He's gotten so much better as a passer it may not lead to a direct assist but it does lead to points

Yeah, just reading the double and putting the defense into rotation leads to so much easy offense for the guys around him.

Exactly man, he may not be fancy and put up assist numbers like Jokic, but his improvement in reading the defense and make the quick decision, quick pass, it usually leads to points by the other guys. Underrated af.

This is the biggest area Joel and the Sixers have improved this season, for most of Embiid's career this type of defense worked well because he wasnt a very good passer and there wasnt nearly enough shooting around him

Last year, Embiid made a comment about how Toronto doesn't care about winning, just shutting down the opponents star player. And it seems like the Nets are trying to do the same thing. Their strategy hasn't worked in two games, and they aren't even trying to disguise their coverage. You can't just double immediately upon a catch a 7 foot guy who can pass over you. Hopefully they try something else in the next few games.

Thanks for this! I know now that I aint alone on thinking the same about this playoff matchup.
Im literally rewatching Game 2 now and been thinking the same thing since Game 1. They kinda messed up with the turnovers and missed many 3s this time but Brooklyn's game plan is quite similar.
I think Harden needs to look to score more. Im sure he still has it in him if he really wants to put up 30 every night when Embiid is being played with such a defensive coverage. If Philly wants to beat the Celtics, they gotta find ways on getting buckets without having to rely on Maxey putting up 30 every game and them shooting the lights out.
That team in Boston is probably the only thing standing between them and that Larry OB.

Honestly I would still send doubles and make him give up the ball if I’m the Nets. Let Tobias Harris kill me im fine with it. I think the most important thing about this is playing the mind game and frustrating him. He’s noticeably upset in G1 yk just keep pissing him off and he might start to force a lot of things that’s the Nets only chance defensively
