them in AOO, but my wife who loves cooking and making recipes in DF, was overjoyed at how AOO gave her so many options. So she made stuff just because she could. Were many recipes useful, well, yes, they are, however, you don't need them. Until then, DF was her best food/farming/cooking 7 days to die mod, now it is AOO, just cause of those features. We were going to play Undead Legacy last year together, but just because they did not have a chicken coop yet, we didn't play it, as she really loved her DF chicken coop and was unhappy she couldn't have her chickens. I mean, pathetic? Or is it really about how a game makes you feel and the enjoyment when you play it? All this "excessive" modding and additions are pushed by the community as for some reason people will like that particular version and way of doing things. Devs keep using their imagination to come up with different ways or similar methods to do stuff as players push them. However, when "more" is just killing the game so it can't run or becomes so confusing, then I would agree that the changes are becoming excessive as your ability to just play the game is now a problem. Then all the changes are not enjoyed. Otherwise, yeah, it is just people flexing their imagination and trying to make the game different and hope others share and enjoy those changes. Is AOO really excessive? Well it is by some standards, but by others that can actually play the mod, it is just a matter of what they enjoy. Many won't play DF due to the demons. Period. No question, they will not touch it. It is "not "immersive enough", as it deviates from the vanilla zombie world. I asked myself why do I play AOO over vanilla, well, I guess it is because I get more enjoyment from it than playing without those changes. Maybe a better question to ask would be, why play AOO over DF? Again, I just think it is a matter of what players get a kick out of. Yes, there are changes that make the game slower and more buggy, but don't kill it enough for them to bother.
@@SnowBee Those are all fair points. I genuinely appreciate your thoughtful response, thank you That's very cool you play with your wife, I tried getting my wife into 7D but it didn't quite take...she's much more of a console gamer. I can only imagine my wife would love all the options, too. Hopefully I didn't come across too negatively - I freely admit that I haven't tried the mod and honestly have mad respect for all the modders who work so hard refining the game we all love. And yeah, there isn't a downside to all that choice, I suppose I just prefer a slightly more focused experience - but to each their own, for sure.
@@CosmicIceCream No, you didn't come across negative. You came across as sincerely asking. So, certainly you deserved an answer, not that I feel I can always provide one. My answer is probably a bit distorted, as I play the mods in the context of a content creator. I don't always want to play certain mods, but I do it for the sake of my channel.
@@SnowBee Just watched this again, I decided that I'm going to give it a shot as I have a vacation day tomorrow so will have uninterrupted time to play without wife or daughter aggro :) I'll check out your beginner's guide as well, cheers!
Damn, another overhaul mod. There isn't much more of those left, right? :) Oh yeah, Sealand base. You've taken a base in something formerly British :P Also it was interesting to still be able to find your voice in the intro...
Lord_luba.... Along with Dobbers, you are probably the most interesting person that comments. Yet again, you picked up something. Yes, the Red Sands Forts building during WW2 are certainly pretty amazing, and are pretty well portrayed in the mod, however their name in the mod doesn't actually suggest it. I didn't mention anything extra, I was tempted, but actually was cutting stuff all over the place. Time can be a pain with me as I really can waffle on at times and not get to the point. So the original time used to be around 20 minutes... which needed to be cut back. When I posted, I must admit, I thought the first thing I was going to hear from you, if you did post, was, isn't it time for Undead Legacy! :) Yes, that is my voice. :) Along with my video where I got my daughter to do the intro (which I will never do again), I was quite uncertain and anxious about how the whole intro would go this time. Do something weird, and it could work, but sometimes it fails.
@@SnowBee Thank you, I'm trying to not be an uninteresting majority :) Yeah, strange things is my kind of thing and it was interesting to see that POI in the video. Someone spent quite some time on that. Well you haven't cut it that much considering it's just under 17 minutes. Whatever the others might say I wouldn't mind even longer videos showcasting mods - more info and things and you make the videos in a great way to keep viewers interests. It was an interesting moment to find out it was your voice in that intro. I mean, who else's voice that would be, right. But still finding those not so twisted vowels here and there and confirming it's you was satisfactory. And I'm gonna skip reacting on the mention I should've mentioned "Still no UL". Out of that routine just to surprise you, hehe.
@@azirus Yeah, the next mod will actually be UL, I think I did suggest that will be the direction I take after AOO. However, I am trying to move slightly away from 7D2D for various reasons, so I will be throwing in other content more often. My main problem is my RL work, which gets in the way, so I tend to give that a lot of time, along with the family as well. So, my roadmap is UL, also see what A21 has to provide, and then any other survival type games that catch my attention. Certainly Sons of the Forest could be something I stick with a while if it does release next month.
@@SnowBee Got that from the previous video we talked about it, I'm just patiently waiting. Yeah, it's fine RL and family comes first then YT ;) And ofc other games are welcome.
The loot crates have been nerfed since this, but the crates are still in the main quests that you need to follow. So, doing the missions will still bring you your loot. Farming, also still has loads of stuff.
lol, yeah, been busy with RL work. I am hoping by the weekend. This is one mod that would likely do with some guides. The journal is pretty good though.
Yes, for me the drinking of water is annoying. However, the dev says that one of the reasons he left it like that is to get people to try start using other better forms of drink. Overall, most of them I don't mind. The fat bastard one can be very long... with the farting. Maybe that one can be annoying. :)
Yeah, I didn't even know about them until I started to explore for my cloning videos. When I was roaming just with a few guards, it makes life much easier, let alone a horde of guards.
I love this mod. CHop up girl scouts and you get cookies! And I don't know about other pets, but Sally the cat picks fights all the time... Then disappears for days on end. Typical cat.
Haha, yeah those girl scouts always give me the creeps. I didn't "domesticate" the cat, only the dog, horse, and I think it was the monkey. Did some reading, and couldn't find if they were fighters or not. However, you can also clone pets, and I think certain ones will fight for you... at least from what I have read. Something to test.
Oh hell, someone asked me that yesterday. I didn't really give them an answer as until then I had not thought about it. I will say this, DF gets more difficult. AOO starts off more difficult, but gets easier. That at least is my impression. I also find that in DF I tent to use all features, but with AOO I find you don't need all what the mod offers. Overall, for a less stressful experience, AOO is what I would play. AOO has tough enemies, but they are not like DF enemies and the continual barrage of fire/burning (until you get power armour) can be annoying. I know this sounds like a cop-out, but I REALLY like both mods and I would play them both for the sake of playing and having fun, just with different content and stories.
Hi!! How are things? I hope all is well. I tried this mod when it came out, it looked good but also a lot of bugs. Now that it's been completed, maybe I'll give it another try. Greeting
Hey other galaxy! :) The only major bug I had was near the end of the story with one of the teleporters. It messed up the last part of the story for me, and I know it is something that some others have experienced. However, I don't think many make it to the end of the story as it is quite long.
@@SnowBee One of the missions bugged me, he asked me to craft a table and I lost that mission drop, luckily I had only been playing for 5 days, but I did find it interesting and difficult, which is what I like hehehe
When I posted in the comments that the game (the base) lacks a story, everyone thought I was crazy. Finally, I also see that someone thought of a story. It doesn't matter how crazy it is, what matters is that it is a story. And I appreciate that to those who thought up the story. I can only give 5/10 because I would appreciate more a story closer to the truth (the days we live in) (viruses, conspiracies, etc.).Anyway, I appreciate the effort and I can only wish you good luck in the realization of a new project.
Hey Renata It is higher than most mods, pretty sure of that. The 10k map is recommended, which already puts you on the large sized map. Then all the assets must be loaded in. Of the mods I have played, AOO is the slowest to load. It is probably on par with the old Darkness Falls, before Khaine did the revamping and many tweaks. Now Darkness Falls loads much faster. Yeah, AOO is certainly hungry for memory, and I would not play it on anything lower than 16GB.
No, not really. Very standard vanilla stuff. Same as mining which I didn't bother saying anything as you get the same resources like vanilla. There are some different "rocks" you can mine on the surface, they are rare, but I never even bothered to use them in my playthrough. However, you can mine them with a pickaxe same as other ores.
Yeah, I think its story is one of the better and is quite logical. Two different story techniques, and they both work: Darkness Falls leads you through the story, while AOO tends to give you the basics and sends you out to explore and discover the locations.
Hi, I really enjoy your content… Thank You. I am looking for a challenge with 7D2D. I am considering Rebirth, Age of Oblivion, Apocalypse Now or revisiting Darkness Falls (the latest Version) OR should I hold out for Sons of the Forest? Any Advice/Suggestions?
Honestly, I am a bit biased, I would wait for Sons of the Forest. It is a game I have been waiting for for ages, and am very hyped for it. However, to kill some time, which you may or may not have, I would go with Apocalypse Now if you want something new. It is different and has many changes, but it is not that complicated. Although, if you already know Darkness Falls, then you may want to just dig back into that as there won't be much of a learning curve. Version 4.1.1 stable is the latest version, you may want to take a look at the video below if you don't know some of the changes: ruclips.net/video/6bt9onK-L1U/видео.html
@@SnowBee Thank you… My small group (4 players) were leaning towards Rebirth but I will give Apocalypse another look… Apocalypse didn’t seem very challenging but it’s popular. Age of Oblivion has a bit of a storyline and coming from DF my team likes more focus than just quickly finishing the intro quest and roaming around. We tried War of the Walkers with the added NPCs, Whisperers, Rogues and Psychos. It was enjoyable and that got us on the quest to find something with a little more bite.
@@sdk168 I suggested Apocalypse Now as it is more of a challenge in the past few months. However, if you are going play SotF from the 23rd of February, then you want something that won't take too much time. You can certainly play Apocalypse Now in two weeks with friends.
No they wont like it, its not realy fun. No challenge when its 4 people doing nothing but quests not many weapons, too long to get into the fun swing of things and also the dumb ques will get youtube to hit them for monetization. Dosent do much for horde night and the story seams very skeletonized. The easy mode of buy a key for the vehicle will get boaring as F
I know Arenas are not working on a server currently. Otherwise it should be fine. Have you watched my version 7 patch info that came out a few hours ago? It changes quite a few things, mainly from a story and skill point of view.
I'd say the only thing missing from this mod, that was almost instantly brought to mind, is the BFG 9000. Would obviously have the be the endgame weapon, either for or after the final boss. Would also probably be a whole lotta coding to make it obliterate everything in its path.
Haha, well, the end game area is quite small... will be interesting to see how the player's survival would be taken into account :) Then again it may not need to explode I guess.
@jigglie8077 it is going to take a while before stable. I do think it will get to experimental and public testing by month end. However, as there are not many testers I would think waiting for stable is best.
when i first tried this mod out i was setting up my base and there was no Zeds around then faintly and quietly and getting louder i herd that zombie girl sing that rhyme freaking scared the shit out of me i kid you not i jumped a foot in the air
I’m confused why it’s down to modders to fix the game. I’ve been playing 7d2d for about 7 years now. I love it, but why do I need to manually install these mods? I’d happily pay for them as standalone games! I don’t understand why TFP don’t just talk to the modders and include all their work in the game! They’re clearly so much better!
Well, I do think TFP take hints and ideas from the modders. However, yeah, it would be nice to have a steam workshop. TFP's have stated they will likely look into at a later point once the game goes gold.
@@certainwords6400 I think I saw spiders in the desert the most. Virtually never in the forest, and sometimes in the wasteland. The desert has a LOT of creatures.
@@certainwords6400 I think there is around 4 or 5 different spiders. However, the one with the long legs (you can see it as the start of my video), and then one of the hairy ones, they creep me out a bit. At least they are easy to kill.
Thanks for this, SnowBee! I definitely need to explore this mod. I'm concerned about using this mod for videos, though. Copyright issues. Sweet Baby Ray's sauce was just the first concern, the sound effects are another. What's your take on this?
Should not be any concern for a streamer/content creator. Your not playing them.... it's from the game itself. Only mod creator should have any concern but it all should fall under fair use.
Yeah, I know Khaine has the same concerns with some assets created for him in Darkness Falls. Still, I have not really heard of or seen content creators get busted for it with 7DtD.
I remember trying this mod out ages ago and it seemed a bit too clunky (back during A19 I think?). Definitely giving it another go after seeing a lot of that seemingly being fixed!
My only complaints with age of oblivion is they choose very few custom POI buildings to include in their build. Most random buildings from compopack have been disabled. So you end up with a repetative and boring city even if the enemies are "different". You only really tend to notice a difference in gamestyle when it comes to the enemies when you are in the 7th day and you have to deal with flying monsters bombarding you from range. If I knew how to manually add the mandatory age of oblivion buildings like their quest buildings into the traditional compopack I would be happier. Also it felt like total enemy spawns was reduced.
Is this from the new 8k map? If you play the 10k map it has the POI's from the older 6.5. I found that map pretty fun as it had a few POI's that I had never seen before.
Hey Adam OMG, yes... the first time I heard that, I didn't know where or whom it was coming from. It was at night as well. I think that sound effect may play on certain other zombies as well (there is just so many I am unsure), but the "Girl Scout" is one that gives me the creeps whenever she appears in a POI or wherever.
@@SnowBee ya and here i thought the screamers were scary in fact sometime ago i came across that creepy song on youtube in the same exact voice just hearing that coming from that creepy girl reminded me of that and gave me goosebumps and yet i love everything thats scary lol which is something 7 days needs more of is more horror

Nutty professor... really Snow? lol Man, this really feels like someone went "what should we do with our mod" and they answered back with "YES!" Looks interesting though, good video!
Haha, yeah, that was my first thoughts. I never read the journal, or Pipermac's website. I also asked him some questions concerning cloning and all the monsters, but he never responded. So, initially I really thought it was a mess of a mod with stuff just dumped in. However, once I read the story and picked up on that, it all does fit in. So, the cloning and all the monsters is actually part of the story and makes sense from that point of view.
Nice video. I can't find the two Skeleton Overlords. The Temple area by the traders on the mountains just have a few random zombies. I can't find any entrances to what looks a huge inside area.
Hi Julie [SPOILER] On the top of the temple by the traders, there is a place next to the traders, monsters and zombies spawn from that location. Some snakes are below some false boards or whatever. There is a hatch over there. The entrance to the overlords is way at the bottom somewhere, there is a door you go through, and you will know the point once you get to a maze of walls that you can easily get lost in. There is a door at the one corner of the maze.
I think one of the problems with the early game is many of the custom monsters move faster than your regular vanilla zombies. Bugs underground... I didn't know about those. :) However, like the start in Apocalypse Now mod, you can get lucky and with some caution I believe it is certainly doable. Another important thing in AOO that can make it easier, is you can stay in the trader at night or day, and they are indestructible. At night you can either stay there at night fall, or enter it by lock picking your way in after 10pm. From there you can also teleport to your base. So, that can take a lot of pressure off at times. So yeah, my conclusion is that ignorance will get you killed a lot more at the start of AOO than when you know a bit of what you are doing.
@@SnowBee hmn - seems also a bit like - you have to switch to range weapon quite fast - with all this new types and...all this new animals ..animals are mostly way to powerfull and/or have to clunky hitboxes to fight melee xD
@@toba5878 I think you could have a point with melee. Due to the loot at the start, I moved to guns pretty quickly. However, I did use melee around mid game once I had my first skull bought one. I found that I started saving ammo on some monsters with melee. Mainly as horde night I was just using guns the whole and wanted to keep my ammo for then.
Yeah, they are coming, just we have to be patient, unfortunately. These larger mods take a lot of time to convert to A21. Some really good changes are coming :)
Hey Tizona Well, not everyone agrees with you. Many consider it a lazy mechanic. However, I enjoy it, and even the "die hard" Darkness Falls team has added in a testing option that will likely start including more storage broadcasting. I am guessing it will be everywhere sooner or later.
@@SnowBee you're right, not everyone will agree. we can assume, my statement of "it's essentail, has an unspoken "For me" part of my thinking, is a lot of people who do not consider it essential...have not yet played with it. much less on a modpack like Undead Legacy where it's like 5x the grind, and resource demands. to where having storage containers with massive capacities, and broadcasting is nearly as integral. it's one of those things, once you're exposed to it's convenience...it's hard to go back.
Well, it is more than just skills. I think the mod is great for the features that are not related to skills. However, the Oblivion skill page does add onto the vanilla skills very well when it comes to making your stamina and health very high, if you take the time to invest points into it.
Hey Markestep Well, you can often check the subtitles to see. They say I said "fight" and not "fart". So, you could be correct, but it isn't as bad as some things I have said. It won't be the last time either where my accent has been a problem. I have noticed it is only really people from the US that say something. When I say "build", it can come out as "bold", and there are two or three others that I actively try to pronounce different. I tend to try and pronounce the "i" in the word better. Just the other day on one video, someone said my "Dew Collector", sounded like "Jew Collector". In the context, it was rather funny :) Anyway, back to fart. I think someone else also commented about fart some months ago. Maybe it was another video. Your comment sounds familiar, so quite likely someone else noticed that as well. Anyway, let me know if you pick up any other strange words, I do try to fix my pronunciation as much as possible... if I remember :)
Hey Alaskan Okay, I like your comment. I found Joke Mod scary when I played it, but certainly Age Of Oblivion mod was more crazy and "terrifying" to play at the start.
Definitely can't say for sure as I only started the mod about two months ago. However, all story sections are complete as far as I can tell. I only had a problem with a bug on the teleporters at the end. That messed up the story for me, so I god modded my way in the last part. However, the initial 80% or so was fine. I do think a lot of players never make it to the end either due to the large amount of content.
Hey Jayzen Yip, not the first unfortunately. You could try limiting the number of zombies and graphics settings. Also with version 6.5 there is an 8k map, which is also suggested, but not the recommended one. It does work though.
@@leandrogoethals6599 The "easy" way to do this is to make a copy of your whole 7 Days to Die folder. I would just copy and paste the folder into my steam location. However, you can just copy the 7 days to die folder to your C drive, or another location on your computer. Then the mod you want to install must go under a "mods" folder under the same copied 7 days to die folder you made. If there is no mods folder, then create one. Add the mod to that folder. Don't have a mods folder, then another mods folder. Make sure the mod content is directly under the mods folder. I hope that helps :)
Yes, that is if you think strictly about the vanilla game. This is not the game, but an overhaul with a story different from other stories. Think crazy creatures and crazy clones and strange things that happen when you try fix a plague and things get even worse. Same as Darkness Falls, where do demons fit in a zombie apocalypse? They don't, but they do if you play the mod and just try have fun with it in its own context :)
You would need to ask the dev about that, though I don't think enough players care about it :) However, tigers adapt to whichever environment they find their prey. As the most animals are found in the desert, so that is where the tigers are finding their food :)
Yes, imho, a minimum of 16 GB. It is like what DF was before Khaine optimised it the past year. Takes quite a while to load, especially if you go with the recommended 10k map.
@@redstonedad6434 I thought that was related to the server. However, I see he includes "client" and server in that comment. Well, I would still say that 16GB is the minimum and would work, just not as well. 8k map should at least work pretty okay on 16.
@@redstonedad6434 Hmm, I am very interested in your response on the lag you may get in AOO then. It is a heavy game, so I am curious to hear your thoughts on early lag.
Yeah, I have always thought about that, but it is difficult as I don't want to cause fighting between mods. It always happens when you start comparing. Even if you compare from the perspective of features only. Darkness Falls has a lot of depth to progression. Age of Oblivion has now added the quest progression so it does make it better (at least in my opinion). Still, Darkness Falls also has an entire class system. I don't think Pipermac is concerned about revamping all the skills. I will give your comment some more thought... eventually I may get enough courage to do a comparison :)
@@SnowBee I completely get what you are saying, however I think it would be a huge help to new players looking for an overhaul as there are so many of them and it gets confusing, even if that upsets some people
Hey Da Teech :) Yes, without mods it is difficult to get excited. However, even then, there is so much good survival stuff in 2023, that I think 7D2D is going to struggle.

@@dateech3847 I heard quite a few negative things, and stayed away from it. For years. However, I very much enjoyed it once I actually played it. However, I did change some settings and installed about 3 mods to make it a little less grindy for my liking.
Hi Galaxis It is certainly not everyone's enjoyment. I tended to get used to it as time went on. I think one or two of the food related ones really annoyed me, but I then avoided those foods/drinks.
I responded now on the other post :) However, I am part of many discords, so if you want you can contact me from any of the main ones: DF, AOO, UL, AN and JM.
Hey SnowBee, first of all great video! It really made me want to play the pack, the only thing stopping me is the spiders because I have arachnophobia. Do you possibly know if anyway I can remove them from my game, so I can play it without having to worry about losing 3 years off my life? 😂
Yeah, I do understand, you are not the only one that has this issue. I started checking out another mod last night, and while stuck in a POI frantically trying to get out, I heard the sound of a spider trying to break in. It is the high pitched shriek sound I have not heard since Darkness Falls A19 (they were removed in A20). Gave me the creeps. Anyway, Pipermac has stated earlier this year he is not planning on removing the spiders, however, people are welcome to try. Unfortunately, I don't know how to :(
@@mainbreaker1246 Not currently. Has not been the whole of A20, which is version 4. I don't know if they will return either, but there has bee no word for now.
I hope that they will not be swayed by the positive messages, and will continue to focus their work on the ideas they have proposed. Good luck.(I'm sorry for my english but "google translation").
The mode is not stabile. 5 min on ssd to load, random crashes. Some textures are made in paint (some importatn ones like ores).still nice content worth try!
The usual problem is memory. I found out recently that it is recommended between 16 and 24GB at least. 32GB would be better. I don't think it has crashed on me. I did have a very annoying bug later in the game, and as I do spend quite a bit of time on the discord, I don't see people complaining about crashes. Still, you are correct it is a pretty resource intense mod.
@@SnowBee i have 32. of 3200 speed. the game eats 29 gb huge.... 2700x procesor. i reinstalled the vanila game and put agan the mode. it is better for now. this mod is way better-(easy) than darkness falls. love your content.
@@mateidaniel2522 Yes, Darkness Falls is more difficult later on in the mod, while I find Age of Oblivion more difficult at the start. However, Age of Oblivions doesn't hold back with the huge end game POI's and all the massive numbers of monsters you must get through.
All animal carcasses are added to the butchers station, and within time convert to pelts, etc. Are you saying when you get a pelt, you want to convert it to normal leather? The items you get from the butchers station (pelts) are used as ingredients for other recipes.
@@SnowBee Ahh.. I wanted to take the pelts and turn them into the leather used to make things like leather armor. I got a few pelts from a plane drop and i didn't know what to do with them, maybe Ill just sell them then.
@@myysticranger Yeah, you have a point about the pelts being converted into leather. That could be a feature, but as the pelts are rarer, it could make players just "waste" them on plain leather. It is like when I first played 7 Days to Die, I used to keep my gold and silver as I always thought it would be useful later on. Most of the time you are not going to bother with it advanced recipes, and can just sell it.
@@SnowBee lol I did the same. I hoarded my gold and diamonds thinking it was gonna be needed late stage. I still hoard stuff though. @@shiodaku7338 Yeah, at 16GB the mod would certainly be playable. Just performance would be an issue. That means something else is wrong. I am not a mod launcher expert, so can't help you if you are using that. However, with the manual install, it should be just a matter of making a copy of your 7 Days to die vanilla folder, then download the mod, and copy its content into mods folder in your copied 7 Days to Die folder. Then play the 7daystodie.exe file from that folder. At this point, I would suggest downloading the mod again. Also, make sure the sub folders under the mod folder are in the mods folder. So don't have a "mods" folder, then another "mods" folder that you copied from the downloaded zip file.
Does that fire mod catch cobblestone block on fire? I was watching a streamer the other day playing Rebirth and the guy lost his entire horde base and all his loot inside also. I could of swore it burnt down his cobblestone parts of his base too.
No, only wood. I tested with cobblestone before, and it did not burn cobblestone. I have not tested in Rebirth. Maybe fire is adjusted to burn cobblestone as well, I don't know. That would be a bit harsh, though.
Okay, I fired up Rebirth. I created some blocks of concrete, cobblestone and wood next to one another. Only the wood burnt. I also burnt down a house and only the upper wood areas burnt. Rebirth I see also has a setting for it to enable/disable fire burning blocks. With it enabled, it still only burns wood. As a side note, I find it interesting that the fire does not burn hay. Anyway, I hope that helps :)
@@SnowBee Hey thanks for looking into that! Prolly have to try that mod out now knowing its just woods blocks. Yeah you would think hay blocks would be the first burn or break.
@@stewdad11 Well, you can switch it off if you want, though there is no setting in Age of Oblivion for that. Just let stuff burn, or as I suggested in my AOO Beginners guide, run away and return after 2 or 3 minutes, and the burning should have vanished. :)
@JadeRain Hans Yes, Zombies do burn. However, for a large building, each burning block is a breaking block. Each breaking block leads to screamer heat map increases. So, a burning building could bring in a few screamers over time.

It is, just be aware of the RAM requirements... the dev suggests more than 16GB.
I got lucky and found a bat tumbler key on day one before i even hit the trader, and i found it by searching a bat tumbler so free car. getting gas was a bitch though i broke down so many cars it is not funny.
Yes, those day 1 keys do happen. I still love my "toilet" jet, however. I think it is easier to get lucky with obtaining one of those :)
The amount of meme's sound are really really annoying.
Hey Pendulum
I have been avoiding that, but you never know, I just may do it.
@SnowBee As a new player that's the video I want to see the most I hope you give it a go

Hey Anthony
Yeah, I hear you. It has a lot of additional content, however, the core game is still there. So you will still farm, cook, fight monsters in the same way... just you will not get bored soon as all.

Thanks for the nice words, I appreciate that :)
True
That was an EXCELLENT fast overview of the overhaul!
For anyone wanting to check out this overhaul, make sure to have a base with a LOT of space and rather high ceilings if you plan to use/checkout all of the workstations!
Hey Emerald
You read my mind! Yes, it is one thing that I would do different from my last playthrough, and I certainly will have that in my beginners guide. It was only once I started doing stuff with the cloning did I realise I underestimated the space required in AOO. Good point!
Hey snowbee. Your thumbnail is what lured me here. I have played this before and enjoyed it, though never completed the story.
The story is pretty long, I think a lot of players don't complete it. However, I hope Pipermac does not nerf it. It is a pretty good story with a lot of supporting POI's and content.
Well done snowbee. I enjoyed the beginning, didn't even notice the video was actually pretty long. 😁😁🤣
Glad you enjoyed it, to the end, lol :D
I genuinely appreciate your thoughtful response, thank you
That's very cool you play with your wife, I tried getting my wife into 7D but it didn't quite take...she's much more of a console gamer.
Oh yeah, Sealand base. You've taken a base in something formerly British :P
Also it was interesting to still be able to find your voice in the intro...
Yes, that is my voice. :)
Along with my video where I got my daughter to do the intro (which I will never do again), I was quite uncertain and anxious about how the whole intro would go this time. Do something weird, and it could work, but sometimes it fails.
@@SnowBee Thank you, I'm trying to not be an uninteresting majority :)
Yeah, strange things is my kind of thing and it was interesting to see that POI in the video.

The loot crates have been nerfed since this, but the crates are still in the main quests that you need to follow. So, doing the missions will still bring you your loot. Farming, also still has loads of stuff.
Hey Snowbee, thanks for the great guide. The mod is installed the same way as darknessfalls right?
Yes, all mod folders go under the "mods" folder in your root 7 days to die folder. Same as Darkness Falls :)

lol, yeah, been busy with RL work. I am hoping by the weekend. This is one mod that would likely do with some guides. The journal is pretty good though.
the only slight annoying part of this mod are those specialized sounds when eating stuff, or some of the zombies sounds.
Yes, for me the drinking of water is annoying. However, the dev says that one of the reasons he left it like that is to get people to try start using other better forms of drink. Overall, most of them I don't mind. The fat bastard one can be very long... with the farting. Maybe that one can be annoying. :)
god, i cannot recommend the advanced cloning chambers enough! once you get enough of them, you can turn any horde night into cheese night!

Thank you for this I have been looking for an overhaul mod and these "what is..." vids are the best
No problem 👍
Thanks Templar, I will keep them coming, just a bit slower now with all the various other survival games :)
if you had to pick ... this or DF.... what would it be?
The only major bug I had was near the end of the story with one of the teleporters. It messed up the last part of the story for me, and I know it is something that some others have experienced. However, I don't think many make it to the end of the story as it is quite long.
Not yet completed....buy very close! It has come a long way!

@@SnowBee 🤣
Thanks for this SnowBee. Just a question, how heavy on the RAM usage is this mod? Would really like to try it out
Hey Renata
It is higher than most mods, pretty sure of that.
Hopefully GNS will play this mod.
You never know, he will likely get around to it sooner or later.
Are there new building blocks in AOO?
No, not really. Very standard vanilla stuff. Same as mining which I didn't bother saying anything as you get the same resources like vanilla.
There are some different "rocks" you can mine on the surface, they are rare, but I never even bothered to use them in my playthrough. However, you can mine them with a pickaxe same as other ores.
I might have to do a series on this mod. A complete storyline is what is missing from Vanilla and most mods
Yeah, I think its story is one of the better and is quite logical.
Two different story techniques, and they both work: Darkness Falls leads you through the story, while AOO tends to give you the basics and sends you out to explore and discover the locations.
Awesome video SnowBee, as usual.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks Marie :)

How stable is this playing with friends?
I know Arenas are not working on a server currently. Otherwise it should be fine.
Have you watched my version 7 patch info that came out a few hours ago? It changes quite a few things, mainly from a story and skill point of view.
@SnowBee thanks for the quick response man! I'll check your vid out.
I'd say the only thing missing from this mod, that was almost instantly brought to mind, is the BFG 9000.
Would obviously have the be the endgame weapon, either for or after the final boss.
Would also probably be a whole lotta coding to make it obliterate everything in its path.
Haha, well, the end game area is quite small... will be interesting to see how the player's survival would be taken into account :)
Then again it may not need to explode I guess.

The version for A21 is going to be even better. Quite a few changes. :)
@@SnowBee will it be out in a few days/weeks? If so I can just wait it out
@jigglie8077 it is going to take a while before stable. I do think it will get to experimental and public testing by month end. However, as there are not many testers I would think waiting for stable is best.

Yes! She is really creepy.
Thanks for this! After I finish my current playthrough, I'll do another with this mod. Hopefully that'll hold me over until A21.
Yeah, they have really delayed a long time. I would not be surprised if they hold over at least another month.
I can only look on in envy and despair waiting for console update and these mods goddammit
Yeah, you and a lot of others. I think many mods will likely get a lot of console users pouring in hopefully by the end of the year or 2024.
TFP's have stated they will likely look into at a later point once the game goes gold.
i hope the moders make animation for food, mides and weapons
As always, excellent video. Will test this mod out.
Hey Bernt
Have fun! :)
i love the looks of this mod, but the real question is
is there spiders
The real answer is yes, yes, and yes. :)
@@SnowBee I’m heart broken
@@certainwords6400 I think I saw spiders in the desert the most. Virtually never in the forest, and sometimes in the wasteland. The desert has a LOT of creatures.

@@certainwords6400 I think there is around 4 or 5 different spiders. However, the one with the long legs (you can see it as the start of my video), and then one of the hairy ones, they creep me out a bit. At least they are easy to kill.
very nice video my friend
Hey Tomy, thanks very much for the visit :)
@@ThePipermac Thanks! I may need to embarrass myself publicly in a few videos after I get the mod figured out. 🙃
Yeah, I wasn't around then for it, but I can see it has come a long way. I wouldn't say clunky now, but it is resource hungry.
That little girl one is utter nightmare fuel omg!
Hey Adam
OMG, yes... the first time I heard that, I didn't know where or whom it was coming from.

Nutty professor... really Snow? lol
Man, this really feels like someone went "what should we do with our mod" and they answered back with "YES!" Looks interesting though, good video!
Interesting, it really has Fallout type vibes to it.
Nice video. I can't find the two Skeleton Overlords. The Temple area by the traders on the mountains just have a few random zombies. I can't find any entrances to what looks a huge inside area.
Hi Julie
[SPOILER]
On the top of the temple by the traders, there is a place next to the traders, monsters and zombies spawn from that location. Some snakes are below some false boards or whatever. There is a hatch over there. The entrance to the overlords is way at the bottom somewhere, there is a door you go through, and you will know the point once you get to a maze of walls that you can easily get lost in. There is a door at the one corner of the maze.
First i thought it was elder scrols related.... damn was i wrong.... this looks great
Certainly does for a 7 Days to Die based game. :)
hmn - if you have a bit practice - how hard is the mod?
can you actuall play no death runs - or is it more on the "notfair" side? xD
I think one of the problems with the early game is many of the custom monsters move faster than your regular vanilla zombies. Bugs underground... I didn't know about those. :)
However, like the start in Apocalypse Now mod, you can get lucky and with some caution I believe it is certainly doable.
@@SnowBee hmn - seems also a bit like - you have to switch to range weapon quite fast - with all this new types
and...all this new animals ..animals are mostly way to powerfull and/or have to clunky hitboxes to fight melee xD
@@toba5878 I think you could have a point with melee. Due to the loot at the start, I moved to guns pretty quickly. However, I did use melee around mid game once I had my first skull bought one. I found that I started saving ammo on some monsters with melee. Mainly as horde night I was just using guns the whole and wanted to keep my ammo for then.
this mod amazing! really hope for more updates :D
Yeah, they are coming, just we have to be patient, unfortunately. These larger mods take a lot of time to convert to A21. Some really good changes are coming :)
Great Showcase Video for an A+ mod!! =))
Hey DA_Blade
Thanks! 😄
Thanks for the kind words.
This looks kickass! I hope my friends are willing to try it out with me lol
Hey Tulsy, definitely. There is a 6.8 update coming around very soon, so you may want to wait a few days as it may require a restart.
this is enticing, but when you said storage broadcasting was built in, I'm totally onboard. it's essential, now.
Hey Tizona
Well, not everyone agrees with you.
Oh man, this looked insanely good until you mentioned the skills being very similar to Vanilla.
This is a deal breaker for me :(
Well, it is more than just skills. I think the mod is great for the features that are not related to skills.
However, the Oblivion skill page does add onto the vanilla skills very well when it comes to making your stamina and health very high, if you take the time to invest points into it.
So, am I the only one who thought Snowbee was saying that he didn't think the animals would fart for you? @9:43
Hey Markestep
Well, you can often check the subtitles to see.
In the context, it was rather funny :)
Anyway, back to fart. I think someone else also commented about fart some months ago. Maybe it was another video. Your comment sounds familiar, so quite likely someone else noticed that as well. Anyway, let me know if you pick up any other strange words, I do try to fix my pronunciation as much as possible... if I remember :)
I think this is is the one mod I would call “terrifying”
Hey Alaskan
Okay, I like your comment. I found Joke Mod scary when I played it, but certainly Age Of Oblivion mod was more crazy and "terrifying" to play at the start.
is it just me or did age of oblivion just show up on alpha 21 page of 7mod launcher
Yes, I think end of September it was added, however, just the experimental. Stable is likely coming in the next week or so.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! This is definitely a must-play mod!!
Enjoy! Yes, it is very unique, and even though it has so many different things, it is very playable and pretty easy to get into.
@@SnowBee Hahaha, was loading this as you were typing!!! I can hardly wait to play it.
oh? is this mod perfected now?? last time i tried this it has still plenty of unfinished things
Not yet.... but much closer... it is almost complete.
The silly voice lines from popular media kinda ruin this
Yeah, some do not enjoy the comments. Others do enjoy them. I guess many also just endure them.
With all that amazing stuff it would drop my FPS to a crawl.
Hey Jayzen
Yip, not the first unfortunately. You could try limiting the number of zombies and graphics settings. Also with version 6.5 there is an 8k map, which is also suggested, but not the recommended one. It does work though.
Where can i download the "fire mod"?
You can get it here for Alpha 20.6/7: 7daystodiemods.com/fire-mod/
I don't think you will get an Alpha 21 yet.
@@SnowBee Ah do all mods break with each update?
@@SnowBee do u have any tutorials or simple steps how to get those working?
@@leandrogoethals6599 Yes, however, it seems that the A21 changes are particularly challenging. So some mods are claiming as late as September.
I hope that helps :)
this mod seems to add things that look completely out of place within the game
Yes, that is if you think strictly about the vanilla game. This is not the game, but an overhaul with a story different from other stories. Think crazy creatures and crazy clones and strange things that happen when you try fix a plague and things get even worse.
Same as Darkness Falls, where do demons fit in a zombie apocalypse? They don't, but they do if you play the mod and just try have fun with it in its own context :)
14:17 assasin from The Witcher? Hell yeah! ;)
Hey Jogi, yes you could be correct :)
Is there maybe a modlet that reduces the wacky out of place sfx etc?
I don't believe so. The overhaul is the whole package. The mod is wacky, but it is what you are signing up for. :)
why would a tiger be in the desert. its needs to be the snow or forest lmao
You would need to ask the dev about that, though I don't think enough players care about it :)
However, tigers adapt to whichever environment they find their prey. As the most animals are found in the desert, so that is where the tigers are finding their food :)
I want to try this mod but it requires SO much ram
Yes, imho, a minimum of 16 GB. It is like what DF was before Khaine optimised it the past year. Takes quite a while to load, especially if you go with the recommended 10k map.
@@SnowBee really I thought their discord said a minimum of 24 gigs of ram... I have 16...
@@redstonedad6434 I thought that was related to the server. However, I see he includes "client" and server in that comment. Well, I would still say that 16GB is the minimum and would work, just not as well. 8k map should at least work pretty okay on 16.
@@SnowBee well you've convinced me to try it!!! I tried play war of the walkers and it was SO laggy

In terms of content it sounds like this mod gives darkness falls a run for its money. I would love a video comparing all the overhauls

Not at all we couldn't do what we do without tfp providing the core tht they do.

How do I turn the pelts into USABLE leather? All I get is a track option and a vague description.
All animal carcasses are added to the butchers station, and within time convert to pelts, etc.

@@myysticranger Yeah, you have a point about the pelts being converted into leather. That could be a feature, but as the pelts are rarer, it could make players just "waste" them on plain leather.

Looks like a fun game but it didn't work for me maby it isn't ready for 20.6 stable
Hi Shiodaku
It is for 20.6 only. It is very memory intensive. The dev says more than 16 GB. Instability could be from lack of memory?
@SnowBee thank you for answering it wouldn't play at all my memory is 16m maby I downloaded it wrong.
@SnowBee I will do it again like you said thank you for your help
Does that fire mod catch cobblestone block on fire? I was watching a streamer the other day playing Rebirth and the guy lost his entire horde base and all his loot inside also. I could of swore it burnt down his cobblestone parts of his base too.
No, only wood. I tested with cobblestone before, and it did not burn cobblestone. I have not tested in Rebirth. Maybe fire is adjusted to burn cobblestone as well, I don't know. That would be a bit harsh, though.
@@SnowBee Ok I prolly just imagined it then lol thanks though.
Okay, I fired up Rebirth. I created some blocks of concrete, cobblestone and wood next to one another. Only the wood burnt. I also burnt down a house and only the upper wood areas burnt. @@stewdad11 Well, you can switch it off if you want, though there is no setting in Age of Oblivion for that. Just let stuff burn, or as I suggested in my AOO Beginners guide, run away and return after 2 or 3 minutes, and the burning should have vanished. :)
My friend and I use the AoO mod and we freaking love it
