Been following the Cult since 1973. Can never get enough of the "slashing guitars" between Eric & Buck during this song. Another good one could be MC5's "Kick Out The Jams". BOC released their live rendition on "Some Enchanted Evening".
The original will always be king; it's not just the quality of the composition but it's also a reflection of a unique time. BOC are probably better overall musicians, just listen to how BOC's rhythm section is locked in and they have the extremely under-rated Buck Dharma on lead guitar as well. If you want to get another view of how BOC interprested Born to be Wild, check out their studio version, it's much more sedate than what they did live.
Blue Oyster Cult is one of my favorite bands and they do an excellent Born to Be Wild, but it's Steppenwolf's song, and nobody has taken it from them. I wish you would have clicked the Workshop of the Telescopes version, as it's also live, but much, much cleaner (still not as good as Steppenwolf.)
since you did a song by Steppenwolf how bout a song called Steppenwolf Hawkwind - Steppenwolf ruclips.net/video/TlRKOF_iZzA/видео.html not about Steppenwolf but about a wolfman/ man wolf
haha awesome, thank you for the recommendation...ive added it to my list...think i might of heard of hawkwind - did they do silver machine? (i think thats what its called?)
You can hear 10 different songs by BOC and would swear it is 10 different bands. Their music spans an incredible breadth of styles.

I like both
Do yourself a favor and explore the music of Blue Öyster Cult. They're like a treasure waiting to be discovered!
Definitely prefer the original 💕
Steppenwolf all day, every day for me!!!
This is a classic that I always associate with the Vietnam war 💕

BOC and Roadhouse Blues on the ETL album is awesome..Robbie Krieger joined them on stage for that one. Buck Dharma kicks serious ass!
