This is the game that got me into pinball video games. Before that, I found them boring, but there's so much going on here that a real pinball table doesn't have. The music, graphics, gameplay, and everything is absolutely perfect. I've only played the Genesis version, but I've heard the music from the PC Engine version and it's quite good, though not as dynamic as the Genesis version with its high-frequency synthesizer.
Love this game 😃 Actually Dave from Game Sack introduced me to this game by requesting me to remix the main table theme. I then bought a copy of Dragon's Fury and I play it all the time 😃 Best 16bit pinball game if you ask me 😅
@@batmandx GS rules 😃 Have you checked out my album I made for Joe & Dave by any chance? It's called: Joe & Dave's Great Eight. Eight retro tunes requested by those guys with the Devil Crush theme for the BIG final track 😃
I know you know I already like this one a lot but it really is one of my favorite old video game pinball games. Just has all I can want from one. Still don't really prefer the PCE/TG16 or JP MD (or Dragon's Fury, the changes to it kind of annoy me why I usually only mention the JP version) more. Still I would have to go with the PCE/TG16 as the one that's better, usually do, it is the original then was ported over. Anyway, can tell I have nothing left to say about it by now right? Another good review Jim, nothing really I can't go with you say for it here.
Somehow you sound a bit biased towards the PC Engine in this review. This, or a certain lack of experience. Anyway the Mega Drive port is not "smushed" (if that's what you said) but it actually has correct aspect ratio thanx to the system most used resolution of 320x224 pixels while the PC Engine port runs in the system most used resolution, 256x224 pixels, and sadly this makes for everything to look stretched once displayed in 4:3. And graphically the main table is more colorful and "cleaner" on PCE but several details have been improved on MD but the huge difference comes with the rest of the game, from the title screen to the bonus tables and even the ranking scren which have all been reworked and look much better on Mega Drive. Then you claim that the codes on MD are a pain in the butt or something but I don't see why not to mention that there are more of them on MD including some which allow for different new BGM but this you didn't even mention. And since we're at it, sound wise IMO the soundtrack sounds better on Mega Drive, SFX are on par but there's a slight advantage on PCE about the voices since they don't cut the music unlike on MD (despite that the MD can handle music+SFX+voices at once as can be heard in other games but not with the sound driver that Tecno Soft used). The gameplay has also been improved on MD, some tables are more challenging and the sense of progression is better too (the bonus table order is more coherent). Also this version has been expanded with an exclusive final table which comes along with a true last boss but this, you didn't mention either. The Mega Drive ending also has been slightly expanded with a pretty cool hint... So overall the Mega Drive port is the best version of the game IMO but you can't go wrong with the PC Engine original either, both being some of the finest pinball action that video games have to offer. As for your review, as you can see it was rather lacking and as a fan of pinball game, I think that you could have done better ;) (btw never tried the beer that you showed, gonna try to find some! (huge beer fan here too, mainly belgian beers but not only))
@@batmandx I hope the beer won't be too hard to find where I live. Also now I wonder what was the lowest rating your ever gave in a review and what was the beer that came along with ^^

Zane Gandini fair, both songs have their upsides I feel but you really can’t go wrong either way

That’s awesome, huge GameSack fan here. And I agree it’s probably the best 16 bit pinball game by far
