    the move where Embiid picks up his dribble with both feet off the ground and then planting both feet down with back turned to the defender is called the "windshield wiper" move that MJ started doing in the 90s which gives the player freedom to go both directions for a fade away or hook shot.

      Seriously! It is a joke how the game is called these days with defense. Back then if an offensive player initiated contact into a defender it was an automatic foul. Joel would be fouling out in most of his games with the way he plays.
      I think it was 2yrs ago when I saw Joel get a call against the Nets when he flailed backwards just past the free-throw line into a defender, and launching the ball into the stands, and called a shooting foul. It was a joke. Think he had like 10-15 free throws that first quarter. The 76'ers ended up losing.

    Hey Coach, speaking of Wilt, could you please make a video detailing just how skillful he was with the patented fadeaway and finger roll. There is this misconception that all Wilt did was play like Shaq, even though if Wilt ever thought to post up with that intensity, he would be called for an offensive foul every time. There are videos on here of Wilt where he literally does free throw line pull ups just like KD, only this was 60 years ago. 2:17 - 2:45 is just a bad missed travel call. Embiid gets away with an illegal advantage there - if you play basketball and try this move yourself you'll see it's easier done if you plant your left first like Embiid and take that extra step, than the legal way of first landing with two feet. It's because you get to use the momentum from launching off your left foot to get better separation from your defender, and you'd have less momentum to work with if you initially landed legally with two feet back to the basket.
    Good vid but I had to mention this.

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  9 месяцев назад +6

      I mean, I pointed out that it’s a travel…. If the refs were some sort of AI robot that could interpret 1/30th of a second. But when a jump stop is that close in real time, they’re within their right of interpretation to deem both feet landed at same time which makes it legal

    • @Walrus286
      @Walrus286 9 месяцев назад +2

      It happens so fast that you can’t make that call. If you play basketball and YOU try this move, it’s done at a quarter of the speed and you’d clang the ball off the front of the rim or have the shot blocked.

      that travel will never, ever, ever get called man stop lol. Given the travels that are let go in the league nobody is calling a travel on a jump stop because they didnt use the foot that came down a split second before the other as their pivot. And that's if a ref is able to even see it occurred anyway, at game speed it's not really reasonable to expect a ref to reliably pick up on that

    Hey Coach Nick. I just got League Pass at the beginning of the NBA season for the first time. I have watched more games than I have ever watched in past years (usually watch the Warriors and Lakers for local and national games and Suns and Thunder for national games). I thought the new rules this year with non-basketball plays and offense or defense penalized for trying to create calls would cut most of the flopping out of the game. But this is not the case in my opinion. I just feel like standard for what is and isn't a foul is now extremely inconsistent. The flopping, exaggerated movements to create calls, and leeway for the offensive player to jump into the defense to get a call is making NBA more and more like the few pro soccer games I have seen where every player is acting, exaggerating, and flopping to sell any and all calls they can. There are so many bad calls where the refs are fooled into calling fouls where I can clearly see from my tv at home are phantom fouls. Between 3 refs in person, everything they see in Secaucus, and studying NBA player individual tendencies, how can they get so many calls wrong? Please, please, PLEASE could you do a video on this? The acting is so prevalent right now, the ESPYs should give out an award to the NBA player who sells phantom calls the best! Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
