Well let me pitch on this comment. Holosun states it is both water proof and dust proof. So If anything happens they will either fix it or send you a new one.
Jagerwerks did fantastic work on my G45 milling the slide for my 509t. Also grabbed new height Dawson irons with the recommendation from Jagerwerks who gave me the exact height and model for their very low 509t direct mill/mount. Been running my gen3 G19/RMRrm7/x300ub for years but my G45/509t/Streamlight tlr1hl has become my favorite duty set-up. For off duty EDC I run the 43x/tlr6 & at some point will get an EPS carry &send the slide to Jagerwerks for direct mount. Great video.
Thanks for this comparison. I have a 509t on a rifle but didn't like how the adapter would have made it sit so high on a pistol. I'll probably be going for the EPS for pistol mounting at some point soon. I haven't put enough rounds on the 509t to have a real opinion, but I bought it because I like the features and felt like it fit the role of backup optic well. I'm glad to see holosun making a more pistol oriented version now and continuing to make innovations that will hopefully make western optic manufacturers take note.
It’s not that high and it’s easier too find the dot then the eps I have both and the 509t is better but they are both great if I could do it again I’d got 509t for g17 to g19 size firearms and g26 and under get eps or eps carry the size of the firearm kinda matters the plate really doesn’t raise it so much co witness sights work. The one bonus too the eps is you can you stock height sights so don’t have too change out Irons if you got a low pair you really like
Great presentation. Currently i have a 507c on both my carry gun and piggybacked on my scoped AR. Thinking of putting the eps on my edc and mounting the 509t on the AR
I have the echelon with the 507c right now. I'm switching to a closed emitter sight. Do you think it would be better with the 509t or EPS since you already have it? Appreciate your insight.
Great review! Thank you. I was thinking of the 509T. Will the EPS MRS work on A G45 MOS? will it mount with or without a plate? I would like to keep the standard hight iron sights. Thanks for your time brother!
Thanks. EPS mrs comes with an rmr plate. What i would do is get a MOS to Holosun K plate then mount it directly to that. That should let you see some of your irons.
I have the 509t on my Glock 45. I had the slide milled for it, so the deck height is low. Screw running plates. However, I’m probably going to go with the EPS MRS (non carry) for my m&p m2.0, if the slide can be milled for it directly, but with moving the optic to the rear and have the rear sight moved distal to the optic. Not sure if it’ll be possible, because of the safety plunger hole on the m&p. Thank you for doing this comparison video!
Milling a slide for the 509t is awesome. I’d love to do that. Have u seen. The SCS MP2? It’s for the MP 2.0. It mounts directly to the slide, no plates
With the 509t on the glock 45 do you still have to run suppressor height irons to cowitness? About to send my g45 slide off in the next month to be milled and am torn between the 2 but don't want to run suppressor height
@@christopherrussell1558 I get a lower 1/3 co witness with shadow systems sights. I recommend wagermachine works for getting your slide milled. I haven’t noticed a difference between clarity on either of them. Perhaps there is but it’s not something that I’ve ever noticed. I think both are prettt similar. You are just going to have a little heavier and taller sight w the 509t and more durability.

I would honestly focus mostly on the cowitnessing of iron sights. If you can get the slide milled for the eps full size, and still cowitness your low iron sights or even get some nightfission “optic height” sights i think that would be nicer than needing the tall supressor height sights for the 509T
I have several 509Ts and they are amazing and durable. I have an EPS and EPS Carry on order, but have yet to personally use. Great comparison and IMO, the 509T is better for hard use (stronger and more solid mounting). For competition or cary, the EPS series would be better. Closed emitters are the best option unless you are shooting competition. I'm slowly swapping out all of my optics for one of these two optics.

Which do you think would be best on a g19? I’m leaning towards EPS full size, heavily, but would love to hear from someone with first hand experience. Thanks
I own both 509t and eps carry. The problem with the 509t is that it's so difficult to find mounts that actually fit your particular pistols. I've been though several mount/ base combinations and still have not found anything suitable for every day carry.
great video man, thank you, much appreciated couple of questions: 1. does EPS have smaller window than 509T 2. is EPS small enough, that you can use standard sights instead of suppressor sights? 3. if i opt to mount EPS via lets say CH precision adapter plate, will i still be able to use standard sights? your answers are much appreciated
Hey great questions. 1. EPS and 509T window size is exactly the same 2. With the eps + rmr plate i do not think standard height sights will be visible. They also make mid level height sights which are in between suppressor height and low standard height. 3. If you had a slide that had the modified RMSc footprint directly on the slide that would be the best way to drop the deck height. I’d say the eps with no plate mounting directly to a modified rmsc slide would likely allow to to see standard height sights. Maybe not a co witness but enough to use them still
It might depend on the gun my p10 F has a CHP plate. I can see the sights at the very bottom of the window on my eps. If you want a co witness or lower 1/3 co witness at least on my gun I would need different sights. That’s one of the reasons I wanted a eps I had heard I wouldn’t have to change the sights on my optics ready p10 series guns. I am ok with them being in the very bottom of my window keeps them out of my window better.
Thanks for the info. Does solar panel works good on these sights and how long that last? I have one Holosun red dot it’s for rifle don’t know the name but solar panel was useless on that sight.
We’ll the battery lasts 50k hours on setting 6 with the dot only. The solar panel acts as a fail safe. I can’t comment on how useful it is. I would have to try it out without the battery. It may be a good video idea
I personally used it. My offset red dot on my spare rifle actually died and although I had spare batteries with me, I ran it the whole day with just the solar just to test it. It worked great HOWEVER it only illuminates while In direct light so it doesn't hold a charge or anything, if you go out of the light it goes off. But it's a nice backup in a pinch for sure
I've got a 509t on order right now. My plan is to stick it on a 590 shockwave modified with a full buttstock that I use as my bush gun while I'm mushroom foraging. A company local to my country made an rmr mount for the 590 that I've also got on order and that I'm hoping to use to keep the dot low against the receiver.
Just bought a G19 mos, and was wondering if you would go with the EPS or the EPS Carry. The only thing that I've seen that would point me toward the Carry is how the EPS hangs over slightly on the slide, but I wanted to get your or the comment sections' opinion. Thanks
@freedomgorilla1 I completely agree. I've seen posts where people say it's too small for the g19 or not made for a compact, but I'm not a fan of the overhang either. I appreciate the feedback. If anyone would know, it would be you guys. Thanks again 👍
@@ronnguyen8287 so the bigger window is worth the overhang on the slide in your opinion? I'm still on the fence and haven't made any purchase yet, but I am doing my research. I guess the bigger question is where in the heck did you get the mos to eps plate? 😂 Those things are hard to find.
@travisthompson4258 yes its worth the over hang. The over hang from the EPS on my glock 19 isn't bad at all. And I don't run plates on anything I got my 19 slide milled for the K footprint so it's a direct bolt on. The way it should be.
We’ll ideally i would want to use no plate and just have it mount with its modified rmsc footprint. But if i had to use the rmr adapter plate that is fine too. I would have no issues with that.
Something important a lot of people are finding out with the MRS EPS is that because of the aspherical lens tech they are touting on the EPS that eliminates image distortion through the optic is causing the reticle to compress as it reaches the edges of the optic window. It's pretty annoying given that you're paying extra money to be able to have the multiple reticles. the 509T has some level of reticle squishing but it's not nearly as bad as the EPS MRS: ruclips.net/video/U8S_USw2Bkk/видео.html
hello, I`m looking at the EPS for Sig 365 macro--my question is --is there a difference between the 'RED" dot vs the "GREEN" dot---? thanks in advance.
Great question. The green dot is a little easier on your eyes and some people with astigmatism say it’s a little crisper. We have an article that explains some more details on the science behind it freedomgorilla.com/blogs/news/red-dot-vs-green-dot-pros-cons
@@freedomgorilla1 thank you for sharing---I defiantly have a better understanding of the two and what may be better for me. I will be sure to bookmark your website for my future shopping needs. Veteran discounts?
Which would be better for a 10mm g20 gen 5 mos? I was leaning towards 509t but not a fan of the clamp but does seem like it would be stronger. Its a back up woods gun mostly used early morning before hunting because of hog infested woods.
Here’s our fitment guide for the glock mos: freedomgorilla.com/blogs/news/top-4-holosun-optics-for-the-glock-mos?collection Personally I’d go with a 509t or 508t. Both are titanium so they’re very heavy-duty
I use a 509T as an offset red dot on my 14.5 Geissele upper And i use an EPS on my 10mm woods gun. And a 507C on my Shadow Systems MR920, and my Mossberg 940 Shotgun.
509T are still prefer by someone like myself who has a Taurus Raging Hunter 545. Does anyone know how much lower is the 509T mounted directly to a rail vs an EPS with a rail adapter.
Thanks for the info and so for this much money, Holosun should include mounting plate for their red optics. I like some of their red dot optic, but boy it's a pain in the butt trying to find mounts or get it mounted on some of my guns.
No one is talking about the difference in mounting the two. I much prefer mounting the 509t with the screw and plate on the side rather than screws coming down behind the lens and your bit possibly scratching the glass/frame on the EPS
I’d do some more asking around but I’d probably say the EPS MRS. you could even get the rmr footprint milled to the slide instead of the K series and use the adapter. This would also let you use other RMR footprints jf you wanted
Paul!!! I think each has its own specific application. I received the EPS today from y'all and for me I won't run that optic on a full size 5" + pistol. I understand function over looks but it looks like a micro head on a weight lifters body if placed on full size 🤣
@@awokeone7997 I'd go 509t. I have one on my Staccato P with threaded barrel and tactical height sights (suppressor height sights) and the window in the 509t is much bigger. Easier for me to pick up the red dot.
Is there any way to mount the EPS on a pic. rail? Without an adapter plate? I know you can use the K to RMR adapter plate and then mount that onto pic. rail mounts that fit the RMR footprint. But is there a direct-mount picatinny rail mount for the EPS?
Not really. I can run 509T on my PCCs with an American Defense QR Mount. I run 509T on MP5 and CMMG Banshees. EPS is great to have when slide is milled out for EPS
Yes there’s a ton of them, and you could also use the SCRS with the 509t mounts too (don’t do it on pistol though because that’ll void the SCRS warranty)
just bought a 5090 for a shadow systems 9 and it works perfectly.. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a boy that I've never seen before ain't full of shit
Lol yes it is. It’s a k series footprint on the housing, but it comes with a k series to RMR adapter plate. This way if you have an RMR footprint you can still mount it
And that's why you wait for technology to get better lol. Got my 19 milled for 507k foot print. Now when I get my eps it will be a direct bolt on and can use regular buis.

Fantastic video how does the eps compare in size to a 507c?
Great review but let me pitch in on the IPX8 and IP67 ratings.
The EPS has an IPX8 rating: IPX8 is based on testing conditions where the device is submerged in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. These devices are not advised for beach or pool use, and they are not dust-resistant. Key problem with the EPS is that is NOT DUST PROOF.
The 509T has an IP67 rating: IP67 rated enclosure offers dust tight protection against solid ingress from sources like windblown dirt. Combine that with strong water resistance to everything from hose sprays to temporary submersion, Key advantage, is both water proof and DUST PROOF.
The 509T is hands down a better option, but if size matters, the EPS is smaller.

Yes we have low mounts for it too. Sounds good
Just bought a G19 mos, and was wondering if you would go with the EPS or the EPS Carry. The only thing that I've seen that would point me toward the Carry is how the EPS hangs over slightly on the slide, but I wanted to get your or the comment sections' opinion. Thanks
EPS carry will have less overhang. I preferably like less overhang
@freedomgorilla1 I completely agree. I've seen posts where people say it's too small for the g19 or not made for a compact, but I'm not a fan of the overhang either. I appreciate the feedback. If anyone would know, it would be you guys. Thanks again 👍
Honestly that's what I thought as well. How ever having mounted the carry on my 19 im now thinking the window size is too small 😢
Id have to agree on a pcc id go 509 t but id go with eps
Will the EPS MRS fit on RMR QD mounts? Thank you this video was great
Yw. And yes any of the EPS full size models will fit an RMR mount. They come with an aluminum plate
@@freedomgorilla1 thank you!
@@ryandavidson3010 yw
Would you use the RMR adapter plate, or a specific plate for the EPS?
We’ll ideally i would want to use no plate and just have it mount with its modified rmsc footprint. But if i had to use the rmr adapter plate that is fine too. I would have no issues with that.
@@freedomgorilla1 thank you!
Hmm yea first we are seeing /hearing about this. We will check some of ours out
@@freedomgorilla1 good to hear, great content just found your guys channel!
hello, I`m looking at the EPS for Sig 365 macro--my question is --is there a difference between the 'RED" dot vs the "GREEN" dot---? thanks in advance.
@@stanwerner7484 thx so much .. yes for most items 10%
Thanks for the video! Titanium is much more heavier than aluminum fyi 👍 it’s a common misconception.
Yes for sure it is! I didn’t realize
I want the 509T for my 1301 shotgun for my pistol the EPS is what I would pick
Which would be better for a 10mm g20 gen 5 mos? I was leaning towards 509t but not a fan of the clamp but does seem like it would be stronger. Its a back up woods gun mostly used early morning before hunting because of hog infested woods.
Here’s our fitment guide for the glock mos: freedomgorilla.com/blogs/news/top-4-holosun-optics-for-the-glock-mos?collection
Personally I’d go with a 509t or 508t. Both are titanium so they’re very heavy-duty
I use a 509T as an offset red dot on my 14.5 Geissele upper
And i use an EPS on my 10mm woods gun.
And a 507C on my Shadow Systems MR920, and my Mossberg 940 Shotgun.
Very solid choices
Thinkin about getting a Holosun EPS MRS for a Turkey shotgun, the 1.5 MOA wouldn’t really matter then ?
Nah it shouldn’t matter too much at all. .5 mos is half an inch at 100 yards
509T are still prefer by someone like myself who has a Taurus Raging Hunter 545. Does anyone know how much lower is the 509T mounted directly to a rail vs an EPS with a rail adapter.
509t still needs to use a picatinny adapter. It won’t mount directly to a pic rail
@Freedom Gorilla wait, it doesnt?? I thought that it does. Thanks for saving me the headache.
I quit drinking a month ago. I feel amazing. Food for thought.
Good. I don’t drink much at all
Can you mount the 509t straight to a picatinny rail without using a rmr adapter?
You can buy a picatinny adapter. Either a low one or a 1/3 cowitness. Then the 509t will just clamp to that
Thanks for the info and so for this much money, Holosun should include mounting plate for their red optics. I like some of their red dot optic, but boy it's a pain in the butt trying to find mounts or get it mounted on some of my guns.
Yea they used to include pic rail adapter and stopped for some reason
What’s the window size difference?
They’re exactly the same. They’re also the same width and length. Just the 509t is taller
Your prices seem to be in line with the average webshop. What do you sell lower than everyone else?
We offer free shipping and as of right now, we only charge sales tax in 5 states. Thanks for watching!
@freedomgorilla1 not bad. Good luck.
Will the EPS fit flush on a CZ P10c?
Do you mean width wise? If so unlikely.
When I'm on your app asking questions is it u replying?
Yup all chats, texts, emails 👍🏻
Are the window sizes the same or different?
Extremely similar
Great comparison!
Ty!
No one is talking about the difference in mounting the two. I much prefer mounting the 509t with the screw and plate on the side rather than screws coming down behind the lens and your bit possibly scratching the glass/frame on the EPS
Good point
IPX8 the “x” means it wasn’t tested for dust.
Which would you pick for echelon?
For most situations i just choose the eps full size. The 509T i think is best if you really need titanium
Whar are the reticles in each ?
Both MRS
Which one would be a better option to run directly milled on a 2011 STI?
I’d do some more asking around but I’d probably say the EPS MRS. you could even get the rmr footprint milled to the slide instead of the K series and use the adapter. This would also let you use other RMR footprints jf you wanted
@@freedomgorilla1 thank you, appreciate the response
Yw anytime
Yes we sell a picatinny adapter plate that mounts the EPS or K series optics to a pic rail
@@freedomgorilla1Do you have a link or a SKU? I'm talking about a direct picatinny mount for the EPS.
No plates for post style RMR cuts with the 509t
Yep it’s the same for the EPS too
It sucks I have 5 slides and they all have RMR cuts with the ZEV posts so I can’t use either of these sights
Not really. I can run 509T on my PCCs with an American Defense QR Mount. I run 509T on MP5 and CMMG Banshees. EPS is great to have when slide is milled out for EPS
You can get aftermarket plates for the 509t
Yes there’s a ton of them, and you could also use the SCRS with the 509t mounts too (don’t do it on pistol though because that’ll void the SCRS warranty)
damn,,,, I got the same Bar
Haha no way! It’s a nice one
3 piece 600.00 Salvation Army smokin deal!
Great video too bad the 509T won’t mount directly to an Echelon, although there’s plenty of space to expand the foot print to do so.
Thank you. It will Mount using the plate. They also have an adapter plate from chpws. We have it on our site
just bought a 5090 for a shadow systems 9 and it works perfectly.. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a boy that I've never seen before ain't full of shit
It's application...509t is better on a rifle especially with the 2moa red dot.
They both have the same reticle
@freedomgorilla1 oh...well which one is better then? Had just ordered a 509t for an AR offset paired with a 3-15x vortex
This is confusing asf. The EPS comes with a RMR plate but it’s a 507k footprint? 🤔🤔 someone please help me understand.
Lol yes it is. It’s a k series footprint on the housing, but it comes with a k series to RMR adapter plate. This way if you have an RMR footprint you can still mount it
@@freedomgorilla1 ahh!!! My man!! 👍🏾👍🏾 thank you
And that's why you wait for technology to get better lol. Got my 19 milled for 507k foot print. Now when I get my eps it will be a direct bolt on and can use regular buis.
So what you are saying is that the EPS MRS would make a wonderful optic for a spear pistol LOL
If you meant spare pistol then sure!
@@freedomgorilla1 It was a joke, like a spear gun pistol for scuba diving since it can be submerged
dang how do you look like that
let's pretend something that don't exist
You didn’t cover the difference in glass clarity. The EPS is way superior.
I have a video short about it and no it’s not way superior. They’re almost identical - no discernible winner
it pretty much comes down to concealed carrying, if yes you go for EPS MRS, if no you go for 509T
