I'm speechless!!!!! Absolutely fantastic video which brings back so many fond childhood memories for me... How times have changed throughout the year's, unfortunately not necessarily for the better.
Superb footage and a fascinating mix of traction and rolling stock that I've never seen before. A Merchant Navy with blue & grey BGs sandwiching a Pullman set (Southampton boat train, perhaps?), a MN with just the last 3 digits on the cab side, a green Mk 2, maroon carriages in an otherwise green rake.... So much variety, so many excuses for modellers to run their favourites "because it happened in real life...". So much more interesting than the bland shapes and corporate colour schemes of today. Thank you for posting.
This bought back so many happy memories. I use to go trainspotting at Woking station with my mates during the 1960's and Weybridge Station was good as well with the Bullied Pacific's thundering past at full speed. And us kids had so much fun shed bashing in those days as well at Guildford, Feltham and Nine Elms MPD's. Clapham Junction was good when we skived off school and went there for the day from Ashford (Middx) it was only 2/6p return if I remember. Happy days when Britain was still Britain ! Thanks for uploading.
I concur many a happy day spent between 1959 to 1963 at New Southgate and Kings Cross ,seems to me that there are so many people unhappy with the uk we live in today
The Southern had 20 Mk2A FKs, for use on Southampton boat trains, fitted with steam heating of course. Bullied Pacific's were some of the first loco's to haul Mk2s, the coaches found their way onto West of England services a few years later as captured very nicely in the video 👍
Some of the first batch were in SR green and as you can see, ran with Bulleid stock and MK1s. They ran on boat trains and also (like this) in Exeter-Waterloo rakes. Usually, they popped up singly, near the catering car. Others were also delivered in crimson lake with lining for other regions.
Woo found your channel by accident it showed up on things I maybe interested in. Just watched the Woking - Basingstoke vid being an ex Bournemouth man well Wimborne I have subscribed to your channel top Vid 👍
The rolling stock was a much more suitable colour , than now ( ? ) .... but my main memory of Woking train station in the 1960's was the ENORMOUS amount of ( 💩 POO ) on the sleepers ( ties ) ... DAVE™🛑
I just called it a day driving trains at these stations but what a difference Woking and Basingstoke were to today. Today it is simply boring. The good days were the 80's backwards. If you're passionate about railways, then im sure you'll agree that its lost it's appeal now.
@bingbong7316 it isn't the job it was when slammers were around. It's lost it's appeal for me. I did it for over 2 decades but dont miss driving trains. Went from a passion to a wage. Shame really.
Ooh green mk2 in same consist as bullieds in green! We are truly blessed! Thank you!

Something better about those days.

I’ve never before seen a train with Bullied and Mk2 coaches in the same formation
I had to pause and rewind a bit to confirm that. Such an interesting point in history.
Lovely film thanks for sharing ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Cracking vid. Especially the lesser spotted Southern Green MK2a FK at 1:32 Thanks!
Wow Mk2s in 1967?
Yep not many people realise the early Mk 2s were delivered in regional colours
Yep in same consist as bullieds in green, and a few maroon mk1's, spectacular and historic!

A fantastic set of old shots.
Many thanks!
Mk2a in Southern Green? I had no idea this existed!

And they worked with other Mk1s on the Victoria/London Brridge to East Grinstead and Tonbridge Wells.
Brilliant, thanks. Like the shot of the Pacific with the 1st, 3rd and 5th digits of the number visible but not the 2nd and 4th!
What a variety of coaching and van stock!
Very good!
Thanks!
When we made things and things worked!
Great footage.
Excellent thanks for uploading.
Glad you enjoyed it

Ah… the magnificent Pacifics👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Fabulous film! What’s 306? Looks like a rebuilt Bulleid spamcan but different somehow, Q1 con rods or something.
Nice to see the Hymek and warship locos
loved them all but especially the hymeks.
Hymeks are good looking locos.

British Tramways now.

Great footage but if it's silent leave it silent. Fake projector sounds snd daft music are just irritating and had to be muted.
Thanks but many people prefer it with sound Andrew. If it deranges you, use the volume on the side of your phone or whatever device you use!
