So advanced looking somehow, yet so elegantly victorian. What a wonder. What a GREAT addition to your layout!!!
    Thanks for sharing...

My dad always said Patrick Stirling's mantra was 'form before function.' The distinctive large wheel at the front gave it a modern look(imo). As a relative of Paddy,I really should have one(and the Miles Beevor engine). I'm going to need a larger room(!).

FUN FACT: Emily from Thomas & Friends certainly happens to actually be completely based on this fine steam-driven railway tender locomotive!!!!!!

    Hello Matt,
Last night I've first watched your video of your review on the Rapido Trains Stirling Single No.1 Locomotive, that was wonderful, I love the details and running performance is flawlessly.
I really adore the GNR Stirling Single 4-2-2 Steam Locomotives especially No.1, I've seen her a few times at the National Railway Museum in York.
I cannot wait to get myself this one soon, but I have to be quick, because there are going to a limited number of these models left on sale at Locomotion Models.
Onces again, a wonderful review of the Rapido Trains Stirling Single No.1.
I cannot wait to see her running in future videos including double heading with the Great Northern Atlantic No.251.
    5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
    2 thumbs up 👍👍
    &
    11/10. 😁

I have to agree. 11/10 for the engine aside, she is beautiful in her own way, I have something to tell you. Last week, I went on the craziest Chester Model Shop shopping spree you could imagine. Aside from my first haul of a Milk Float Van, a Chocolate & Cream Mk. 1 Restaurant Car (for Rood Ashton Hall's Shakespeare Express Train) and a pair of HAA Hopper Wagons, my second haul went madly overboard. For £235, I bought Dapol 00 gauge 2-6-0 Mogul Tender Engine (Great Western Green with BR number-plate) 7301, two Bachmann Manor engines (7800 Torquay Manor and 7802 Bradley Manor), Hornby Tiny Terrier Tank Engine Leadenhall and Electrotren Tank Engine Molly. All were tested and ran like a dream. Dapol's GWR Mogul is the best model Dapol itself has ever created. I highly recommend the engine to you, she's everything you could ever dream of.

Good to see the proper large tender after so many years. It makes the loco look really powerful and business-like. My Dad used to go to bed as a child when he heard the big drivers slipping as they started out of Humberstone, Leicester, having been 'put out to grass' by the GNR.

Matt Slade, the round metal etched parts are designed to represent the rather large axle end on the main drivers. These can be glued into place using UHH or similar paper card glue. Remove the circle carefully from the fret using a sharp knife or etch clipper, then glue into place using a small dab of adhesive in the centre of the part. You'll notice that we've included some spares in case one or two turn into flying saucers....quoted in instruction manual bottom of page 6,drawing illustrating this is in top right hand corner of page 7.

When you get yours - read the brochure first! There is a lot of information about the model and how it works and what to do. It also has a quite humourous tone to it as well - especially "IF YOU DIDN'T READ THIS BIT FIRST!" When fitting the splashers to the bogie area I found that they did not fit due to the cylinders being about half a mil too long. A quick (and careful) trim with a sharp scalpel soon sorted it. An excellent model and well worth the four-year wait from ordering.

Agree with your conclusion, Matt. This sets the bar so high....can't wait for the carriages and whatever locos they produce in future.I'd like a Victorian crew for that footplate!

I would like to see Locomotion Models produce the Stanier 3 cylinder 4MT and LTSR Class 79 via Hornby next year because since I am considering doing a layout of Southend On Sea and Southend East in the days of the LMS in the 1930s in 00 Gauge and since I am an admirer of former Love Island contestant Megan Barton-Hanson myself I would have the layout built for her to remember me by.

  • @cliffleigh7450

If ever a model needed a footplate crew this is it. And why didn't they just make it with a 6 wheel tender drive and save the complicated gear train?

  • @warrenlehmkuhleii8472
    @warrenlehmkuhleii8472 6 лет назад +1

I would buy one but being 15 I can not afford that I mean I only make $10 a lawn. Also I am not sure I would be able to maintain it. Oh well I can still dream. And I give the review a 11/10 too.

Looks stunning Matt & I love the runaway tender, but the price is very steep even for a limited edition. I would not like to guess how much of a mortgage I would need to take out just to afford a rake of the matching coaches.

Matthew what a very lovely GNR Stirling Single I also agree mate I give 11 out of 10 and there was a black blank before it head before the footbridge and it soon re cover after a little wobble on the curve overall I can only say 1 word LUSH. James Joseph JJ Dyer

Maybe worth pointing out that the prototype had holes drilled in the dead centre of the front end buffers. I am not sure why. This model doesn't.

Took over an hour to connect tender to loco, including straightening bent connecting pins, managed to break footstep. loco then ran with tender front wheels up off the rails. put it back in the box very disappointed. wish i could send it back. it needs a better method of connecting tender (a proper drawbar) yes it looks superb. but fit only for a display case.

Mathematically if you limit your scale to 10. Then saying it is 11. Makes no sense Lift your parameters if you going to do this. It’s like saying 110%. of something
