How long will the jars last on shelf ?
5-8 years
Cool idea for camping or road trips, or even bugging out. For long term storage though, finding and having a reliable water source should be first priority.

The link doesn't appear to be working. I tried to copy the recipe as you gave it, but some of the measurements were not there and no directions for how much water needed, bake time and temp.

1/4 cup sour cream powder 2 tsp chicken broth powder salt & pepper to taste 1/4 cup cheese powder 1 tbsp freeze dried onions 1/2 cup cream of chicken base soup (my recipe) 1/2 cup broccoli or mix veggies of choice 1 cup orzo pasta 1 cup freeze dried diced chicken Add to wide mouth mason jar and seal when read to cook preheat oven to 350 degrees F Boil 4 cups of water Add jar mixture to a 9x13 casserole dish, and add the hot water. Let set for 15 min to reconstitute the freeze dried items. After 15 min cook dish in over for 20-25 min stirring at the half way point.

What oil can be substituted for lemon essential oil ?
It can be omitted entirely But something in the same family citrus wise Lime Orange Or Tangerine oils
