You are welcome! And, thank you for watching......I have more coming up I am about to do apples really soon. Oh my! They are delicious!!!! Have a blessed week!!!!
Nice to see you again my friend, I've missed you! We had some storms move through and we have been without power and Wi-Fi for 4 days. I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you, God bless you my friend🌻excited for the canning videos.
Do you hydrate it when you cook it. Busy day here, made cookies that are time consuming for a after funeral thing and they are supposed to be crispy, it was very humid here, would not stay crispy, so the next day it was dry and I ran them all through the dehydrator, it worked great. Started a batch of W sauce for my brother's birthday, tired of him complaining he is out. I love that chopper, you must have had a huge garden a few years ago, I can see even more squash in the background. Hope your garden is growing good, been raining here and I will never complain about rain after last year. Hope your weekend went well, take care Gay.
I re hydrate in a little moisture at the time....unless I am putting it in soup.....then I just drop it in. WE have always had a huge garden...really 2 big ones. The deer have become such pests that we can't grow much outside the fence. they eat it all ...I mean ALL. My little backyard garden is thriving. I am thankful. Gonna do another tour soon.
Just what I needed to get all my squash preserved. I got about 6 crates of squash and it's early season for us in Sand Hollow Idaho. I guess I'll be hauling some to the food bank for others too. I'm new to you and am enjoying the visit.
Sand Hollow Homestead thank you so much for watching. Please subscribe and share😄😄 I also have a video .. why are my bread and butter pickles yellow.... making them with yellow squash. Delicious. Check it out. Also. A delicious squash casserole recipe. Copycat Olive Garden. 😄😄. Have a blessed week! So wonderful of you to share your bounty. I love to give....
I always enjoy your videos, always! I have been on the fence about a freeze dryer because I have read about problems with the pump, oil changes and the touch screen locking up. Your video gives me hope because I have really been tempted to purchase one. Thank you again for a wonderful video. I hope your family is well and things are moving forward for all of you.
I have had my freeze drier about a month. Not a single problem. It runs nonstop trying to freeze dry as many things as I can before things get worse in our country. Don't hesitate based on other people's statements.
My freezers are full. One with side of beef, one with odds and ends one under fridge with odds and ends. Stuff we use . Don’t have room for more freezers. Bruce wants a freeze dryer. So we may get one soon. Tfs.
I love when you show freeze drying your produce! I looked at those freeze dryers a few years ago, but they are quite pricey, so even though I’d love to have one, it probably won’t happen😢 Do you ever buy frozen fruits and vegetables and then freeze dry them? Thanks for sharing😊 God Bless🙏
Commercially prepared frozen vegetables are the easiest to freeze dry. Pour them into the trays and hit the start button. Costco's corn is a family favorite. For the first time yesterday I did rotisserie chicken. Crazy texture but it rehydrates beautifully. Milk is another great thing to freeze dry. It tastes so much better than commercial powdered milk. I'm a freeze drying maniac.
Yes, It is necessary. I dont really know the science of it all......but....I follow the recommendations of folks smarter then me. lol You have a blessed day, my friend!!
I was given a ton of yellow squash. My question is what do you use it in? The only thing I know to do w/it is add it to like a Normandy vegetable medley. I'd really appreciate some ideas.
Whatever you put it in....it will take on that flavor . My aunt used to boil it....strain...mash...season and add a thickener and make a pie. You'd never know it was in there. Also, dehydrate slices ....you can add a little seasoning....then use as low calorie chips. I also sautee onion until caramelized....add sliced squash...cook down....season....it is sooo good. You can take this mixture and add bread crumbs, an egg, grated cheese.....bake and make squash casserole. I have a video on making a casserole..look it up
@@kathyatkins8153 yes.....sorry, I didnt check to be sure all the letters registered. This computer is so aggravating. I can type really hard....and it doesnt show up. Thank you for the correction!!!
@@ApronstringsGayJordan I wasted a lot of time today with blanching. What would you recommend blanching for freeze dryer. I guess the concern of some are enzymes on produce that won't come off w/o blanching, and hurts flavor? That's what I read.
@@ApronstringsGayJordan I think you lose flavor blanching. Do you blanch when you can: hot water bath or pressure. What do you like the most with your use of your freeze dryer. I had no clue how many hours foods take. Eight hours to over 50 depending on product and humidity. That slicer/dicer machine you have is not at the store you mentioned, but they are available: very expensive now and one blade, as you said, come with it.
@@christyl.phinnell6822 if the ball canning book advises blanching… then I blanch. I follow the safe canning guides. The freeze dryer is a total different concept. The rules change 😄. It does take a long time per load😳
I just love this channel my friend thank you for showing us

Pammie Doodle I sure do. Especially corn. I get the organic sweet corn from costco. Green peas too.

We are looking at getting a freeze dryer. On the fence between the Med or large
Go with large. If you’re gonna run one get all the good you can.
How did you vacuum seal the jars after you put the squash in? Did you also put a oxygen absorber in the jar? Thanks!
I have a vac master chamber vacuum sealer. I do use an oxygen absorber. You can use any vacuum sealer.....

What is the product number for your Nemco chopper? There are several choppers for that brand. Thank you :)
I don't know but mine is the nemco easy chopper 2
How do you use these? Have you tried snacking on them?
I refresh them and use in casseroles or soup. And as a snack like a chip. Great with dips…. Less calories 😍😍
Would you mind sharing the name of the town near you that has a tea room? You mentioned it in the past but I can’t remember
Lisa Choudhary Navasota Tx ..... Martha’s Bloomers It’s a plant nursery, gift shop, tea room. Right on Hwy 6.
Everytime I put my squash in a mylar day it does soft have you had the same issue? In the jar it keeps fine
In the jar it stays crisp. I haven't tried mylar
Did not catch the name of this chopper. Could you post it and the link on you to order it?
It is called Nemco chopper 2. I got mine from etundra.com
How do you re hydrate and use it?
You add a little bit of water....shake it around...add a little more until it is the texture you want
Do you have a link to where you bought the chopper?

Not if you freeze dry them.
