Jay & Amber, you'll Love his "You're the First, the Last, My Everything", "Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up" and "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby"!!!! Philly soul
Yes to all of them. And I would add Love Unlimited's Walking In the Rain With the One I Love. You Hear Barry's voice near the end. Also I Belong to You by Love Unlimited. One more suggestion, Loves Theme by the Love Unlimited Orchestra.
Definitely yes to all of the above, great recommendations. I've still got two of his Love Unlimited Orchestra LP'S..... all orchestral and if you love strings, you'll love it.
Yes, he is amazing - his music is great! I got married with one of his songs - first dance or whatever it was ! I couldn't choose a song , but I knew it had to be Him :)))
I was at the gym a few years ago, on a bicycle and talking about music with the younger guy on the bike next to me. He had never heard of Barry White. A 40ish woman was walking past and I caught her attention, "Hey, you have heard of Barry White, haven't you?" She replied in a normal speaking voice, "Yeah, sure." "Good makeout music, right?" Her voice dropped an octave and she smokily replied "ohhhh, yeaaaah."
Bedroom Barry. From his 1994 album, The Icon Is Love, this was at Number 1 for 3 weeks and became a gold record. Barry was in jail at 16, for stealing tires, and heard Elvis's It's Now or Never and this inspired him to turn his life around. Barry sexy tones are so recognizable and satisfying. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️ ❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Jay and Amber...this immensely talented man is not only only known for his baritone voice; but you can call him "maestro". Check out his earlier work with The Love Unlimited Orchestra, particularly the LIVE VERSION of "Love's Theme". FUN FACT: This song was also the theme of Soul Train for years! Here's a little background: The Love Unlimited Orchestra was a 40-piece string-laden orchestra formed by American singer Barry White. Their biggest hit was 1973's instrumental single "Love's Theme". The track, written by Barry White, went to number 1 for one week in the US and number 10 in the UK.
He wasn’t a great conductor but he looked great and kept time well. Heck the orchestra Barry assembled were first rate and probably had it down on first sight. That was one big sound.
Love his voice. My favorite song is "You're The First, The Last, My Everything". And "Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up", "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby" and "I've Got So Much To Give" are awesome too.
Barry was also an orchestra leader. He lead the Love Unlimited Orchestra. His wife was one of the backup singer, she also sang in the group he produces named; “Love Unlimited”, one of their hits was “Walking in the Rain With the One I Love”. I believe it was their biggest hit.
Barry White’s catalog runs really deep. True greatness indeed! My favorite from him is “Playing Your Game Baby” that you might wanna check out, but this is just the beginning as far as how many great songs he has.
We were so lucky to have had the opportunity to see Barry White Live ! I finally got to see Barry White at a Kiss Cares concert at Madison square Garden with Isaac Hays as the MC also appearing with the Gap Band !
Barry's voice used to get so many women 'hot' that he would make all of the higher pitch talking dudes try and throw their octaves way down to impress their women, LOL. Fortunately, I never had to try because I have a voice deep like Barry's myself. My wife LOVES it when I talk to her in her ear. ;) :D
Yes, finally back to The Maestro, and a song I suggested. 👍🏽 Barry said he went to bed one night with the voice of a child, and woke up the next morning with a baritone voice that scared his mother and him. He said puberty hit him hard when it came to the voice change. 😄 I suggest again... "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up" (also remade by Lisa Stansfield who adored Barry) "Ecstasy, When You Lay Next to Me" "Wildest Dreams" (duet with Tina Turner) "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More"
Jay & Amber, you guys said you haven't heard any other *sensual soul* artists. Well have I got one for y'all to check out. Mr. *Teddy Pendergrass* he pours it on thick like *Barry White.* Here's some of *Teddy Pendergrass's* songs *Love TKO, When Somebody Loves You Back, Close The Door, and Turn Off The Lights.* The music is on point as well as his vocals. *Love ❤️ Peace ✌️ and Happiness 😃 Y'all !!!*
Good evening, Jay and Amber . A great reaction should be by the Ojays. They are the quintessential 70'' R&B band A great reaction should be "A Stairway to Heaven. OMG SOOOO GOOD. THE ADDED BONUS THEY HAVE APPEARANCE ON SOUL TRAIN 👏 👌 Awesome performance
Does anyone remember those amazing episodes on Ally McBeal? Groovin' in the restroom!!!!!! (depending on where you're from washroom, loo .......)🤣🤣. Oh, oh when Barry White performs at the bar!!!! Dang, what a great show!!!😄
One of my favorites by the maestro, Mr. Barry White listen to his song The Right Night from his return Grammy album of the same name is a hidden gem as well as We won't know until we try, please check them out . You guys should do Johhny Gill's 1st hit Half Crazy. he did it when he came on the scene at age 14.
If you both liked this song, I recommend you to listen to "Dark and Lovely" next. He did this with Isaac Hayes (he's known for the theme from "Shaft"). These legends are iconic for their voices in these '70s. That's why they earned their nicknames of "The Maestro" and "Black Moses," respectively.
Watch out, Jay. By the reaction Amber was having to this song, Barry White will have you in the middle of making baby number 4 before you know what is happening. Her reaction was perfectly described by that 'Slap your Mama spice' comment she made afterward. My own mother was a fan of the Big Maestro from the time his first album came out way back in the 2oth century, circa 1973. The song was, NEVER, NEVER, GONNA GIVE YOU UP. And then, a few years later, on her birthday, she heard YOU'RE THE FIRST, THE LAST, MY EVERYTHING, our record player grew arm weary of the same record. My favorite was HONEY PLEASE, CAN'T YOU SEE. But just remember to dole this music out in small increments. Or you'll be looking at baby number 5. Enjoy
Not only is Barry "Baby-Making Music", he's identified that way. I've seen TV shows where people are trying to "set the mood", and it's almost always Barry on the stereo for that. (Kind of waiting for a seduction scene set to Talking Heads or The Who or what have you, lol)
Hi Jay and Amber! Can you guys react to "Strawberry Letter 23" by Shuggie Otis? The Brothers Johnson cut a version of this song that was more popular, but Shuggie Otis was the original. I personal suggest that you listen to the "One Rascal Extended Remix" version of the song. It is fire, and jamming. Thanks :)
2 for 2 today, Yall. Whose pickin these non-hits? Just not for this boy. Still here for ya just not feelin it, but still luving ya anyway. I'm outta here. See ya next time, your Southern boy in Gatlinburg, Tennesse. Go with God. Peace.
Barry White is dead, for years now.... and them women would dig him up and still give it to him... every time a woman hears him they lose it... husband's be glad he's gone... cuz wifey would be gone... they'd be practicing what they preached
You have to listen and do a review on these Barry White Songs , Your Love is so good I can Taste it , Bring back my Yesterday and Extacy when you lay down next to me , It May be Winter outside but in my heart it’s Spring sung by Barry’s wife Glodean with Love Unlimited , You’ve Changed sung by Jay Dee , Just as long as we’re together in my life there will never be another sung by Gloria Scott alternate Version . Please listen and play these songs on your show . I know there’s a lot of songs on here but these are the best !
I owned this album " The Icon Is Love " on cassette, played that sucker to death. Every song on that album could have been a hit. It was a refreshing, updated version of Barry when this came out. A real treat for fans.
Barry White is soooo cool just simply extraordinary, I would love you guys to hear Marvin Gaye! ...Lolz I noticed you've already covered M.G he's sooo goood!
Check out Barry White duet with Lisa Stansfield- All Around the World. It’s sultry and sexy as hell. Seen them both live. And together the chemistry is hot
His wife, Glodeen was also a singer, and she did a really nice slo jam called “Walking In The Rain” (with the one I love ) that also features some spoken vocals by Barry.
There is another side to Barry White you need to explore. He was also a brilliant composer. One of his best song is an instrumental called Love’s Theme with his Love Unlimited Orchestra. A must listen.
Quincy Jones put his magic for collaborating and bringing together diverse voices including Barry White on the song "Secret Garden." Quite a few people you have reviewed are on that one song. You would both love it.😉🔥💕
I was fortunate to grow up with The Maestro, Barry White and Black Moses, Isaac Hayes. Both great musicians, singers, writers and producers. R.I.P. Soul Men.

The Maestro, Barry White. So much good music came from this man and the unique sound he created with his Love Unlimited Orchestra and Love Unlimited.
