    Do you hydrate it when you cook it. Busy day here, made cookies that are time consuming for a after funeral thing and they are supposed to be crispy, it was very humid here, would not stay crispy, so the next day it was dry and I ran them all through the dehydrator, it worked great. Started a batch of W sauce for my brother's birthday, tired of him complaining he is out. I love that chopper, you must have had a huge garden a few years ago, I can see even more squash in the background. Hope your garden is growing good, been raining here and I will never complain about rain after last year. Hope your weekend went well, take care Gay.

      I re hydrate in a little moisture at the time....unless I am putting it in soup.....then I just drop it in. WE have always had a huge garden...really 2 big ones. The deer have become such pests that we can't grow much outside the fence. they eat it all ...I mean ALL. My little backyard garden is thriving. I am thankful. Gonna do another tour soon.

    • @sandys.1891
      @sandys.1891 2 года назад

      Commercially prepared frozen vegetables are the easiest to freeze dry. Pour them into the trays and hit the start button. Costco's corn is a family favorite. For the first time yesterday I did rotisserie chicken. Crazy texture but it rehydrates beautifully. Milk is another great thing to freeze dry. It tastes so much better than commercial powdered milk. I'm a freeze drying maniac.

    I was given a ton of yellow squash. My question is what do you use it in? The only thing I know to do w/it is add it to like a Normandy vegetable medley. I'd really appreciate some ideas.

    • @ApronstringsGayJordan
      @ApronstringsGayJordan  2 года назад +1

      Whatever you put it in....it will take on that flavor . My aunt used to boil it....strain...mash...season and add a thickener and make a pie. You'd never know it was in there. Also, dehydrate slices ....you can add a little seasoning....then use as low calorie chips. I also sautee onion until caramelized....add sliced squash...cook down....season....it is sooo good. You can take this mixture and add bread crumbs, an egg, grated cheese.....bake and make squash casserole. I have a video on making a casserole..look it up

I had no clue how many hours foods take. Eight hours to over 50 depending on product and humidity. That slicer/dicer machine you have is not at the store you mentioned, but they are available: very expensive now and one blade, as you said, come with it.
