Reading Books on iPhone: This is why I Switched from Apple Books to Amazon Kindle App

Apple updated the Apple Books app in iOS 16, and sadly to the worse. There is a lot of stuff that are broken now, and I also realised that you are terribly locked-in when buying books in Apple Books. In this video I try to explain why I switched to Amazon Kindle App when reading on my iPhone instead.

Yes, these are good points.
I like reading from my phone sometimes because of how light it is. I can set the font quite small over black background and even without a lamp on, my eyes don't get tired easily.
It's good that we have the Kindle app option. Even if you have to buy the books from the web browser...

You cannot read sideloaded manga/comics on the kindle app (unless it's pdf), it forces ugly borders on all sides of the display (amazon use the border to display page number and all that nonsense which cannot be turned off), meaning the pictures cannot be maximized to fit the screen. While apple books maximize the pictures to fit the screen.

Apple should never have updated their Book app like that.
It is a disgrace to make people spend so much money and then block them with loss of functionality without no respect for their clients whatsoever

I don’t know really. I have never published a book. But why not? You have the right to earn money on which platform you want with your own written book.

@jamess5542 no they don’t. Maybe you mean drm protected books? DRM protected books only works for the device you have bought them from. So if you buy a book in kindle store it only works in kindle. If you buy a book in Apple Books it only works in Apple Books.
