One of the top 10 firearms/training RUclips channels ever. The thing is though, a lot of us religiously watching Aarons videos are dedicated higher volume shooters who use our vacation time and bonus pay to take training classes. Consequently, we surround ourselves with people that do the same.

As far as the strength of different shapes, yes, triangles are the strongest in compression. Circles are the strongest in tension. More important than the strength of the shape is directing forces around critical components. that's why the RMR is so durable. It directs the majority of impact forces around the lens - the most fragile component of the optic.

I went for the 407 v2 with the green dot and it is fantastic. Paying an extra $50 for the 507 just to have the circle dot didn't really interest me. And the extra $150 for the titanium 508 didn't seem worth the extra cost beccause this wont be on a duty gun. The quality is outstanding for a $240 optic.

I'm running the 407k 6 MOA dot on my wife's Sig P365XL and the 509T on my 4.5" PDP. We both love the 6 MOA on the XL and I'll be using my 509T PDP on a HAM hunt for Javelina in early '22. I'm grouping tight with the PDP at 50 yards! These Holosun RDS' have revolutionized accuracy for me and the wife. I do the battery change on my B-day and couldn't care less about irons.

I sent my 508T back to Holosun on the 4th of May using the prepaid label they sent me.
I had no problems with my 508T but the auto brightness setting that I don’t use anyway did not work.
Since the competition season was put on hold I figured I would go ahead and send it back to Holosun for repair.
Today, May 22 I received my return package from Holosun with a brand new 508T V2 inside.
What a great company! I know its a Chinese company but I can’t deny how good their optics are.

Fantastic deal for the money and a proper duty rated optic. Trijicon has long leaned on the fact that they have military contracts and have used this as a crutch for those who love the term “military grade” but don’t actually understand what that means. Considering features, the trijicon RMR is so bare bones that it could be considered archaic at this point. You have to remove the optic and re-zero to change the battery, the bottom of the optic is open to the elements and without a sealing plate the battery just grounds on the frame of the optic and thus was part of the reason it had issues with flicking early on. It only has one reticle and it isn’t great for those with astigmatism. The model with a 3.25 MOA dot looks more like a 8 MOA star to me with my moderate astigmatism. And the optic doesn’t have a solar failsafe. The holosun, on the other hand, has years longer battery life, a solar failsafe, auto adjust brightness with a manual lockout, the batter changes out of the side through a trap door with one flat head screw, the optic is waterproof and sealed, it has the same footprint as the RMR so slide comparability is there and it’s cheaper. It’s literally a no brainer. Trijicon fails to adapt to the times and can no longer lean on its name now that holosun has improved their design for them and made it for lower cost.

Obviously it won’t be something that practically applies to very many viewers, but I’m sure many of us would still be interested to hear your thoughts - Process for acquiring one, if it truly is just a range toy or if you can think of any real practical applications where you’d want to have the FA option, how it runs with comps, etc. Just a suggestion/request!

@Aaron, I have one explanation of why there’s a gen 2. I purchased one of the gen 1 versions and it had intermittent power issues right out of the box. When mounting the optic just slightly past snug, the optic would power off. I would then need to loosen one of the mounting screws to get the optic to power back on. Did Holosun replace it? Yes they did. Is there support team awesome to deal with? Absolutely. However, I am almost certain that I was not the first or last consumer that had issues with the gen 1.

I bought a top tier Holosun red dot as I really liked some of the innovative features. Unfortunately it died shortly after purchase before I even got a chance to shoot with it. I returned it for repair eight months ago and it has still not been returned to me. When they work they are great but they fail far more than US made products and the warranty support is terrible

I’ve had the V2 for about a month and a half now as Holosun was so generous to upgrade my RMA from a gen 1 to gen 2 and I absolutely LOVE the gen 2 even more so than the gen 1 now. One thing that wasn’t talked about it and I’m not sure if you noticed but when using a light, unlike other optics including the RMR, the dot DOES NOT lose any intensity no matter what setting it’s on. I’m not sure how they did that but it’s one of the first things I noticed about the gen2. Love it.

I understand the Glock MOS optic mounting system has its issue with maintaining the optics securely and after some firing they loosen up. I believe this is because the MOS plates are just to thin to give the mounting screws enough threads to bite into. I would like to know if this was corrected with the M&P 2.0 CORE. I can't see the purpose of the plastic spacers on the CORE other than acting as a washer of some kind to help prevent the optic from loosening and a guide to make sure you put the screws in the right holes but is there enough threads and metal on the M&P 2.0 CORE to hold your red dot so it doesn't loosen after 2 to 3 thousands rounds?

Buy a gerber dime to keep in your pocket. The blunt edge of the file works to adjust the turrets on the Holosuns. I forgot the wrench the other day and thought I was going to have to drive home. Fortunately I remembered I had my Dime and saved me.

Aaron, one of the biggest drivers of the x2 variants is the lockout. Holosun was getting comments from users saying accidental brightness button pushes were occurring even on holstered weapons and they didn't want to have a situation where just certain models could be locked out... so thats why all the X2 releases.

Hows the parallax on this? Does it stay true to the target or does it move with your head? I also notice on the 509t as the reticle moves around to the sides away from the center, there's alot of distortion, does the 508t do that as well? Im curious because im torn between the 508t and Trijicon RMR type 2.

I have the 508 V1. I love it but the battery dies every three(ish) months. I live in the desert and have to keep it on the highest setting during the day. I’ve got the V2 green in order. I’ve been told green doesn’t use as much battery juice. Hopefully that’s correct.

The only thing is the Titanium is heavier than aluminum and so they list this as "2oz." I don't know what it really weights since they didn't list grams and I doubt it weights 2.00oz, but their 507cV2 is listed as "1.5oz" due to being 7075. Mass really matters as slowing down the slide velocity effects reliability.

I hate to ask this question, but I’m going to go for it anyway. I can afford one optic for my g19. It is my carry, competition, etc gun. It is my only handgun. I’ve done the research and My choices is the Rmr or the 508t. From handling both, what do you recommend for overall civilian use? Thank you for the content and keep it up 🤘

They both have the same footprint but the 508 doesn’t make you take it off (And therefore re-zero) to change the batteries plus it has shake away, solar failsafe, 2 reticle options, better battery life, and is cheaper
