    Man, This video is awesome! If we hook up a powerbank to this setup and stuff all of this in a sling with cutouts for ventilation, we can have a ghetto vision pro lol.

    I do this but I use the Chrome cast, to the original NReal HDMI adapter to the Beam and it works.

    I use Google TV in this fashion. I actually like not having the spatial display for watching in bed so I don't connect the beam. And I originally got the wiring set up from you way before the beam a as even announced like you mentioned!

      Yeah, consuming media or editing in bed as become way more fun

    you're not powering the beam simultaneously while using it. so it'll eventually run out of battery. you can use a hdmi + usb-a (power) to usb-c. so google tv -> hdmi female coupler (which you have) -> hdmi + usb-a -> beam usb-c. and supply the power for the google tv. definitely don't need all those cables.

    • @KingKola_
      @KingKola_  10 месяцев назад

      Never said i was powering the beam though. For the google tv to work, it needs to connect to an ac outlet. Besides maybe using and xreal adapter or a battery powered android box, there literally is no way around this.

      @@KingKola_ I never said you claimed you were. was simply offering that as an alternative.

      So the beam is supplying power? I’m confused!

    It's so funny you posted this. I got the same chromecast device and was about to dig into how to make this all work. You did a great job! I'm going to try and find a way to run this with fewer adapters or wires, but I don't think I will be able to. You saved me a lot of time with this. Thank you.

      The only way is to buy an Android tv box that's rechargeable. I've searched everywhere and so far Rokid station is the only one that's rechargeable. Problem with that is you run into drm limitations too.Rokid did tell me they're working on drm though. Thanks for dropping in fam.

      If you have the Xreal adapter already use that to have the total devices down to 4. Beam, Battery Pack, Google TV, & Xreal adapter. The Xreal hub (HDMI to USB-C) has it's own battery pack so you only need a battery pack with one USB port out (A or C).

    • @PSYCHOV3N0M
      @PSYCHOV3N0M 11 месяцев назад

      @@KingKola_You should connect the Rokid Station to the Xreal Beam and the Xreal Beam to the Xreal Air and make a video about the experience.

    Moto G100 user so don't need the hack BUT. Great video, Tops. Holding off to get the Beam, being in Europe. I've done the Google TV a while ago.

    Thanks for the video. Still a lot of wires. I did the same thing but I'm using the Xreal adapter since I already had it bring it down to 4 devices instead of 5. I only have run 1 power wire to my slim battery pack.
    Also even tho I have DeX the picture quality isn't that great compare to a dedicated device like any Google TV. At 139" picture quality is very important so I end up doing this instead of using my phone.

    Nice, I use a Goovis media streamer with a portable bower bank that powers adapter and streamer. The streamer also has a SD card slot.

    Great video, thanks. Just to confirm, you said that this setup will also work with Fire TV stick? How about Roku TV stick?
    Why do you like Google TV? Any advantage to use it with Xreal and Beam?
    Hey, please do a video on how to jailbreak the Beam. I would love to just the Beam alone if I can install RUclips, Netflix and Xfinity Stream apps. Thank you so much
    Ron

      I tried firestick, microsoft adapter, even my Sony Blu-ray just for fun, and they all work. It'll pretty much work with almost any device that puts out video through hdmi. I chose google tv because it has all of google's lincensing on it, so i have no issues downloading apps or watching anything on it. You can of course jailbreak it, but there will be some limitations. You won't be able to run apps that require google services. For an example you can watch RUclips, but you won't be able to login so therefore everything on your homepage is random and not custom to you, and you won't be able to use youtube premium if you have that. Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc works great though.

  • @VkFrost999
    @VkFrost999 11 месяцев назад

    hey hi ! could you tell me how did you install the apps into the beam ? and what did you do so they can appear in that little bubble as apps in the beam launcher ... that looks very interesting, Does it work like that directly ?
    Thanks mate!

    • @KingKola_
      @KingKola_  11 месяцев назад +1

      I had to "jailbreak" it for me to be able to install the apps. It's more of a sideload rather than a true jailbreak, this method doesn't void your warranty.

    I just found out that Xreal has launched the new Air 2 and Air 2 Pro

    • @KingKola_

      Yes, they did. They're mostly a refresh of the current Airs.

      Xreal Air 2 and Xreal Air 2 Pro are nothing more than Xreal Air 1.1.
      Don't fall for the number 2 in their names.

    Is there a way to use the beam indefinitely like power from an external source so it doesn't run out of battery? I'm planning on using it to work for 8 hrs a day.
