This is the “album” lineup with their original singer, Jerry “Atric” Castellanos, who was out of the band and Rudy Navarro joined in time to record the SST album. They recorded another demo in 1989 with “Not Me,” “Bombs Over Iraq” and “Think Hard.” the album lineup also recorded another demo in 2009 with re-recordings of “Not Me” and “Think Hard.”
Highly underrated, and mostly forgotten L.A. Hardcore/Punk band. Mandatory listening for punk historians, and fans of early 80s SoCal punk who weren't alive back then. Thaks for sharing and posting.
Never forget. This demo rules & the Lp is still fucking mind blowing to this very day… Wish they’d get their due, should be a no brainer to mention Stains with ALL the early L.A. legends. I wanna read a book on East L.A. and the history. The Vex!!
The Stains lp which was released in 1983 was actually recorded in 1981 and was supposed to be released in 81 but SST put it on hold because Black Flag's Damaged was released in 81 and SST were afraid the Stains might recieve more attention than Damaged.
There's a really good book on the history of SST, Corporate Rock Sucks; the author documents how in the early years stuff was held up for release forever on a regular basis - sometimes even after the group had broken up! The author also has a lot of praise for these guys, especially Robert Becerra's guitar playing.
@@phillipford2216 And for a good reason. Greg Ginn clearly got inspired by Roberts guitar playing. You could hear the influence in the very first song of the Jealous Again ep. Ginn mastered it eventually I think.
@the gamer punk, the only one I saw was included on a bootleg cdr-comp, that also had 2 more live tracks...no demo stuff, but had the Cracks in the Sidewalk comp. track "Sick and Crazy." Much luv an respect for Stains... This needs repress if ever was something needing repressing! Big thanks to the poster! Great channel♡
The reason why Jerry quit the band because him and Robert took Roberts mom's bf truck for a joyride and crashed it and that dude was from White Fence gang,so Jerry got spooked and disappeared according to what Robert told me....he had teeth like Darby,Jerry did
I was their bass player when Ceaser quit from June 2010-2013
I was BLOWN AWAY when Robert lent me his only copy of this that they recorded in his old garage back then...THIS IS A CORNERSTONE OF L.A. HARDCORE
I am beyond jealous. Robert was a fucking killer guitar player. I can’t even afford the record 😂
Imo the greatest band in us hardcore history that not enough people know About
I don’t disagree, they are one of the best in my opinion
AGREED
This is great! Bought the Stains lp in 83 with the SST order form inside my Black Flag 'Jealous Again' EP! Great fucking times!
I remember that order form! I found this in my local shop back in 83… 1 copy and I snatched it up and never looked back

First song is called Bombs Over Iran. They re-recorded it as Bombs Over Iraq around 1990.
Thanks Chris! Will update it 👍

I like these demos a lot. But I don’t think it does justice for the guitar as it does in the SST classic.
