After this aired there is now a banner on the Reeves site “due to increased order Friday the 17th shipping is delayed 14 days”. What a great way for the TPS community to support an epic legend of a builder. Placing order via link now
Good to see rainger fx get some love and appreciation. I have the drone rainger and the bleep and I love them both to pieces. Such incredible pedals from an amazingly interesting person! Thanks TPS for spreading the word about these pedals, they're so underappreciated.
You both deserve some sort of major award for pronouncing Oregon correctly. All the more deserved being as you're both furiners. Lots of Americans can't even get it right.
Spaceman Effects is an incredible builder, and the customer service is excellent. I have four of their pedals: The original versions of the Saturn V Harmonic Booster, Aphelion Harmonic Overdrive, and the Sputnik Germanium Fuzz, as well as the Mercury IV Germanium Boost. The Saturn V in particular is a great tone enhancer, and if you use it for a long time your clean tone will sound flat and dull when you turn it off. It's one of those "can't live without it" pedals for me. I haven't yet had the chance to compare it with the Saturn VI but I'm glad they're making a more affordable version so everyone can have access to it. Amazing stuff!
Brilliant show, as ever! Normally you help me make better-informed choices about pedal types I want. Today you taught me to want things I never knew were there to be wanted! You guys are the Santa's Elves of Pedal Christmas, which is a weekly event. Many thanks!
TPS a great 'rut buster.' Opening playing a perfect example of how being open to new pedals or designs opens up your creativity and approach to playing. Same for some guitars, amps or playing with different people. TPS. That Progression Show. Thanks Again.
Saw the live: Once, twice, five times a Pedal (and I love you. Optional) - 5 Steps to heaven - TPS (Insert appropriate day here) Hi-Five - Pedal Intelligence PI5 - Loved the vid. Fantastic you trying out and turning up the volume on talented, creative builders and companies you have discovered and enjoyed. Be interested to see if any nice surprises put themselves in the mix for your boards.
Man- I lOVE the format for this show- more pedals is always great! I am so excited to see you guys try out Rainger pedals as they have been popping up in my instagram a lot lately. Saw a video on the minibar and I thought- man, TPS really needs to get their hands on this! It's bizarre, but you gotta give Rainger credit for bringing something totally unique and new to an otherwise well trod pedal type. At this point who would have thought you could do something so different with a simple overdrive pedal. And I love that you guys have multiple pedals from a company- to showcase the company's range. Just great. I'd love to see more - endlessly more of these. Well done!
The pedal demos are a small part of why I watch your videos. The interaction between Dan and Mick along with the conversations are what I enjoy most. 🙌
From the US, Jetter Gear. BRAD makes pedals that have an amp like feel under your fingers. He's a fine guitarist who's experienced in amp building as well. Well worth investigating.
Hey Dan & Mick, I just ordered a Reeves Electro 2N2Face! I'll bet y'all have helped him sell a goodly amount of those today. Love and appreciate the show!
Awesome video, as usual! Two pedal builders you guys should definitely check out are Aura Amps (Pete Thorn has demoed some of their pedals) and Deep Trip Pedals (Josh Smith’s BOG), both from Brazil. Cheers!!
I have both of those Reeves pedals and can't decide which is my favourite. They're both amazing. It's definitely worth taking the time to remove the base plates and gaze upon the component to component circuitry too. Works of art.
Looking at this comment, I almost didn’t watch this. I have finally found a Fuzz I like, and really don’t want to go through that journey of pedals again. Damnit, I’m still going to watch.
Hey Dan and Mick! Just wanted to say, love the channel! Thank you so much for the time that is put into the videos, I may only be 16 but I learn so much from them! Also, as always, awesome playing
Hi Dan I noticed that the Tsakalis 6 was a brief contender for your pedalboard at one stage and then like that, it disappeared! I've always wondered what your reasoning behind that was as I have looked at this pedal myself for a number of years.
Old Blood Noise Endeavors makes great, outside-the-box pedals. Love to see what you guys could do with their stuff. You guys have done their more common circuits, but one of their more odd combos, like Excess (Distortion/Chorus/Delay) or the Visitor (modulation pedal) would be really cool to see on the show! Also - Fuzzlord Effects. Drone/Sludge Metal enthusiast making great fuzzy distortion circuits.
Mondegreen delay is the best pedal purchase I’ve ever made (twice... and I still own them both! 😛), but I do also own the Dark Star, Procession and Dweller. I’m a bit of a fan! 😬 To be fair though I don’t think that OBNE have quite made the same transition out of the States into the consciousness of guitar players over here in the UK as other “quirky” brands like Walrus Audio or Earthquaker Devices have. Not sure why, I think they’re right up there, but I do kinda understand why TPS haven’t featured them that much.
I just bought my first germanium fuzz and first Spaceman pedal, Sputnik III and i am blown away. Just absolutely perfect for me. I love it so much!! I really want to try more of their pedals. The build quality is fantastic.
It is such a brilliant idea. Even better, in my opinion, is the “mash” foot switch on TC Electronics Flashback II. Dramatically more efficient than having a separate expression pedal for your pedals that have expression options. I wish more pedal companies had something like the “mash” switch.
Commenting right away with one you may not know: Paradox is a small Mexican builder and I bought his Futura chorus which is an excellent BBD chorus/vibrato (it has a dry/chorus/vibrato mix knob) - but the real killer part is the addition of an envelope follower that can control rate, depth, or both. Andy did a great video about it for reverb, I think Dan especially will love it because it has CE-2-style warmth and then the envelope unlocks all kinds of creative possibilities.
Be great to see some more Alexander Pedals on the show, they’re doing some very interesting and oddball designs. I have the Quadrant on my board (4 in 1 delay with expression control and presets) - I’m impressed with its modulated “Magnetic” and Lo-Fi delays with analog dry-through 🤓
I came here today, and my first comment was going to be, "Let's get Tomokaz Kawamura and Bjørn Juhl on the show to talk about the One Control product line."
I agree entirely , Bjorn is a legendary builder and amazing bloke . . I also think Pete Cornish needs to be on the show . Until they feature those two there’s a massive hole .
There is a great scene of German pedal builders, I really recommend checking out. I am a big fan of Vahlbruch, OKKO and Orion Effects. But there are lots more.
Some of those Rainger pedals sound like "turn your guitar into an awesome sounding analog synth." He really is a brilliantly creative and interesting guy. Thanks so much for doing a show including Rainger - great work guys. (Matt from over the pond)
You'll have a great time if you make it out to Portland guys! I was born there but prefer living in the mountains for the boating, fishing and skiing. Cheers Mick and Dan!!
have yenz tried the Dunlop Billy Gibbons Siete Santos Octavio Fuzz Pedal it has been a total game changer for me I think it's a great pedal. Thank you for all your inspiration you guys are great
This episode was fuzztastic, this was a great idea to highlight lesser known pedal makers/brands. My favourite was the Rainger Dr Freakenstein Chop Fuzz, absolutely stunning sounds and it looks so incredibly insanely different, so damn cool, great episode and super playing by Mick & Dan :)
this is great! I like to two boards in one show vibe, and I love when you guys get outside your comfort zone and just geek out on stuff (with tangents of course) good stuff!
You should try the Pedal Pawn Fuzz. They also do a pedal called the Texas Twang. Both Stevie Ray based pedals. I have the fuzz and its amazing. Cleans up so good for a silicon Fuzz. Eric Gales uses it. Can go super loud as well.
You did see the Macari's is closed up and moving out of London? End of one era, start of a new one. Please do something on a future show about their new digs, please!!
Dan, a JuJu came up on reverb and I snatched it up! Still did 18 schematics this weekend on a TB1.5 with a fet input buffer and no feedback direct coupled and inverter supply. All the parts coming in this week.
Featuring PigDog stuff is just a tease. Steve makes so few pedals that only the most vigilant/lucky of buyers are able to acquire one. No wonder I can't get another one, Dan has them all!! ;-)
Jon Vecellio I count my blessings - have 5 of the juicy morsels. Glorious bricks of loveliness. The Destruction Department is basically Chernobyl in a box.
That Pedal Show fudging Fernackerpants and fudgcakes.......there's nowt wrong with my iPad and Sennheisers but mayyyyan this is the episode to hear through a sound system. Foooooooooooooooffffffing Hada!
Consider SolidgoldFxs they have a new Quadflanger mode on their Oblivion pedal and many more gems like the Lysis, Communication Breakdown MkI and MkII Tonebender in one pedal.
Awesome, guys. You should definitely do this more often. It would be nice to see other Fire pedals, besides Carpe Diem, like Sweet Chilli. In another topic, I would like to see you test some affordable tube amps, like the Laney Cub or Lionheart. Watching TPS is saving my life during quarantine, I have been reviewing the oldest videos and learning a lot about the secrets of a good tone. Thank you friends.
I used to play that trumpton theme to warm up my coldplay, that took me back to happier times Mick, the chording behind it was a bit involved too as I remember.
Love tps while mick and dan both plays guitars very well it’s never a competition they enjoy what they play but mick playing great or not so great in his own terms his face remains with no emotions while dan shows every emotion on his face that comes out of his guitars lol in this video when he is playing six just loved the express value anyway great show guys and send me free T-shirt and few stickers for the best comment:), stay safe and keep informing and entertaining us through these tough times for us touring musicians
Thanks Frnk. It is a horrible truth that I hate pretty much 92.6 per cent of what I play, hence no emotion. For the remaining 7.4 per cent, I smile a bit. :0) Mick here. ;9)
I managed to order one of Reeves' 183 Fuzzes, looking forward to it arriving! Got an Antares from Tate FX last week as well. Now just need a decent amp to play them through!
I really like this type of show, would love more "lesser known" brands as an ongoing thing. Maybe a vlog series of trying out pedals you haven't had the chance to play much of before?
Rainger FX = instant movie soundtrack tones. Also, the Gemini IV took me to school on “scooped mids” vs “pushed mids” in fuzz tones. I thought I knew but quickly realized... I didn’t know.
A) not directly linked to this particular episode and B) probably requested multiple times before, but: if you guys published a signature delay pedal (with possibility of handling a line-level FX loop, should one desire to use it so) with someone, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Great episode btw.
Damn I love the shows where you just try hips of pedals, these Reeves are going to sold out real quick for sure. Some nice small builders you could include in a future show: Champion Leccy, Mask Audio Electronics, Electronic Audio Experiments, KMA machines,...
Punch Pedals by Rod Ardent. Killer. Killer HIGH GAIN overdrives! The Scott Dalhover Signature pedal just slays. 2 footswitchable gain stages, and a 3 way midboost toggle.
I watch a lot of pedal videos and somehow hadn't heard of any of these guys except the minibar. Thank you! I'd like to recommend Dr. Scientist pedals for future considerations. They are from near where I grew up, and make very interesting stuff :-)
Mr. Black, also from Portland OR I believe. CooperFX, named for the builder's dog and master of low fi VHS reproduction. On that note, Demedash also worth checking out. And Mid-Fi Electronics.
Another inspirational episode guys , that mini bar pedal is nuts 👍 love seeing how enthusiastic and how much fun you guys are having ,because...........TONE 👍😀
I can recommend Bob Burt hand made pedals, Florida USA, He makes the Allan Hinds AH -1 signature overdrive with built in compressor. And the GR8T pedal with several compression presets. Kind of Dumble boutique sounds. Fat and harmonic tones. Good purchase if you can find one
Great show guys, really digging the Saturn VI.... I don’t recall you guys ever featuring a Death by Audio pedal on the show, maybe you can consider them for future installments of this series. Either way, love the concept! Cheers!
Mick at 35:43min you said that one struggle with Fuzzes is tha lack of Dynamics. I agree but only when a Fuzz gain knob is cranked. Fuzzes can be very dynamic tone machines when one lets some headroom available. The sustain and nuances with Fuzzes surpass overdrives any day of the week imho.

he just got some big advertising, what do you expect
Those were the BEST sounding pedals for sure!

Fairfield Circuitry- everything they do is amazing!
Yes!
Oh yes!
This! Their compressor is always-on on my board, and that ring mod is really something else...
Yes. A thousand times, yes. I want to see Dan plug into the Shallow Water and watch his mind be blown.

The Minibar, I wondered if you'd get one in!

Great idea for a show! Nice to see the "Little Guys" getting some deserved love.
Mick squeezed out some beautiful tones from the Six, loved it.
All the 6 degrees fx pedals are point to point too. It's a thing to behold really, opening up those enclosures.
Brilliant show, as ever! Normally you help me make better-informed choices about pedal types I want. Today you taught me to want things I never knew were there to be wanted! You guys are the Santa's Elves of Pedal Christmas, which is a weekly event. Many thanks!

100 times yes for Fuzzlord. Jason is the man!
OBNE reverbs always leave me in a state of wonder. They're a little one-trick pony in some aspects, but they're all highly musical.

Malekko, Mr. Black, Catalinbread, Subdecay, Pettyjohn are all from Portland as well.
Pettyjohn is in Bend, OR. Stephen Pettyjohn is brilliant and super nice at the same time.
Subdecay is soooooo good.

You may have seen some of our previous videos? Strats and fuzzes with the guitar volume turned down is where I live!
