Sound advice as always, Wayne. I haven't personally had bad experiences with flight aggregators but know there are horror stories out there. Skyscanner is usually my starting point for flights but I usually check with airlines directly online as well. Safe onward travel!
Loving the Perth vlogs and interesting local dialogue ! Dave is an interesting fellow. Some sage advice on using third party travel agents too. Thankfully not had any issues just but yet but I’m certainly going to be keeping your advice in mind.
Wayne, thanks for interviewing the woman with tats and piercings. I would have avoided her at all costs. I struggle with people like her. But I’m trying. Most I have seen in interviews are decent people.
Surprised you didnt know Barong, my first trip to Bali the figure barong made a big impression so much so I had to bring back an intricate wood carving barong as a souvenir. It is such a recognizable image
Hi W, re travel agents-I haven't utilised them for a very long time. Flights and hotels I always book direct. With regard to long term accommodation in Bali, I have a "Balinese brother," who has been a godsend for many things, including procuring accom. I would never use an agent in Australia or Bali. As you suggested, head over for a couple of weeks, decide on the area you want to stay in, and locals are only too willing to make recommendations. Many places will have a board at the front(often in Bahasa Indonesia) offering accommodation, usually at a fraction of the cost as what you would pay if you utilise an agent. Another great video, as usual 😊
Hi Ida. the other advantage of course by being there on the ground is you're able to check for defects or obvious problems with a place. You're so lucky to have a family member to help with these things. Cheers.
Selemat Sore, Wayne, great video in Perth! Paling Senang(really like)Kuching in Sarawak and would love to live there! Walkable city along the river, tribal, over 30 different ethnic groups, Malays & Chinese, great food and close to rainforests in Malaysia & Indonesia. "It has more national parks and wildlife reserves than the rest of Malaysia combined and an amazing variety of unique plant and animal life." Take care.
We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one.(Confucius).Consider showing your landing in Denpasar at the airport, transportation(how to get), & a booking or walking into a hotel in Ubud/Seminyak/Kuta? Bali has some of the best accommodation in the world!
we are staying in Ubud for 4 weeks in Oct. Looking at doing exactly what you are suggesting. 4 nights booked and then look around for the other accomm. Our card also got complamised on our last trip. Either at an ATM or paying our food/drinks at a hotel?????????? Side note: out trip to Lombok where we bumped into you......we were glad to get back to Bali, we enjoy the small touches around the hotels and streets that reflect Hindu offerings and ther significance. We both felt that on Lombok we were looked upon as an oppurtunity more times than not. Cheers
@@fiascodagama1if you do your own multi stop flight booking as a price check then take that price to Flight Center- they will usually be able to beat it.
Hi Wayne, as you suggest I think the best way, is to go there and stay a while, look around get a feel for the different areas and where you might want to stay. Each to their own. Have you ever considered taking requests to visit areas and give your opinion on them? I liked the summary you gave after your Kuta Lombok visit, great insights for people who haven't been there. 👍
Hi Ian. If I'm to be honest, I'm lazy and unorganised so I just want to walk out the door wherever I am and just see what happens. I also don't want the channel to dictate how I travel too much as it's an adjunct to my travel and not the reason for it.

I think travel insurance is the most difficult component to deal with and is probably the only part of travel I've never really been comfortable with. I've never found an insurer I have complete confidence in.

This is a bit off topic. I’ve made comments before on one of your RUclips channels, that my husband and I spent 4 nights in Perth last October as part of a bigger trip we did, driving around the south west of WA. My husband is Australian born Chinese and loves Chinese/Asian food. Just wondering if there is a Chinatown or Chinese food precinct in the Perth CBD? (like we have in Adelaide 😊)
The CBD doesnt have much but there is an official Chinatown just over the bridge in James street Northbridge near Shanghai food court, that ones a bit tame though , for the real Chinatown experience if you head up William street out of the city between Newcastle and Brisbane streets all shops are Asian, you wont think you are in Perth.
Hi Wayne, as always another informative video. Seeing you have a deep connection with Bali I would be interested in your opinion on mass tourism and the impact it's having on the environment of the island and and the effect it's having in marginalizing the Balinese people. Furthermore how do you perceive Bali in the next 10 to 20 years if mass tourism is allowed to continue spiraling out of control. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Wayne, Hope you are well Will Australia Day be your travel day? It appears the Balinese government will clamp down on unregistered accommodation in Bali this year as many do not align with rules.
