Robert and James Stirling not only constructed reliable and fast steam locomotives (up to 85 mph in the 1870s!!!) they also constructed (arguably) the most BEAUTIFUL ones. The Stirling locomotives aren't just masterpieces of engineering but rolling and steaming PEACES OF ART!!! I love it! 😍
The Stirling is one of my favourite steam locomotives - you need a photo with someone either standing on the footplate or next to the engine to give you an idea of how big those driving wheels are!
this might be an ignorant statement but WAVERLYJOHN feel free to correct me. did they really put the engine on a lorry just to turn it around... hasn't the nrm got a turntable i mean after all the vast majority of their displays are steam locos...
@@WAVERLEYJOHN LMAO don't ask why it's taken my 5yrs to see this. Thank you for the info man! I didn't know there was no turntable at the Shildon location, I dunno why I didn't catch that this isn't York, I mean it says Shildon in the title lol.
You know, I can never understand how all trains are considered "Female". Let alone any sort of transportation. This... This is a different story, however. She is too beautiful...
The considering modes of transportation as females thing was because in the days of exploration boats would be often names after a love interest of the captain and since the captain would be male the boats would be named after girls

So true
Hey come people don't call it the emerald angel anymore

Now I drive this beautiful machine on train simulator. I love her.👍❤️🚂👮
I've always thought it to be the most beautiful locomotive ever built
NO DOUBTING THAT! And the Big singles like this were FAST too not so much off the mark but they could run 80--90mph.
me to :)
I think Emily would find that offensive
"Be careful Diesel!" Said Emily "Don't go so fast!"
"That's what she said!" Diesel replied.
Love to see it run.
What a beautiful locomotive. They don't make them like that now!
Emily from Thomas and friends
Love those classy-looking fenders over the drive wheels.
Oh hi Emily
What exactly is the work needed to allow this loco to steam again. And what approx cost ???
I'm not sure but it was built in 18 or 17; 20 I think I'm not sure
Hallo John .Ja eine schöne Maschiene , manche hatten noch eine Klingel am Tender !
this might be an ignorant statement but WAVERLYJOHN feel free to correct me.

hornbytrainsets Yes they used a lorry to turn it round they don't have a turntable at Shildon NRM
@@WAVERLEYJOHN That's just fucking dumb. Build a turntable you idiots!
@@FutureRailProductions stfu, there's no reason for them to build a turntable, so why should they?
I would have thought to hire a mobile crane. But I guess they don't want to risk dropping a priceless museum piece.

wait why didn't they use the massive turntable this normally sits in front of?
There is no turntable at the N.R.M. Shildon
What’s that diesel doing..? Where is it taking her..?
its the last of her kind
Emily's the last of her kind too?
Still in disbelief that the forklift truck can push this amount of weight...
Look is Emily and diesel

I mostly call a lot of trains a he. Locomotives I call boys.
Because most men are not gay.
Ships were also all considered “female”

Because we don't want to be inside of a guy...
emily!
What a faff ! Why not just go backwards ?
its Emily!

That looks like Emily
@Captain Smartass Sucks!
