I put out the Cryptic Cross recordings on my tiny CDr label maybe 13 years ago - 50 copies that we sold mostly thru Aquarius Records in SF. I still have the master files and original art on a hard drive. My favorite songs were Vampire Mansion and Living On The Surface. Stik was totally unique and, like you said, hilariously funny. A true artist with a vision that pulled him further and further toward the edge as time went on. I remember his amazing paintings of hellscapes and voids full of demonic aliens. His art was disturbing but it was clear that, on some level, it was true. This was offset by what a funny, sensitive person he was. He turned me on to a bunch of extraordinary music and movies. He was always digging around in the dollar bins in the basement of Rasputin and one day he showed me his sticker-switching technique. Or I would run into him in Lhasa Karnak on Telegraph, all deckout out in crystals and skull rings, talking to the witchy girls who worked at the counter. As time went on he became more and more disconnected from reality and we fell out of touch, which I regret. Rest in power, Stik. You were the true King of The Underground. I hope you're in a better place.

As always, DC hardcore puts a big ol smile on my face! I don’t care how you choose to live; and admittedly, it took me a long while to fully appreciate straight edge. Seriously, I just recently started diving full speed ahead into the straight edge sound because I am still not at 51. Much respect from Southern California

I think Iron Cross and YDL (Youth Defense League) from New York were basically the earliest American Oi! bands.....Patriotic Oi! in America started out of American hardcore music and carried on with bands like Anti-Heros, Arresting Officers, The Press, Forced Reality, and Stars and Stripes among others.
