Freeze Drying Butternut Squash

- Welcome Budget Buddies!
Today we are freeze drying some butternut squash that was leftover from our 2022 garden. We processed them for over 50 hours (due to our schedule) and they turned out perfect! I love using freeze dried squash in soups and casseroles. This helps us save money and budget for other things throughout the year.

Beautiful job freeze drying your squash.. We have a few butternut squash left from last year but we don't have a freeze dryer.

I will say my freeze dryer was the best investment I’ve made. Can’t wait to use it to preserve all the crops from this season.
I have canned butternut squash in small cubes before as well so maybe that’s something to try.

Great question for the small and medium units no,
The large units need to have their own breakers but it’s still a regular outlet.
We have the medium size unit and have many items on the same breaker and have had zero issues.

So when you suck out the oxygen it does the little bag as well
