- **Episode 24**
In this episode it is time to get the new transom assembly bedded down onto the deck of the boat.
I begin the task by making a start on the bulwark stanchion blocking, which are pieces of oak cut to fit against the metal stanchion brackets and the bulwark planks. these set the bulwark planks at the correct distance from the sheerline creating a fair curve running around the edge of the deck.
I then move onto bedding the transom knees and transom boards.
Finishing up with with giving the whole transom a few coats of 50/50 linseed oil and white spirit to slow the timber shrinking and checking.
if you enjoyed the video, please give it a thumbs up, it's the best way to help the channel grow!

Jethro Tull of boatbuilding! Outstanding musical taste!
Really engrossing. Keep showing us the detail of your craftsmanship and keep providing a succinct commentary.
Well I'm impressed. ❤
Finn! Great work! That music was fabulous.
Love the way the transom looks well done starting to really take shape.
Love your choice of music!!!! Especially 5 string banjo!!!!
Glad you're feeling better and back at it. Great work so far!
Great episode
She's going to be a beaut when you finish her!
That looks remarkably like a Colchester Smack.
I left Colchester for Australia fifty years ago and those smacks and Thames barges are on of the things I miss about the UK
Very similar, she’s base more on an Essex smack being deeper and not such a flat bottom.
She's looking great now. Awesome job Fin!
Great music to go with great content and craftsmanship!

Good idea leaving the stanchions alone. No sense in re-doing everything and getting bogged down. Transom looks amazing.

The work, music selection and video editing are all top quality.
Cheers for sharing the process!!
Great Job Find your tube very interesting
Good stuff Finn
Handsome Transom!!
I think that those bulwark supports would be pretty close to what was on the original boat.
It was a working boat after all and strength was the first consideration.
Really nice work 👍
Great work Finn Maith thú
Looks great man !
As a retired wood shop teacher( they dont do that any more) I would have been honored to have had me as your teacher so you could have taught me a thing or two!
Great progress man!
Looks great.
Hi Finn, you are an inspiration, big project for one person, love the way it is coming together, stay strong... Eamonn
Thank you, that’s so pleasing to hear, really means a lot. Ahah indeed it’s a fair one. Not sure I realised the extent when I began, but we’re getting there!
All the best
Superb, Flynn! Oh, and I like your choice of music, too, btw!
Your young. Probably caught omicron but it will kick anyone's but. Glad your well and recovering.
Really enjoyed the soundtrack on this episode Finn. Great work as usual. Don't forget to give yourself a little time to ramp up after being down for a while. Take care, stay well and have a great week ahead.
really enjoy this channel Finn
Looking great Finn… glad you’re recovering from the bigV. Cheers mate. 🇨🇦
Good luck - enjoying the progress.
Beautiful work. I'm glad to see someone using good hard sappy pine (I assume it's pine?) It's a fantastic wood. Also I hope you made that gap at the base of the transom big enough for your phone to slide through! 😁💦
Great work as always... well done!
You learnt well from Leio and it is starting to show in the detail your going in to. Its along road to the splash but i know you will get there and have a great boat as well always keep the dream alive
Fantastic work as always Finn, I enjoy your channel very much.
Beautiful! I really like watching the work without too much talking...

Just saw your channel on Sampson Boat Co. when you were helping with Frame Raising 1 and 2.0 Great work!
Nice job, as ever. I always have a great time whatching your videos. Wish you a full recovery.
Thank you, that really means a lot! Appreciate the kind words 🙏
Good stuff. Glad you're feeling better. The video editing and quality have been great😁
You sure can see that Leo has had an impact which is ace to watch grow.
Your videos have improved so much along the way. Your boatbuilding is great as ever. I don't care for the metal stanchions either, but that's too much to change, I agree. But they must be solid, otherwise you'd have replaced them, I reckon. What a pretty stern!
Great video Finn. Your skills with editing are improving a lot. Keep up the good work young man.
Just watched all your video's because I have covid too nice work🙂👍
